  1. Well played. At the speed I climb I would have fallen over. What did they say at the start was the reason we could not go up the old route? I heard them talking about it but was too far back.
  2. Absolutely perfect day out there. Followed my standard MO to ensure that I will be funriding and not racing. Way too much red wine last night and got to bed much too late. I was riding at the back and took it easy, thankfully I was so slow no SPD riders annoyed me, not even the nice lady from Maties that I was behind on The Cobra. She took corners slowly with one foot clipped out. She did say "Jammer" on the 3rd turn and I replied "Geen probleen, die pace werk vir my". On Fair Cape Milkshake she apparently had a bad fall but still manage to out ride me and some other 60km riders so good for her. The last climb was is much harder now that we go straight and I managed to ride up until 10 meter after the cement section. Been a while since I pushed my bike but at least I was in comfy tekkies. That Boomslang added to the descent is pure bliss. All in all I'm very happy and enjoyed the 4h15 out on the trails today.
  3. The 45 and 60 comes down there at the end. So I don't think they will have other routes going up there.
  4. It's not the distance, if there are 5x 4m sections that is 5 times I have to stop and wait before I can ride. I have no problem with people riding SPD, just make sure you can handle it on all terrain. Otherwise join me and the other #noobs with out flats.
  5. Done it many times. Pros are a different story, but your average weekend rider - just no.
  6. Rather go with flats. Last year I had to get off the bike more than twice because people in front had to clip out and push their bikes over perfectly rideable terrain.
  7. All of it is rideable if you use the right pedals.
  8. meh, for me it's a batch start at 6am for the toughest ride Durbie Dash to offer. The 60km MTB.
  9. Pffft. For me it was harder than last years beta of 2.0 and in the light of the recent K2C beta I call BS.
  10. Looks a lot better from that side than the view I had last week :
  11. I had the same lady pass me on the last climb before Asara, she was very slow on the descent and I got whacked by those olive trees trying to pass her. They should start - and preferably stay - at the back. Then again had I upped the pace in the first part of the race I would have had less 30/45 traffic to deal with.
  12. Saw a couple of e-bikes. Did they have their own category ?
  13. Oh - wow, ok so my last post seems a bit more pointless now
  14. Probably. Stellenbosch rid itself of many sports events. Stellebosch Cycle Tour and MTB, One Tonner, Medalion even running events such as Gino's night race, Jonkershoek half marathon, Total Sports Ladies race. I think the only event still taking place in Stellenbosch is the Winelands marathon - not sure for how long that will be the case.
  15. Excellent event, as always. One of the few I can ride to from home. Very happy for the registration Friday afternoon. Bottelary trail fairies worked hard and the trails were in perfect condition. 10/10
  16. I think they should let the 110km also go over Bains next year. The distance checks out and they can share waterpoints all the way to Hermon. Should make things a lot simpler and attract more riders.
  17. I'm never crossing those in the middle of road again. Was actually thinking about that lekker dive on One Tonner this Sunday...
  18. Oh, now I get it - slow day for me. Yeah it has the potential to skew things for the roadies I guess. I'm all for the suggestion of just applying the start group time for those who are missing a start time. The few seconds it takes to cross the timing mats should not make much of a difference. On the topic of roadie vibes, my 2019 road number will have double the amount of race stickers than my 2018 one cause I plan to do the Langebaan one again this year. 2018's road number was used once
  19. They are doing the timing for STBB this weekend and I doubt it will be fixed before then. On Sunday I sent an email to queries@racetec Yesterday I logged a query on the racetec site.
  20. I wonder how long it will take them to mop up this timing mess? On Sunday I sent a mail to their queries email with a picture of my start sticker (D-E) asking them to please correct my start time. Heard bugger all back. Still sitting pretty with a time of 12:52:13
  21. That's a "Major" achievement no doubt.
  22. Beta as of late has been a joke, looking how they did the K2C beta.
  23. I wonder how long Racetec will take to fix the titspanner that is the timing.
