  1. At the XCO#1 there was this laaitjie that came to lap me. I saw him coming and was looking to give him some space to pass. Before I knew it he was on on my wheel saying: "Track Oom, Track Oom" I felt like giving him a snot klap, He made me feel old and slow at the same time. But Kudos, that kind of respect I'm seeing less of with youngsters
  2. If going via road & lwr main rd, watch out for the cars. Try to still leave before peak, cos certain cars are very edgy in the morning. If you wanna go via mountain, then go to Rhodes Gate, after 6am, then just wait for other bikers and tag them, lots of bikes and runners out in the morning.
  3. thanks for update, hope plan B is also not affected. One can't predict where fires are going to happen nevermind trying to stop it. Due to family commitments I have delayed entering early for any events, in light of these fires. Not a bad ploy considering the fires. I do understand that early entries is good for the organisers but holding back is just as good so that if they do need to refund then there is less admin
  4. Ok, was going to do this but no thank you, its an expensive trip and must be worth it, iow, I wanna suffer. I thought the lite is their for those that just want to take it easy
  5. Or could it just be that the women field is not so strong compared to men? So men have to specialise and put their effort into one discipline to get some silverware
  6. Respect Sauser, Sipho you earned to ride with Sauser, so continue working hard.
  7. the other day there were pictures of rangers on the mountain being posted on Facebook, very assuring. Yesterday on TM, morning and afternoon commute, not a ranger in sight. Where are they?
  8. got a We Bike at Sportmanswarehouse , my third son will be using it soon. No problems with it, so a good a choice. I think so long the child is comfortable with it I don't think there can be much between the various brands
  9. 2 afternoons in row commuting home and cars were parking in the cycle lane galore. guess that fines was a once off thing
  10. By the Biscuit Mill , lower Main Rd on Wednesday 1 July 2015. CA 824 705
  11. This Cecilia trail, where is it? Is it clearly marked? no mtb allowed etc. I would hate to break any rules but just worried I wouldn't know if I see it. If it clearly says NO MTB and you took a chance OP, definitely not ayoba.
  12. I would imagine that the CTCT organisers would have planned for all scenarios and have various contingency routes in place. I think given the timeframe, the execution thereof would be the problem.
  13. 4x4 at Cape Epic - Land Rover Bike at Cape Epic - Specialized Cellphone at Cape Epic - iphone Car at Cape Epic - BMW See it all works out!
  14. I do hope that these fancy cars come with bluetooth as well that pairs a cellphone, cos most of the folks driving these cars in CT CBD definitely don't have bluetooth cos the phone is always held against their ear
  15. at least they upfront unlike the Chinarrelos
  16. All the tips the okes gave in the lead up was spot on, I was told wear a buff and it worked like a charm. I suffered from insomnia so had very little sleep. I was too ambitious and aimed for a sub 5, wasnt strong enough for that distance on an MTB, my longest before that was the long argus MTB challenge. I probably overcooked it at the start. At 80km I was on track for a sub 5 but after the refreshment stop my energy was gone, I pulled up on the left leg (first time I ever did that) and at 103km I pulled on the right leg. the last 25km for me was tough. I must say some okes are really strong, especially the old timers, I saw some of them flying. Oh and I fell in the thick sand, couldn't uncleat fast enough or maybe I just wanted to lay down a bit. Goodie bag not too shabby either Great race, lovely route, i know what to do now, cant wait for Tip Trans 2015.
  17. The problem I have is how to pace myself, never done this race before. The Argus I train for and no every hoekie en draaitjie. If I can follow a wheel that has similar ambitions then yeah, maybe i'm in with a shout. but I'm also weary of the last 10-20 km.
  18. I'm also planning on a sub 6
  19. guess you alone here, so you have to join the ladies racing snakes I'm sure there are others, they just no hubbers.
