  1. Was a green one so not you unless you had taken a dip in the storm water drains.
  2. Green with yellow details
  3. I ordered one last night.
  4. I share your sentiments re the 22km loop ( except the short rocky climb at top of Alberts Farm) and not repeating the so called "Punisher" route next year.
  5. My exact thought. I saw one yesterday during the JUMA tour of the storm water systems and called Momsen this morning. Their medium frame has almost the same dimensions as my Lynskey medium frame.
  6. According to my garmin my elapsed time was 4h50 and my moving time was 4h34 - 16 minutes of standing still at bottlenecks as I did not stop at any waterpoints. Not as bad as I had originally thought it was going to be.
  7. Sadly my Lynskey Pro 29 frame has reached the end of its life. It may now become a wall decoration in my bike room. It started cracking on the joint between the seat and top tubes (on both sides) last July. I had it welded twice but on Saturday I noticed that it had cracked through the welds again and around the back of the seat tube. I can't justify the cost of a new Lynskey frame so I am looking at other options.
  8. That will be a stuff up of note. The reason I am doing the 72km is in an attempt to avoid the bottlenecks.
  9. I have rubber soled commuter shoes with cleats that I always wear for the JUMA. No issues so far with either slipping when walking or being able unclip in time
  10. I was there on Sunday riding the yellow route. The tracks are clear but I was "amazed" at the wide sections of blackjack weeds that have grown next to them.
  11. I am contemplating entering this race as I have never ridden here before. My geared bike is in for a service so I would be on my SS with 34-18 gearing. Would I get frustrated by my lack of gearing on the flat sections in the beginning?
  12. I am really sorry that I had to miss this race because of clash of events for my wife. So we opted for Sabie Experience in early April where ironically my wife crashed, broke her collarbone and had to miss her other event. On my list for 2019.

I use the same targets for my compound bow
  14. We went through the 1st wooden gate at 5h45 this morning. Gate was open and no guard in sight. So I guess yesterday's communication to the guard re cyclists being denied access was incorrect and should have been "closed on Monday, come back tommorrow"
  15. This morning we were stopped at the 1st gate by a security guard who told us that cyclists were not allowed access anymore. In the year that we have lived here and ridden through that gate we have never seen a security guard. Does anyone know what has changed?
  16. I was also a little wary of Bull terriers until I had to foster my sister's one for a year. Beneath that very muscular exterior is a very soft, kind-heart baby.
  17. My daughter lives in Rotterdam and was never a fanatical cyclist. But now thinks nothing of riding 8kms to work in her work clothes during winter. We even talk via whatsapp while she is riding home.
  18. This morning I saw two runners running on the road in the same direction as the traffic and both wearing earphones.
  19. All the bike commuters from Thembisa who ride on the R25 towards Edenvale/Modderfontein ride facing the on-coming traffic. I guess they feel safer being able to see where the numerous taxis are driving.High speed emergency lane driving is the norm for the taxis when the traffic slows down. They ( commuters) always move out into the lane when we cross paths with them.
  20. I am proud of my daughter in Rotterdam. Despite gale force winds which forced closure of airports and railway transport she cycled to work. She was blown off her bike once.
  21. We go out for dinner every Thursday evening and on weekends we cycle together and then have breakfast Other individual hobbies/interests are not huge consumers of time.
  22. At the Bonnefoi abandoned village ( Heritage site) near Carolina. Built in circa 1900.
  23. Doornkop Nature Reserve - between Carolina and Machadodorp.
  24. All of them posted more times in 2017 than I have since 2005
  25. We used our geared bikes for 94.7. It just felt like I only had one gear ( 38-11)
