  1. Would be interested to hear how long each service should take. From there one can try to extrapolate. But what does a mech earn if he is not the LBS owner? R 10K, R 20K? What are the billable hours per day? I would guesstimate @ R 15k per month that mech needs to invoice at least R1.5 to 2k labour per day to make the store owner consider keeping him. Another thread had someone bleating about paying R 300.00 for a Tubeless fix. How long does that take from walk in to finish? I guestimate is 30 mins and the labour component was probably R 100 to R 150.00. and the balance would probably have been sealant and rim tape and probably a valve. At that rate the mech would need to be running the full day non stop just to pay his salary. Consider that! Yes I know there is big money in spares, but these days everyone is comparing to online pricing so not so much any more.
  2. I do and always will do so. I can only afford Sh!tmano and it grates me that I can't afford better but so be it. Road is much better than MTB though.
  3. 1 Tyre - Labour R100.00 Sealant R 75.00 Tape R 75.00 Total R 250.00 Xmas Bonus R 50.00 = R 300.00 What is that 8 or 9 beers? What is your labour rate that you bill yourself out to at the office? How long did it take to do? (15 -20 mins so call it half an hour labour charge all in all not a bad cost if you ask me) I get so miffed with people that always moan about costs (espcially labour), but if you break it down you are probably billing way more than you are being charged. Think about it.
  4. Well Frail has a flywheel, I think it is a 62 tooth front chainring. That mat qualify as a flywheel ;-)
  5. Eina! that is way hard. I do 2 Bar when riding on the road and I am 104kg. On the mountain I am currently running 1.4 - 1.5 Bar for off-road on a hard tail. I only sort of bump through when I am tired and riding rocky climbs seated.

Sorry please expand. My point was, why have to purchase a 3rd party product to get a seeding if I am already paying PPA for this function?

I believe only the person wanting to get the data needs to be premium. Ho well, wateva, who cares. I just ride on my own these days so it is a non issue and if I do the "Argus" I am happy to do a 3:01 to 3:20 from anywhere they place me as as funride.

Why do you need to have a Premium Strava account? What a lot of K@k!!!!
  9. Interesting aside. What are the Munga going to do regarding prizemoney for next year? If memory serves, previous was R 40 to 50k. Then they converted to Bitcoin now almost R 440k because of the miraculous Bitcoin recovery (Hope the bubble does not bust before they finish) But what do they do next year, Find a huge sponsor (that did not work when they started)? Interesting times for the Munga management. Then again they do their own thing and don't do marketing etc. so who knows.
  10. He is not fat, just has a huge boep. Yes there is a difference.
  11. I see H Visser had a fall, had to walk for 4hrs to RV and then the medics only let him go after another 4hrs. Sad as he was up there in p2 at the time. He was flying after that but with a busted saddle and tyre issues I thought he should scratch. But then....... they are made of sterner stuff than us.
  12. I would break it up and sell off the parts, you will get closer to your asking price, but there is more PT there.

    Geek funnies

This one is clear and easy.
  14. I hear some people are complaining that the conditions are too good at the moment. So some of the faster riders that are not so hard will probably come into contention. Different strokes for different folks.
  15. This is a common problem and has to do with the cable and the USB connections. I often have to play around with the connection points till it picks up. It will charge no problem, but not connect. Changing the cable helped for some time.
  16. Not so sure if that is over trained. Based on that Weekly TSS score and the subsequent ride I do not suspect it is an overtraining issue. TSS scores of 1 to 1.7k are surely not above normal training values. You may need to rather look at other health issues. Go see the doc. I just checked my TSS scores for the past 5 weeks and they are between 800 and 1k per week. Barring last week they have all been 1 or 2 rides per week OK they have been long solo-ish rides, and I am a bit unfit at the moment. Again, I do not believe it is overtraining but rather something else, especially the fact that it was just one big week and so long ago. just my 2c's.
  17. Doug Ryder, love him or hate him, he seems to keep pulling rabbits out of the hat. Kudos to him. Never say die...... give that man a Bells.
  18. Don't do it if you don't have insurance on your bike/s
  19. Condolences to the family, But on this note: The law is there, it is the enforcement that is an issue. What good is it to write new laws when the careent laws are not enforced. Like brining in the 0% blood alcohol? 1. The person needs to be caught 2. Driving under the influence needs to be proven Then only will a judgement be made and a sentence be served. The problem is no2.
  20. Strange comment, I recommend to all my mates to go the endurance option. If you are doing 2 to 3hr+ ride 2 or3 times a week, that is the way to go. Who ride for less than 2,5hrs at a time on weekends anyway?
  21. We did a base miles ride on Friday in the Cape Storms into a headwind. It took a bit longer than planned. From Durbanville to the Cederberg on MTB's and took in Bainskloof, Michells and Gydo passes before venturing into the Cederberg proper. My total consumption was 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of energade, Cheddarmelt burger and a beer at 100km and some cashews after Gydo Pass at 130km. Total trip was just over 210km. So everything is relative, cruising you don't need anything; racing....... well that is another story altogether.
  22. So now you need to decide where and when to ride. Simple, if you are going big in the rain or not.
  23. The main issue these days when people talk about chain ware is that 90% of the peeps keep their bikes in bubble wrap and they never ride where an MTB is supposed to be ridden. Once you do you see that wear is still what it always was. I use to get (9 and 10 Speed 3 and 2x) 1,000 to 1,500km on a chain if lucky. then prices went up and tech got "better" but actually we ended up with more golfers riding on gravel and the roads so chain ware went down.
  24. I see you point, my point was just that everyone is so quick to jump up and down for every little thing. Maybe I am too old school.
