  1. OMG!!! That will destroy a drivetrain.
  2. The mechanic who did this should be charged with theft and fired. The customer should receive a new wheel with a sincere apology from the shop's owner.
  3. Thatnks for the warning. Based on this info, I will never ever set foot in that shop again, and will advise my friends to do the same. This kind of dishonesty makes me ill. I would have laid a charge of theft without hesitation. Bridge owes your friend a new wheel.
  4. it should be obvious, it's ONLY a mountainbike if it has 26" wheels. It will say tchjop bike if it's 29".
  5. I have a theory about this; During the years before the recessions, when men reached their mid-life crisis, they'd pop out and buy a little two seater sports car. It was a little 'up yours' to the line they'd been toeing for so many years; a little rekindling of the youthful spirit. Now times are tough, many people don't have the spare cash to get that little car, so what do they do? With helpful encouragement from wifey (bless her soul), they pop out to the LBS and buy a full house carbon 29er mountainbike, with all the trimmings, which includes the tights, aero helmet, bar ends, camelbak and a large tub of bum lube. Wifey is thrilled because hubby is doing something active for a change, he's out of the house for a bit over weekends so she can enjoy a little 'me-time' Off to Tokai he goes with his new, shiny whip. Only problem is, he's got a gut that hangs over top tube, he has zero skills, no flexibility, no fitness, no clue. This is the DREAM client of the LBS though, and agreed, it's what keeps them all alive. Even though this kind of rider would not feel the difference between X0 and X3, he'd rather have the best, and can afford to. It is also what contributes to the trails being watered down. Quirky little sport we have here.
  6. Fat people should not be allowed to buy high end light weight components. There should be a grading system that only allows top riders, with decent skills access to anything above XT/X9.
  7. At least the guy who bought the medium can be satisfied that he's not a total twat
  8. it's derogatory to call a 29er a mountain bike.
  9. with roadies on them
  10. You are right, but then he'd have to factor in the bibs, aero helmet, bar ends and anus lube.
  11. Just don't waste your $$ on a 29er. Rather give the money to charity or the ANC.
  12. Although your post is a joke, it's actually a decent idea, but with a few tweaks to your business model. Instead, your service should be to handle the entire process. I have a 20k bike to sell. I give it to you to sell on my behalf. You must write the ads, post them on gumtree, buycycle, the hub etc. You must deal with the cash payment from the buyer, the delivery and for this, I'd give you 10% of the sale price. You will need to have insurance etc and be able to sniff out scammers etc. I would expect my money, and if you get my bike/goods stolen, you will be contractually bound to pay me the full sale price amount within 5 working days. You could raise this percentage you'd earn by essentially 'fronting' the seller cash on his sale. Thus, My bike at R20k, you give me 10k straight away (at 15%) and 10k after the sale (at 10%).
  13. yeah how do you pick your nose with that thumb?
  14. yeah, I'd also rather be walking down the track than do it on a 20-naai-ner
  15. Ag shame man. Joburg really has no decent riding to offer. I think your bar ends should come off.
  16. CPA isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Try enforcing any of their rules some time. JB's terms were straight forward, and the OP agreed to this. In fact, from looking at the terms, JB was being very accommodating with Mr.Busy-pants.
  17. what's far fetched is your whole cry here, and then expecting to get a result by slating the man on a forum. How is this respectful?I've only had a good dealings with JB.
  18. awwww, this warms my heart (blush)
  19. JB was well within his rights to hold the deposit. The OP stuffed him around royally and it's clear from his post that he was just looking for an out. @OP; how does cancelling two days before the date count? How is JB meant to recoup the loss and find other people to fill the place? What if he'd turned people down to fit you in? I sometimes have the displeasure of working with these types. Always a stuff around, half arsed excuses. Bottom line though comes down to respect: the OP had zero respect for JB's time and didn't care to honour the terms, then tries to slate the guy on an open public forum.
  20. oh oh, they must be "illegal" then. Better get the TMAHA on the case
  21. Hahaha, brilliant! Well, one thing for sure is that whatever your parents have done in bringing you up, it is working very well. You have your head in the right place that's for sure. Quick question: why not look at getting a DJ bike? They can be had for pretty cheap.
  22. So you're congratulating them for fixing their stuff up? And that shows how awesome they are? Umm, ok
  23. hey, I thought I was on your ignore list? Nope, I wasn't at the meeting. I've stated how I feel about the original post. You disagree. Cool. I'm really indifferent about your ad hominem views pal. I don't even know you.
  24. I've stated my points in above posts. Like it or don't.
