  1. Bwahahaha, very important to know
  2. Surely these woman are not out training alone. you watch people and learn very quickly what equipment you need. Even if you've never tried it before, bloody hell, get your hands dirty, sit down and change your own damn tyre, or fix your own chain. It may take half an hour but it's the only way you'll learn. I'm disgusted with people who want to ride and not willing to put in the other efforts of riding. They probably have never washed their own bike either Disgusting!!
  3. Well done Lady Di First South Africa female home ....wooohoooo!!
  4.  Hope she gets it right and can get a career. She definitely has the talent.
  5. Bwahahaha, hope she's patient My fitness isn't where it should be anyway, so decided to leave it for next year rather. I'm the type who doesn't know how not to race And BTW, you may initially battle with the accelerations of the bunches on a road bike if you're used to mtbiking. It is quite different
  6. Your wifes weight compared to yours means diddly squat. It's power to weight ratio. I know a female weighing 45kgs that can't climb to save her life. I'm jealous, my partner pulled out on me so no Panorama . Maybe next year again.
  7. I say we do Saturday morning @1Hill, Let me know if you ever get any proof
  8. OOh, maybe I can beat your ass up a hill again
  9. When I used to gym there was a maori female that looked like a man and oh boy, when she walked past you she smelt worse than any animal I've ever been near. Was horrid.
  10. Can you just imagine trying to get that on a race horse....
  11. Ha ha, that brings back interesting memories when I was pregnant. Would wake up with cramps in my calves so I'd stretch my legs only to get cramps in my quads...hence jump out of bed trying not to wake anyone by screaming.
  12. Obsessed with training. It's not necessarily a bad thing. I've been there ,
  13. Bwahahaha. I've been off the hub for a year and we're still having this argument. Funny enough being female and on the smaller side of the bike range I initially was against even thinking of a 29er. After watching the girls races of late and especially the world cup I am starting to change my tune. I hear quite a few of them battle with fittings due to the smaller bikes so some are still on 26ers but overall it looks like the bigger wheel size really does have an advantage?? I have a feeling the 27.5 will suite the smaller bikers better and 29ers will reign over the taller people. Will be interesting to come back to this thread in 10 - 20 years time and see what has reigned
  14. Only one word comes to mind: Obsessed!
  15. Slowbee you've been on the Hub now for how long??? Haven't you learnt anything yet????
  16. It's simple, Hills, hills and more hills. That's all you need to know. Take your climbing legs
  17. Agree, don't go from tiny gears to big ones, just one gear higher than you would normally ride it to build some strength.
  18. Slowbee, you would do maximum 2 days a week of hill intervals. Most people would do shorter harder intervals on Tues and Thurs. Weds a more recovery ride. Saturday and sunday 3-6 hrs LSD which includes everything. Friday I used to do easy with a couple of flat sprints to keep the speed up.
  19. Jees, I have an 18 month old girl and it really does come down to T.I.T.S. (Time in the Saddle). OK, I have serious health issues as well but know for a fact that once a week is not enough if you want to improve. Try get two 30min - an hour workouts in the week and one longer one weekends. Only do hill repeats once a week....too much hill training can make you slow as well Use a higher gear than you are comfortable with on the hill and do not change halfway, suffer baby!! Hill intervals...find a hill and bring HR into lactate threshold zone for two minutes, then back down to LSD zone, as soon as you are down, pick it up again to lactate threshold or over for two minutes . That is one interval. do as many as you can to start and build from there. You'll never believe how long two minutes can be, will feel like you are dying. For me to lose weight I find longer rides in LSD work the best (5hrs in the saddle), but I know where you are as I cannot do that either, need to spend time with the little tike as well. Can't really help you there, I don't diet
  20. I have a 50cm and a 48cm. I've set them up as close to each other as possible. I keep hitting my knees on the top tube of the 50cm and am just that little bit uncomfortable on it. Rather get the size you are in my opinion, it'll just make the comfort on the bike so much better and prevent any problems.
  21. All worsies are lazy, Mine do exactly the same...Until you mention "Walkies"
  22. Have you done this one before??
  23. This looks like a fun race....very tempted but not sure I'm fit enough...ha ha ha
  24. Problem is you never train, bwahahahaha Do you have any money left to buy food??
  25. Racing isn't fair. You should try be in the ladies vets races and see how unfair it is because you don't have a commissair watching cheats
