  1. Does anyone have a Mavic Aksium hoop? My hoop is trashed but Hub and spokes still good ...
  2. Correct
  3. I had a Trigon that from new was like your pic B, but was partly sprayed grey and it was STUNNING. I way prefer pic B and find pic A style outdated. I plan on sanding my Matt Black MTB down and doing a high gloss clear and partial paint sometime soon. I think that as long as you use a UV clear you should be fine. There are lots of boats and motorcycles as well as cars with clear coated carbon. Lately I'm quite liking the mattish clear carbon that the likes of Redbull F1 use for eg on their sidepod intakes.... To the OP: Good luck with your quest. Don't consider wrapping etc, it's not practically feasible.
  4. According to Hambini they've had 6000 fails over 11 years with 6 serious accidents and 2,7million units recalled.....today I'm really happy with my 10speed FC6750 😎
  5. Plus a bit of ego atop each cylinder.....🙂
  6. On that, I've found if I move over to give a lane splitting biker more space, BMW GS riders seem to expect it, while most superbike riders will tilt their head or wave a foot ...
  7. Without drifting the thread, isn't the lubricating oil in a fork same as motor oil and the hydraulic oil is the fork oil? @droo ?
  8. I wouldn't recommend that. Dash products usually contain silicone which is a dust magnet. The part of the seal which counts most is that which contacts the stanchion. That's why I Brunox the stanchion and then wipe everything clean.
  9. I used to head up the marketing for one of this brands opposition brands....as our technical guy, a doctor of Chemistry nogal said to me at the time...."you mix one cap of product in a bucket of water and expect it to cover the entire car in a layer of wax" ....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Like someone said below. Don't wash with chemicals ....mud and general dirt doesn't need degreaser....where my chain or BB emit some grease I use degreaser carefully or on a cloth. I use Brunox stanchion lube every month or so.
  10. Be careful in the burbs, it just takes one car to ruin your day....yip, the Cradle is becoming a **** show, more glass and more and more riders feeling the need to have a support vehicle following them, which does nothing for the average road user....I don't get this support vehicle thing ...I've ridden the Cradle area for 20 odd years, before there was a "loop" and despite various punctures and mechanicals I've never felt the need for a support vehicle.....the ride etiquette and awareness for surroundings seems to be declining? It's also not all bunches that ride like cretins, Club 100 and Northcliff Cycles are (for me anyway), two standouts for how bunches should ride ...
  11. I have actually started buying more and more from CL (Fourways) as their pricing has improved and sometimes even the service on the floor but I'm for sure going to stop that immediately. I've had my concerns with their club riders over the years, but this latest behaviour takes the cake....*me heading off the support a LBS where Im supporting the little guy*
  12. I know what one bunch overtaking another looks like, and I know what one bunch riding 3-4 abreast looks like
  13. Agree. We're drifting off topic....the Outsurance guys carry a huge public indemnity of around 50 or 100Million....plus because they are authorizef to do point duty your insurance would cover you. My gripe on the guys doing point duty for Club Cyclelab is that a few weeks ago at Lanseria 4 way stop, they got it hopelessly wrong when cars were in the intersection they stopped them to allow the Cyclelab riders through ...I avoid driving out to the Cradle that route because to overtake the 4-wide bunches of entitled Cyclelab club riders is too much of a mission....
  14. Id love to see the abuse and accepting homeless people doing point duty....talk about taking liberties! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  15. Nope. 947 organisers pay the co that runs the Out Pointsmen project. And Rescue are at 947 also, Manning road closures and other services ...
  16. I've been in that industry.....doesn't matter what you got, if you're not registered as a Traffic Warden, with JMPD for that area, you aren't legal....are they registered with JMPD? If ORRU are registered how come the Outsurance Pointsmen (who carry that card) do point duty at 947 and not the Rescue guys?
  17. I've often seen Cyclelab riding like they own the road, 4 abreast. I once moaned at one of their Marshall's from my car window as I was trying to for doing just that (4 abreast chatting away) and he looked at me like he didn't have a clue. They use "Rescue" members who I believe to be Off Road Rescue, maybe I'm wrong, and a couple of weeks ago they had taken over the intersection at Lanseria without any regard to motorists when they were doing traffic control for Cyclelab. Typical Cyclelab. Legally only someone registered as a Traffic Warden is allowed to conduct point duty ... Time to vote with wallets and rather shop elsewhere....
  18. Better energy. Main concern being that gels used to spike you but then put you down, vs maybe bars being something more substantial for your stomach ... Longer rides: 2 hours to 6 hours
  19. Howre the shoes? What sort of proper food will you eat on those10- 120 hour rides?
  20. What do you find provides better energy for longer rides, gels or energy bars? I drink a well known sports drink and have generally always taken a Biogen or PVM bar for longer rides, but I'm starting to consider trying gels, what do you guys think? Other than the guts who don't eat or eat potatoes 😎
  21. I'd just be happy with a shakeup in the commentary.....🙂
  22. Thanks for that, will do. After some Googling I see that Omnico do a lot of Bell padding, can maybe order through my LBS ...
  23. Where in CT are Olympic? My brother is in Summerset West for the month...
  24. Unfortunately Joburg....I have an old red and yellow Bell and they are very close....
  25. Helmet is a Lazer per the attached. I'm pedantic with my "stuff" and when not in use it lives in a pillowcase. I don't do massively long or many rides anymore and haven't done much in the last year after having had a lot of time off the bike dealing with and coming back from the big C. 🙂
