  1. Now that makes sense to me . I'm glad they're rich enough to get to world camps, can't see cycling SA helping out.
  2. I'm not saying I want an amateur race, I have no problem with it personally but I think if you race pro you should do pro SA's and visa versa. Otherwise as you say, you look like a twat no matter what the outcome.
  3. But surely if you are racing for a pro team you in essence are pro?? They must be paid something? So then if you race in the vets you can only wear your jersey. If you race with elite woman you cannot wear your colours?? So you're SA champ in 30+ but not allowed to wear SA colours as you race every other race in elite?? I see Lynette didn't race in the elite SA's but is she with a pro team this year still? Maybe she'll be racing in the vets....bwahahahaha. Can't see that happening. Amazing what some people will do to get a podium
  4. Someone needs to explain a couple of things to me. How come the pro's over 30 race in the elite category when it comes to racing and yet with SA's they get to race in their age group?? Something doesn't add up in my mind, anyone care to comment??
  5. Help me out here. Surely if you are pro and over 30 you should still do SA's in the elite category??? Or am I wrong? How does this really work?
  6. That was bad...the mud there killed many bike.
  7. My friend was attacked by a guinea fowl on his mtb and ended up having to turn around...bwahahaha!! My side is very different to most. Get yuppie flu, try fight it and go for a 20km ride, every turn of the peddle hurts and get home feeling like you rode 200kms. took me a month to recover and get back on a bike again.
  8. MTB, Hardtail, Carbon Saddle = EINA!! Sometimes I prefer a little more weight
  9. I've been away for like 2 years and some things just NEVER change
  10. Might help your yuppie flu
  11. Bwahahaha...I wouldn't know, i've only just started trying and find it the most uncomfortable thing I've ever done and I was a gymnast Very hard on the knee and ankle joints.
  12. I'm the same...but I've heard the more you run you get used to it and the HR does get better. But I think running is just harder all over full top. They're VERY different sports, you really can't even compare them in my opinion.
  13. Bwahahaha, it depends who his g/f is.....
  14. Firstly in my opinion, I'd ask how old you are?? Some people seem fine on Hardtails but as you get older I think it gets hader to get used to all the jolting and a hardtail is not as forgiving as a softtail over some technical stuff. But then in the same breath if you are totally new to cycling, maybe keep some of your cash and get a cheaper bike until you know what you really want so in a year's time you can buy that upgrade once you've been around cyclist and have a bette idea for yourself what you really want? I'd suggest a basic technical course just to build that confidence, unless you do have a friend, b/f or hubby or someone to show you the ropes. It really does help riding with others who know what to do and following their lines and sucking them for info. I still do it From experience it seems like Merida actually makes a good bike for a decent price. Each bike shop has specific bikes that they are allowed to sell, so one bike shop may only have Scott and Merida, while another has Cube and Specialized etc, so shopping around may be a good idea and then you can see what you like in looks an feel. A 26" is what I ride and I'm the same height and similar weight. I find upgrading components normally the expensive way to do things. You'll probably do better buying an entire new fully built bike in a year's time than having to upgrade everything? There is definitely some really good advice here, so sift through everyones comments and go with what feels right for you.
  15. You might be right. I was just thinking after writing that, that these type of people pick on a certain character type and at 15 you are still quite vulnerable and if she had low self esteem already he may have moulded her and already threatened her to stay and not go to CPT. One never really knows the true story. Either way, for any 30 year old man to go for a teenager, even 16 is just sick in my opinion. They're still kids really!!
  16. Sounds like they both need to be locked up for some sort of crime.
  17. Just as well, we don't want too many of you running around Hold on, I'm one of you
  18. Aaah, you know I do... we must get those mtb dirty sometime again together
  19. Finally someone took note. Why the hell if you are being raped would you willingly stay with the guy and not move to CPT with your parents. If he was abusing you and you got the chance to get out you would. Both sides of this story seems a bit fishy to me. And R250 000 isn't very much to ask for. If she really was damaged and so abused she would never have settled with such a puny amount. She would have wanted to see his name all over the place and see him suffer.
  20. I agree with your girlfriend. Too many cyclists I know are highly sexed maniacs . Though most are harmless and somehow you still have to love them
  21. Maybe I should try a 29'er. I can't even get a 2:52 on my road bike .
  22. I think I love my carbs too much to even try this. I don't think I'm CR but would be worried about my cholesterl eating all that stuff, that's where my problem lies And, once again folks, everyone is different so what works for one may do nothing for the next, why does it have to be so complicated and difficult??
  23. Hmmm, I've tried to get my sub 3 but so far only made 3:03 Was soooo sad
  24. I also find that, they just don't understand!! Even my hubby battles After having my little girl I now know what sleep deprivation without the diseas in play is like and what the disease does and I'd much rather be sleep deprived any day. It's nice to have someone in the world who actually may understand me a little and how much I struggle
  25. a bit of googling said it can also attack you digestive system as well. As far as I know it spreads two ways: It lives in ur digestive tract and when ur immune system cannot fight it, its on u like a rash. Secondly and this is where u should be carefull Slowbee, (unless the littley is allready grown up (should be around 2 now?) is Faecal contamination, like cleaning babies and then it gets int ur system, or riding MTB and riding thru crap and it spills on ur Bite valve or Bottle and u ingest it. I am not familiar with it attacking the digestive system, but hey this is a very special little Virus so would not put it pass it. It also mutates and apparently goes into ur DNA (Not sure about this though) BTW Kids get this and can hadnle it better than we do...see my theory below. That's what is worrying me, I have an 18 month old girl and wonder if she could get it from me from birth or if I can still pass it to her, really don't want that to happen. But as I've read they do seem to maybe get it strong initially but then seem to get over it unlike us. Can only pray!!
