  1. I believe they refer to the Maroon route as single track heaven, haven't had the chance to try it yet
  2. http://www.hollatrails.co.za/ awesome place
  3. Thanks, I had not even heard of the DB5 till now. Looks like the old Avid caliper.
  4. I've been considering the R version, I doubt I will use all the top line features. Unfortunately only the RSC has been reviewed anywhere.
  5. It could just be the viewer you are using, are those screen shots from Garmin Connect? For example, if you open the same track in the Garmin Connect "Player" the resolution will get even worse. Try export the track and open it in another app, such as GPX Editor.
  6. I had the same issue and used the flat screwdriver on my multi tool to get it to turn, you push against the bumps on the nut.
  7. It seems politeness gets you nowhere with service, from any kind of business.
  8. but is anyone buying them ...
  9. Both my Ikons show 580g on my scale. They are not TR but are EXO, they work tubeless... claimed weight is 590g.
  10. Is it open yet? Anyone been?
  11. I just know I would forget the bikes were up there... drive under a low gantry or something
  12. True. Thule and Bosal towbars have a 75kg vertical load limit, which is more than enough. Towbar SA on the other hand, those are way too flimsy.
  13. I use the Buzz Rack Buzzy Bee 4, I've had 2 29ers and 2 26ers on it at once, fits quite easily, you just need to make sure the handlebars and saddles don't get in the way. Edit: lowering the saddles helps a lot
  14. When it comes to 26er tubeless tyres, I really like the Maxxis Aspen Exception Series. I ran them on my 26er, and know 3 others also using them in a tubeless configuration. They go for around R300 to R350. Some people are weary of them because they are light and have thin sidewalls, but I've never had an issue.
  15. Cool, something to consider when I get rid of my GXP bb
  16. Interesting, first time I've heard of Quick Rock. Do you use their BBs?
  17. An update on this, pushing the "connecting rod" all the way back to get the top clamps to sit square, did NOT work. The bolts started coming loose, and the "connecting rod" worked itself forward. Asked the shop about it, and they said push the "connecting rod" all the way forward, until it stops against the "stopper". I did this, and have had no more issues so far.
  18. Question for anyone who has the KCNC Ti Pro Lite 8000 seatpost: The "connecting rod", shown in the picture between the arrows, has movement backwards and forwards before tightening the bolts. My question is, where should this be positioned? Currently I've pushed it all the way back to try and get the top clamps to sit square on the saddle rails, am I on the right track? Thanks
  19. That's correct, if you want to purely follow a downloaded track (GPX), that is exactly what it does, and it's all I've ever needed, you can immediately see if you go a few meters off course. If you want base maps you can go for the eTrex 20 (R2200), or eTrex 30 (R2800).
  20. I have the Edge 500, it is a great device, but a horrible navigator. The Garmin eTrex 10 is an awesome navigator, it's designed for hiking, but you can get a handle bar mount for it, and uses AA batteries so you can carry spare. Retails for around R1300 from Kalahari.com

    Saddle rails

What saddle did you bend the rails on? I had a cheap Giant saddle which I had the same problem with, then I got a Specialized Phenom Expert, and it has been going strong for over a year now.
  22. Hi I have a 29er with SRAM 11-36 casette, and 26/39 up front. I don't use the 39 much, I find the 26 works well in most cases, except when I get very tired, then I would prefer an easier gear for hills. Trying to get fitter, rather than changing it though.
  23. I believe Google MyTracks doesnt use data, until you decide to upload the track afterwards.
  24. What part do you want offline? Maps, satellite images, or just the logging?
  25. The newish Garmin Edge 510 can pair with your phone to do this. However, it's not cheap Smartphone is cheapest option if you have one already, I just don't feel comfortable relying on one considering battery life.
