  1. You guys are such skeptics, the poor dude needs the cash to pay for his frontal lobotomy. Looks legit to me
  2. The heavier your bike, the harder you'll work, the fitter you'll get quicker.
  3. The brand in SA has taken a huge knock, due in no small measure to Cycle Science's opportunistic shenanigans and the relatively cheap chinarello knockoffs available at the click of a non-ASG button. For my (admittedly limited) money, I prefer to steer clear of the brand altogether.
  4. Kick your own arse and notch it up to (in)experience. Those are them apples.
  5. Being your usual douche bag self I see. Jigghead has a point, every rule has an exception and injury is a mitigating reason for missing an an arbitrary service timeframe. If you have nothing positive to add, stfu. Don't feed the trolls Jiggs, it's a thankless task.
  6. 90 percent of CS clientele just want a "Peena cheep cheep", they wouldn't know what a hub is (real or virtual). We'll only find them here once they look under the BB.
  7. Good job, despite your injuries. I love the atmosphere at this event, it's so much better than the Oceans half and the weather is always favourable. Next Half on the Cape running calender is the Jive Slave Route 21.1 on 12th May. I'll be there. First 10km is hilly, around Bo-Kaap, last 11 is downhill and flat around the Sea Point and back toward Grand Parade. This Sunday is the 10km UCT Memorial, also a nice little lung burner.
  8. I've yet to put anything in my saddlebag, but I'll gladly take a push up the hill.
  9. How did you get along today? 2.08 for me.
  10. Thanks for sharing that with us. Although violence is never the answer, in this instance I too would have made an exception to that rule. Ultimately the driver thoroughly deserved a PK.
  11. Agreed. Everyday garden variety type accidents aren't controversial enough to be considered newsworthy enough to cover. Hope your mate recovers soon!
  12. Carpet burns, chappies style and you lived to tell the tale. Did your insurer eventually replace the frame?
  13. Not stopping at a red light in Boksberg is punishable by a receiptless R50 cash spot fine, those metro cops dudes are ruthless when it comes to financing their klippies and coke
  14. MUCH, emoticons make all the difference especially if the comment has potential to be misunderstood. That said, I still think it was Cyclelab members that rolled over the red light . Good attempt to defend your club mates though
  15. Yep, read it, and dismissed it. LAME LAME LAME.
  16. My third Safari too, technically. Walked it in 2012, so don't personally view that as a "completed half". I wonder if the organisers do though, when considering permanent number event tallies? Anyway, your three hours is faster than anyone on the sofa. Let me know how you get along.
  17. I haven't purchased from them (yet) but based on 47 resoundingly positive references on this thread alone I suspect it will only be a matter of time before before my credit card visits their cash register.
  18. Mind the rock gardens and pesky tree roots, danger abounds along the single track
  19. Of course he's entitled to an opinion, he 's just not entitled to point fingers
  20. The "Sea Point incident" happened in Camps Bay Chappies is a hot spot, due to the stop-and-go system being employed at the moment. I was clipped by a vehicle just past the lower stop-and go heading up Chappies about a month ago. Vehicle drivers are impatient.
  21. It looks like a zealous club member's lame attempt to absolve his fellow club members of responsibility.
  22. Bud, there's ALREADY chaos. Have you EVER rolled over a red traffic light, even once? If not, you may cast the first stone. Too many sanctimonious hypocrites that say one thing on the hub, and do another away from their keyboards. We've ALL used our own initiative at some point. Many admit to it, others are liars. The fact is some archaic traffic laws were designed for vehicles, not cycles.
  23. Eish boet, that's a helluva device to simply leave lying around, tie it around your neck next time. Fingers crossed it magically finds it's way back to you.
  24. The "handler" you're referring to is the insurance company Claims Handler responsibly for processing this incident, on behalf of their client. You're just a third party, a status akin to dog turd in insurance speak. Their obligation is to their client. They may attempt to apportion liability, based on your description. Don't worry, they're just taking a chance. Resist it, and demand full payment. Is your Dogma GENUINE (purchased through an authorised local retailer, with a serial number stamped on the BB)? I only ask, coz they're likely to ask the same questions, and will require documentary evidence supporting your the quantum claimed.
