  1. Slowbee, my digestive system does get attacked as well. Last week Sunday I wasn't feeling great and that night had cramps and nausea and the next morning was man down, only woke up at 13:20. I've given up on blood tests and doctors to be honest. everyone keeps telling em everything is fine, I know it's not.
  2. Fully agree with you there. Even if it's stretching, make sone feel so much better!!
  3. Surely the Sports Science Institute can help you out there. Wish we had that up here!!
  4. Hey Wheelsuck, I ended up at Jon Patricious and went for bloodtests...also coxsacchie. At that time had been in and out of doctors offices all too much. when I went to him and found out the results was sent immediately to the cardiologist, thank goodness heart is still good. I was dizzy for over a month and took off many single days here and there from work. When I started exercising again I would do 20kms which took over an hour and would get home feeling like I'd raced 150kms. Sometimes it would take me a month to recover and be able to get back on a bike. Some days just to get up and bath was hard. I remember one friday I went to bed early and basically woke up sunday late morning still feeling like I had only had 2 hours sleep the entire weekend. It is now 6-7 years and I have NEVER gotten back to the form I had before I was sick. I still have bad days but my recovery is now a lot quicker and I can at least ride and even race if you get the training and recovery right. I have found that diet plays an important role as well, try stick to natural foods, lots of fruit and veg. To this day I'm still trying to find the right combination of vitamins and supplements to improve my performance but you eventually also learn and adjust to the lifestyle change. The nice thing is my body reacts as if I exercise a lot and I look slim and healthy and toned even though I do half if not a third of what everyone else does who I know. In my opinion, just keep fighting it and it gets better every day, every month, every year. learn to deal with the dpressive episodes, it is part of the disease and keep positive. Good luck there!!
  5. I live in the south of Jo'burg so get it from bunnies in Rosettenville, scary place . But jees if you can get it for R150/kg Solgar is expensive,
  6. While we're on this topic...I've started taking the Solgar capsules of L-Gltamine. When is best to take the stuff. Should one take it everyday as a vitamin type thing or should you rather take an increased amount only after your exercise?? Should it be taken morning or night?? I'll let you know what I think about it.
  7. I'm with you on this one...and her hubby is a good runner so he must also have time sonewhere....we're doing something wrong
  8. Aaaaaaw, thanks for the flower Yip, I've been a regular 6 day a week cyclist for 9 years now Must be a. as I really have been building slow, even changed the people I train with to do precisely that
  9. That's my problem, I'm only riding 6 hours a week and the rest of the day I'm buggered???? I would think I should be able to do more...I'd love to ride early sunday but have no energy and need the sleep
  10. Thanks Indigo...I'm not bike specific, I even greet runners Was good to see you this a.m.
  11. Ha ha ha...now that would be perfect . In all honesty, Why can others do so much more than me?? I know a female who has 2 kids and manages to run in the morning and gym at night...what am I doing wrong?
  12. Did I really upset you that much??
  13. Shame Slowbee, how bad are you?? It really depends on the person I think. I know some who get over it quick and are back to racing in no time. I've never gotten back to the form I used to have and have to now be very careful not to overdo the intervals in training. Doessn't worry me anymore, I just enjoy it when and how I can. Makes you appreciate the important things in life
  14. You're right, I haven't been here for a long long time and forgot what a circus it is I don't need to perform any better than I am, I really just want to be able to get home on saturday after my ride and still have enough energy to spend the day with my family and play with my girl. I'm getting my fitness back but as I start getting somewhere the muscle pain and fatigue hit....gets quite frustrating really!!
  15. Bwahahahahaha !! No miracle expected at all... I already take b injections every 3 days. Iron is 100% Calcium and magnesium low but no matter what I try it does bugger all. Leaves me craving chocolate all the time Wonder if I should try ozone therapy?? Creatine?? Cell Food?? What else is there that is legal and won't leave me with cancer?? Sleep is not an option, I have a 17 month old girl. I only ride tues, weds, thurs morning for 1 hour and 3 hours saturday. Not overtraining at all. You're telling me the pro's don't take stuff....sure!! I know more than you think . Been in this game a while but I guess unless you're in the team you'll never know. Oh yes, and I battle with yuppie flu but it's been 5 years now...should be getting over it.
  16. I'd forgotten how useless you all are...thanks anyway!!
  17. I'm very curious what the pro's take for supplementation and recovery. I'm soooo struggling with fatigue and muscle pain...would be nice to be able to live a normal life again??
