  1. Is it illegal to not have belonged to a club since the 90s?
  2. Hmmm, you've never bottomed a 200mm-travel DH rig have you? As much as we loved to (fairly) mock the "29er-specific" saddle, this is a bit of a different story. Most DH racers will agree that buzzing tyres against seats is a legitimate problem.
  3. Cool, will go have a chat... I'd love matte black on my Racing Jackets instead of gloss.
  4. Quick question, do Oakley have a stand? In previous years, buddies told me that they'd had their Radar frames swopped to different colours free of charge as one of the promotions...
  5. Yeah, so it got inducted into our family instead
  6. Exactly. In the last 10 years, I've seen an noticeable increase in the number of lesser-skilled weekend warriors spending increasingly more on bikes. This is of course why Cyclelab was recently purchased... It's good business. Is it sensible or necessary? No. It's very possible to enjoy yourself without spending tens of thousands on a bike. I have a friend I ride with occasionally who could easily afford a R100k bike but rides a R4k one. Why? Because he only rides around 10 times a year, even though he thoroughly enjoys himself on each of those occasions.
  7. I know, my credit card bill hasn't exactly been kind either...
  8. Yep, but if it doesn't bite, you won't have spent double the amount unnecessarily.
  9. Not so, for a first bike that's more than fine. https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&module=core&do=view_category&category_id=25
  10. Yeah, on a bike it takes me around 2 minutes and 30 seconds, by car it can sometimes take up to 11 minutes if there's a jam.
  11. Why wait for winter? I've been riding with FF gloves forever, not even the hottest conditions deter me from suiting up with them. Give them a go, you may be surprised to find that they have zero effect on any possible heatstroke...
  12. If you're an odd size yes... I gave it my best attempt at searching, but nothing that would work for me turned up. I'm a small jersey and 32 shorts though, so a lightweight.
  13. Hans het vir 25 jaar GTs geRey.
  14. The frightening thing is, that much doesn't even really get you TLD!
  15. www.swindle.co.za
  16. Pressures for these two types of riding can vary hugely, I'm presuming you're biased towards XC? I weigh 68kg and have run most of the tyres I've used (read: many) at 25-27psi rear, 18-20psi front for general XC/trail use. For DH a little harder to prevent slamming through.
  17. Dirtpaws and Sidewinders are my favourite gloves of all time. I currently use a Remedy set, but the seams are oddly placed and they don't feel nearly as tough as the Sidewinders. If you can find Sidewinders in your size, buy two sets.
  18. I found some of the latest stuff yes, but it looked like it was only the Retro line (can't remember where though, might have been on ebay...) Either way, I got the nice Dakine set (with lined shorts) in the previous post for R1600 all-in, so I'm giving the idea of TLD kit a skip for now.
  19. Bingo! Thanks How did I not know about that? I have a Dakine pack already, so I pulled the trigger on these goodies: http://dialdbikes.co.za/images/detailed/0/8555200_000_Boundry_Black-2.jpg
  20. This entire XD driver thing is silly. Nice looking goodies though...
  21. With some stick-on TLD decals to go!
  22. Screw this. I spent 45min today trawling Jenson, Amazon and ebay for a nice set, but either shipping to SA is not allowed, or they want to charge me $45 per item. Couldn't find a set that would cost me less than R2.5k. I'll stick to Adidas for the time being. Meh.
  23. Those guys were nuts, riding full-on DH without any gloves of any kind.
