  1. Sorry typo. Without a suspension fork, but with a straight fork.
  2. Looks like Bike Addict have stock. Something I found strange is the sizing of EBikes at the lower end of the price bracket (That is all I have looked at when I was shopping) is that they seem to almost be a size larger than pushbike sizes. I am 186 and felt more comfortable on a M than a L. Also my wife is 185 and there was no way she would be comfortable on a Large.
  3. Also look at the something like this if not going offroad https://bike-addict.co.za/products/avalanche-mte-2020. Has a stronger 350W motor vs 250. And my wife gets between 85 and 100km there is also one without a fork which is lighter of not going offroad. Yes the price is double but they are better
  4. But another issue is that the GP is typical kept at the same %. That is one of the biggest price drivers. So yes we are still only on 20% (haha, not) but 20% of 20k is not the same as 20% of 50k. At the current escalations they should only be on about 5% GPbut I think they are closer to 30.
  5. You do know that this is a totally mechanical process. It is not as if someone sits there checking each bar. I don't know the bars, but of it is chocolate coated or has largish bits in it the weight will always differ and damn 9g is so easy to have a deviation in weight. When the items are tested for accuracy I am sure the do bulk testing so then weights would even out. Edit: Looking at the testing methodology required for checking weights are you sure your scale meets the requirements? 09-chptr2-h133-15-final.pdf
  6. Sorry to disagree here, but I am 1.86 and nave been a large all my life. An XL (especially for a beginner) is going to make the reach way to far and place too much weight on the wrists. That however is just my opinion. I am currently also exactly 110kg as per my scale this morning. I would also recommend riser bars or a higher stem to lift the positing a bit initially. For the rest I agree.
  7. Whatever you do dont get what Nino rode the epic on.
  8. Well remember the Hub is not longer primarily a forum, it is a sales platform. So why should they participate in the community. This has been a longstanding gripe of the old guard, but we have accepted this. So it is what it is. You should look at is a "Facebook Market Place" for bike riders with a bit of chit chat on the side. Well not actually there is just so much moderation going on......
  9. This should be a Friday topic. I don't see the issue. The seller may have added value to the bike and then reposted it.

    Transbaviaans 2022

You always overcook the 1st half, so don't follow the busses. But then again, it is fun till it is not. 1st 100km for midfielders is typically done in 3.5 to 4 hrs. Well for us it has always been, then the next 130 takes us between 6.5 and 7,5hrs
  11. True but we still have to bitch and moan about things. I have also always found the vast majority of motorists are super nice on that route considering the narrow roads. Live and let live. Seems to be good in CTN.
  12. But don't forget the Recoverd's they are way more than the the vaxed. Damn I was vaxed and more than once infected and recovered. But I presume at least 60 to 70% of the informal settlements were not vaxed but infected. If you don't know and don't care and do not have access to media you just move on. Yes Covid is dangerous but not more so that drinking and walking in a highway etc. If you have no money and no transport and don't know about these things then you don't care.
  13. With the new start location the wind funnel effect is way less, so people can apply rule 5 and get on with it.
  14. If the Ebike was able to bring the guys back it would have been way down the alphabet soup or only on the climbs and if the gys could stick on the climbs they would have bridged anyway. Flats and downhills there are not may ebikes that will run over about 36kph giving assist so if they are doing it then they are providing the power. If so great for them. On the climbs ebikes have a HUGE advantage and could drag people with against the wind. Then battery life becomes an issue and then that is a whole new ball game.
  15. Agreed if it is a race, but most people on ebikes are not in it for the race. As long as the racing cats are screened for ebikes all is good. the rest are just riding for their own time anyway. Also considering how most of the non race cats ride they would mostly never get any benefit from trying to draft an ebike.
  16. Do you know: 1. How e-bikes work 2. What an achievement it is for a couch potato to get out there at all 3. The Joy it brings to people who wound otherwise never experience the joys of riding a bike. Probably not and next time you should probably have a bit of a deeper chat with that guy/gal. My wife got an ebike in December and it has opened up a world of enjoyment for both of us so I say go for it, more bikes out there more sales so hopefully bike shops will hang around a bit longer. I agree there is a bit of a challenge with ebikes possibly assisting other riders do a faster time. But now with experience, unless those bikes are chipped they are only going to be able to offer assistance on climbs. If you are a an over 3.5 to 4 hr World Funride finisher they are going to be of no real use to you unless the guy/gal driving it is as strong as or stronger than you. On the flats and downhills those things are useless (unchipped of course) So yes give them their spot in the sun. If someone uses one to cheat, they would have found another way to cheat anyway.
  17. It was fresssshhhh going up black hill to Simons Town, but the trip back was way cool. Almost looked like the 'Argus' out there.
  18. Because a lot will enter and pay. Facepalm.
  19. I thought he was being crowded and was just making space for himself. Maybe the push was just to hard. I works very well if you just gently move the person out of the way. Not too much to see here.
  20. Do you relay believe that if you were caught in 2015 anything will change? You probably just get better at the dosage.
  21. OK you are right in your minds eye. So go forth and fight it. However the majority of people dealing with products that have a churn cycle based in months will never agree with you, especially if a product is upgraded/replaced every few months. Bottom line is companies only do what the market will bear. You still have the option, as many have stated to pat the 4k, get the new device, sell it in the box for 7k, accept that you paid 5k for two years worth of use and move on to another vendor which will probably give you the same life should you be doubly unlucky.
  22. Unfortunately a warranty is a warranty, not a guarantee. With most warranties the labour would be excluded. So they could quite easily tell you that they will replace the part (I.e. the whole inner workings of the device as there are no individual components) and charge you the same fee as they now need to have a clean-room and extra qualified staff etc. Bottom line is nothing lasts forever, and as far as I am concerned they also have a design life. Know this and accept it , then move on.
  23. Hmm, not standing up for Garmin, but when last have you had an issue with an electronic item? (TV, Laptop etc.) The issue is the cost of part replacement and labour is significantly more than what is being offered. I have just had a small issue with my laptop. Please replace keyboard, ram and motherboard. 80% of the cost of a new device. The labour component cannot be discounted these days. Have you ever considered what your cost to company is per hour? The offer of a new replacement device @ 50% is a very fair option to me. Especially considering that it is an out of warranty offer.
  24. So the info re storage % has some merits, but not so much in the cycling world if used once or twice a week. It is primarily a function of the decay over time from a start voltage point. So: To lose the smallest amount of power while in storage, charge your battery to 40%, unplug it and store it in a temperature-controlled location. https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Battery_Power/Lithium_Ion_Batteries#Storage_temperature_and_charge Storage Temperature Charged to 40% – capacity loss after a year Charged to 100% – capacity loss after a year 0 °C 2% 6% 25 °C 4% 20% 40 °C 15% 35% 60 °C 25% 40% 0 degrees centigrade and 40% battery charge loses the least amount of power—just 2%. The reason is that constant temperature is your best friend. Do not store in refrigerator as that is moist and BAD for battery storage. So in our real world for cycling % Charge is not an issue.
  25. What is considered storage? We are trying to ride every night or 2nd night. Is that too long a period?
