  1. Would have been an option if we didn't get klapped 40% import duties. Then you still sit with the possibility of never receiving your package thanks to our not-so-dependable post office (Had this happen twice now)
  2. Like the Dave Scott one too, not too sure I like paying R2000 more for it though
  3. So... time to replace my trusty old epix gear trisuit before Ironman. (While they look awesome, they're not as cheap as they used to be, after taxes it costs way more to import than buying the equivalent locally) I decided on a one-piece (always found them very comfortable) with short sleeves as the bra-tan is getting a bit old and I want a bit more protection from the sun. I've narrowed it down to one of the following: 2xu Compression sleeved Full zip http://www.2xu.co.za/mens-trisuits?product_id=188 HUUB Core Long course https://huub.co.za/collections/huub-tri-suits/products/huub-core-triathlon-suit-sleeved-mens-black-redOrca 226 short sleeve https://fluidlines.co.za/collections/trisuits/products/mens-226-ss-race-suit-bk-wh Anyone with experience/recommendations on any of the above? No real preference on my side, all around R3000 but am leaning towards the HUUB as I like the idea of having pockets on the sides of the suit instead of the back where I have to perform my best contortionist/yoga moves to get a gel out
  4. As someone with a 1 year old, I find it more impressive that she kept the baby happy in a pram for 3:40

    Give it a TRI

" " Ain't that the truth . And there is ALWAYS some upgrade to be had that will make you faster. Because it matters that you finished Ironman in 14:46 instead of 15:00
  6. Did the JC marathon yesterday. I had two goals for this race: a) Complete the race without compromising Ironman training too much b) Run a sub 5 Comrades qualifier Arrived nice and early. Or rather, arrived nice and early at 4:50 at the highway off ramp. Took me another hour to try and find parking at the cricket field which according to the organisers had "plenty of parking available." In the end I climbed a pavement 300m from the start line (having a bakkie has its perks). Didn't think the race would be a warm one but found myself sweating quite a bit almost from the start with the high humidity. Kept the pace constant at about 6:45-6:50min/km and completed the first lap in 2:23 feeling quite comfortable. Had a few incidents on the second lap with impatient motorists ignoring the marshals and basically driving through batches of runners. (A few choice words were spoken; having to break rhythm to avoid cars with 36km odd in the legs is no fun). Also had a few issues at the water tables towards the end with most of them having run out of water and only having coke left. (FYI Coke + Rehidrat is not a pleasant combo) Finished in 4:55; mission(s) accomplished. Legs a little sore this morning but the 30min recovery swim I did last night seemed to have helped quite a bit. Will take it slow for the next couple of days and then back to IMSA training. PS For any novices thinking of doing to JC next year; yes it is flat, but not necessarily easy, you have to work the whole time with only really one downhill of about 1km to relax a little
  7. Doing the 42km at Johnson Crane. Will be a slow one; Just aiming for a sub 5; dont want to compromise IMSA training too much
  8. AB+... I am one of the takers from anyone ????

    Cricket......

Pitch? What pitch? Just looks like someone had his lawnmower misaligned a little while mowing the outfield

  11. I certainly remember hurting for 220 odd km's (Swim was fine)
  12. Will have to look at my thresholds; apparently you're not supposed to be able to hit more than 100 TSS per hour of exercise. You earn 100 TSS for an all out, 100%, 60-minute workout. Of course most workouts are not completed at 100%, so most workouts will accumulate less than 100 TSS per hour. You can earn more than 100 TSS within a single workout (as long as it is longer than an hour), but never more than 100 TSS per hour.(https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/what-is-tss/) Will perform a threshold test somewhere in the week to reset my HR zones
  13. Eish, had to work a lot harder for my 1:56, 74% in Z4 (1:26), and 24% (28min) in Z3
  14. Anyone here that have done both the old and new bike courses? I did the "old" course in 2015, was wondering how it compares to the new.
  15. Interesting, what was your heart rate for the race? I hit 83% of max over the duration of the race. (Wasn't planning on doing a quick one but met a friend of mine en route and ran with him and he's a fairly snappy runner)
  16. Pretty good week, TSS: 868 Time: 10:24 High TSS mostly due to a PB I did on 21km at Dischem (TSS of 274 for the run). (Still slow compared to runners, but happy to have broken 2 hours on Dischem course)
  17. 3 Months to go boys and girls, hope everyones training is going according to plan!
  18. I have the predecessor (s4) which has served me well through IM and numerous IM 70.3 & 5150’s over the years. Still going strong with no rips/tears. Quite buoyant although not as flexible as some other suits. Remember to add plenty of anti chaff around the neck area, I chaffed badly on my IM swim, but if you butter up your neck properly it’s fine
  19. Don't worry, you're not missing out (yet). I've been trying since the start of the year to activate this with the same error message from the website. Don't think this feature ever worked.
  20. Finishing up a rocking horse for my daughter’s first birthday on Saturday
