  1. I bought my vesconite form a company in East London called Euro Steel (maybe national) Ask the suspension guys were to get it from, sure they could help. If you don't come right, I can send u some.
  2. HI I had mine made up of vesconite. They seem to work just fine. The guy who made them for me said that it is a far superior material than the original aluminum ones, in fact he said he was surprised to see aluminum! Vesconite is pretty cheep, I bought a section 100x18 and it cost me R30, the engineering guy charged me R80 labour.
  3. funny
  4. Thanks. Just looking at ways to lighten my bike. Probably best to save the cash and put it towards a lighter set of wheels.
  5. Hi As stated above, is there a huge difference in weight between a good quality carbon bar and seat post versus aluminum?? Considering replacing my Anthem X1 standard race face evolve xc bars and seat post with some carbon.
  6. OK, so maybe I should pop down to my friendly machine shop in the morning and ask him to make some for me. Now for the real question, would vesconite be a better option than alu??
  7. why not just match them to what the external diameter of the shock bush? ie make a nice tight fit, but not to tight that they cant move??
  8. very nice, is that frame custom sprayed. A saddle with a little white would work nicely.
  9. The bike inn question has done 1552k's since new. All of this has been in the dry. The bike get cleaned +/- every two weeks with gentle running water and prepsol. No hp cleaning. As far as I know the shock pressure is set correctly, in terms of sag (about 25% sag) Maybe I am missing the point, but I still don't understand how having these reducers machined to fit could damage the shock and frame??
  10. yea, i can see bad wear on the reducer. what would cause this premature wear??
  11. how do we know if its the bush, or the reducer??
  12. just pullled out the reducers now, by hand, and that is were the play is between the reducers and the bush. Thsi bike is only 4.5 months old??
  13. I will strip it out later and let you know exactly were the play is.
  14. Sorry, I am talking about the aluminum reduces. Do you think that the wear would be on the bush, or the reducer?? O Dear, were is Johan Bornman when u need him??
  15. Yea, sorry I am talking about pivot bushes, maybe I will take the shock, and the (bolt/pivot??) that goes through to a engineering shop, and ask them what they think.
  16. how would a 0.1mm difference stuff up the shock??
  17. Hi My Anthem x1 has some play on the aluminum bushes which press into top and bottom of fox shock. Is it viable to get some one to machine a set of bushes from aluminum or vesconite, or should I rather just purchase the bushes from Fox??
  18. MC series (in my opinion) give a little to much trouble with rear shocks and linkages!!!
  19. nice work, well done, I like the idea of the o ring seal. Just make sure its nicely lubed, and you should fell a huge difference.
  20. yes, it will (to a certain degree) However, if you take a guy like Burry, and put him on a cheap deore bike with a cheap entry level rts fork, he will still whip most of us!! So what I am trying to say the difference is relative!!!
  21. white one is nice, and no I am not a racist!!!
  22. My Anthem X1 is the best according to a recent UK MTB magazine!!!
  23. I wish I could commute, I now self employed contractor, so work from home and drive bukkie all day. I used to commute in London, what a blast, got very fit, and saved loads of money, knew london like the back oof my hand!! (thats how I started cycling) However, being self employed isnt to bad, like today, I am pretty much done for the day, so off for a nice long ride, cheers!!!!
  24. Thanks for the advice. Were can I get Joes book from?
