  1. I think a porlex grinder and Impress brewer will be a better travel combo. The Impress is less PT than the Aeropress. More info on Impress Brewer: http://shop.gamilacompany.com/impress/features/ The price is similar to Aeropress.
  2. Crow, just in case you forgot what the Nomad looks like in action: http://vimeo.com/103318652
  3. Ah, cool now I see what you mean. After the railway jeep track, the Spur burger smell will be enough to pinpoint the finish.
  4. As far as I understand this has changed now. From the gpx file it looks like it will be a gravel road/jeep track that runs parallel to the tar road. Anyway, I'll have a look at the route description on Friday evening with a cold beer..or six.
  5. And we all know that Strava is extremely accurate with total ascent  I measured 2820m in 2010 using my Polar, which I calibrated the morning before the ride.
  6. Our two naughty buggers are rolling with cones this week, as they keep rolling up the instant lawn that was planted last week, and the cones seem to work great. (they only wear them when we are at work):
  7. The weight-pressure chart is a very rough indicator which is used for " Quick Setup" , ie for riders who aren't too worried about getting the most out of their suspension, and just want to get out and ride. It is also ideal for riders who do not understand how sag setup works. Please see the Rockshox Fork Tuning Guide below, as found on the Sram website. In this document they describe two setup methods, including the "Sag Setup" process, same as what Droo advised. https://www.sram.com/sites/default/files/techdocs/2001-2012_dual_air_tuning_guide_gen.0000000004160_rev_a.pdf
  8. If you are an espresso drinker, then the Silvia will suit your needs. But if you are a milk based coffee drinker the Silvia, being a SBDU machine, might be frustrating due to the time delay when switching between espresso and steam mode. More important than the machine is the grinder. Get the best grinder possible.
  9. Well obviously, when you want a love child between the two bikes in the topic, you would want the child to be very much like the dad, and we all know the Ibis is the dad. If the child ends up being like the mother, you might run the risk of losing your man card. So to play it safe, you should get this Norco:
  10. First of all, you need to look at the speed rating of the tyre your are planning to use. Certain Mud Terrain tyres are not rated for highway travelling speeds. I also own a SWB Pajero, since 2002 they came with automatic transmission in SA, and I have read on the Pajero Owners Club SA that one guy got erratic behaviour from the automatic transmission after changing tyre size. This specific case was a change from 265/70/R16 to 265/75/R16. AT tyres are very versatile, I have ridden my car in dunes, through very tough and rocky sections and overland trips on standard Cooper AT tyres. So if you are not going to do any serious off road riding, I would suggest that you stick to AT Tyres.
  11. This morning when I took the dogs for a walk:
  12. That is not killing a sport. That is making a sport awesome!!
  13. 65km ride on the new 3 Rivers Trails outside PE. Trail will be officially launched at the end of September. Awesome variation between jeep track and singletrack. Massive climbs and awesome scenery:
  14. Do you use a respiratory filter or mask whilst using Benzine? Not exactly the healthiest chemical to work with.
  15. Haha, no it is just a Wika stainless steel food grade thermometer which I put in the boiler to check the temperatures at which the thermostat turns on and off. It is an old unit from our plant which I have replaced with an RTD and display.
  16. So, I am not really a heavyweight home barista, but I do appreviate a good espresso. After reading a bit on Home-Barista forums over the last two years, I started to pinpoint my research towards a goo espresso only machine. My research, time and again, led me to the Arrarex Caravel Manual Lever. There is a 150 page thread on the machine on Home-Barista: http://www.home-barista.com/levers/arrarex-caravel-t5752.html A few months ago I purchased one on Ebay from Italy. I refurbished the machine myself and replaced all the seals. I also machined a brass tamper which fits the filter basket perfectly. We also have a Spong No1 grinder which have been in our family for as long as I can remember. I also got a nearly unused Spong No3 which my brother got from his in-laws. These grinders grind suprisingly fine and consistent. http://www.home-barista.com/grinders/spong-coffee-mills-grinder-for-23rd-century-t16165.html This machine is extremely forgiving. The open boiler design reduces overheating issues and the very narrow and deep basket is forgiving in terms of grind consistency. I am still learning, but my espressos are already a lot better than what you will find at many coffee shops/bars. I took this photo about 30 seconds after completing the pull:
  17. Wel, yes, but Nicolas did very well in the Enduro world series last year, and I am pretty sure that when recovered from his injuries, he will drop those roadies on a normal bike as well. EWS guys like Jared Graves and Nico Lau will give our local marathon pros a very good run for their money. They are extremely fit and strong.
  18. Is this the same model Ibis you currently have?
  19. Live and let live. I once did a trail ride in the Baakens Valley with a 74 year old oomie riding with me on his e-bike. He had proper skill and negotiated the technical sections brilliantly. However he would not have been able to do this ride if he could not get the assistance from the motor up the steep hills and on the fast flats. There are many people who would love to ride on MTB trails but age or disability prevents them from doing so. If e-bikes can put the smile back on their faces, why not? Nico Vouilloz did some training on one of Lappierre's ebikes while he was recovering from an injury (love the part where he drops the roadies): http://vimeo.com/92316948
  20. OK, so this is my kind of bike, 160mm travel, Cavalarie Anakin, 13.75kg complete with dropper and you won't have to lube or clean a chain for thousands of km's:
  21. Did they deliver it in a Lambo? Bliksem, R500 for overnight shipping on a small 2-3kg (depending on your packaging) parcel is a bit of a push.
