  1. And to take that even further I read in my Estate's quarterly newsletter today that he is a resident here
  2. Do you know whether it gets sweat build up inside or does it breathe?
  3. Thank goodness he was not there on Sunday as my partner rides faster than I do
  4. We spilt our time between Jhb and Cape Town - two week shifts.- because I am still in WFH situation. So I disconnect the battery of the car that won't get driven during while we are away. But like you I find that I am riding my bikes about 180kms a week and driving about 10kms a week. I live in a little hub of convenience - everything I need to buy or eat is within a 3km radius of both homes.
  5. So do ours. Helps to have a cyclist wife
  6. Went up the road towards Spanish Farm - Helderberg- for the 1st time Interrupted view towards Gordon’s Bay
  7. As an owner of two I approve and the colour is awesome
  8. If you were there then we will excuse a slight loss in memory now.
  9. My wife used to do a similar tour every year for ten years and even got me to do it one year. Unfortunately pre Strava days so I cant help there. If I remember correctly the biggest climb was out of Escort but there are rolling hills most of the way and at that time of the year you may have thunderstorms in the afternoon and wind We had one just as we were going down Olivershoek Pass.
  10. Then there are the Murati trails between Stellenbosch and Klapmuts
  11. The Wannebees club do rides in the vineyards on both sides of the R44 below Stellenrust Road during the week and weekends. Look on their facebook or website for contact details. You would have to buy a day permit to ride with them.
  12. I think it's a black sparrowhawk for last year's comments. It sometimes comes and pays a visit to our eastate. It is much bigger than I imagined. Others already answered on it's identification
  13. Cousin of my ex wife. His wife is also a doctor
  14. I thought all Capetonians did their uphill routes when there is a tailwind.
  15. We were in Somerset West and woke up to light rain. By 7am when we left for our ride the roads were wet and were most of the way to Stellenbosch via the R310. Thereafter our ride was dry out to Klapmuts and home again. But the bikes and our shoes were filth from the spray.
  16. My wife and I. We are digital nomads until my head office reopens sometime in the future. Two weeks in Somerset West and two weeks in Johannesburg has been our schedule since Sept 2020.
  17. We went out at 18h30 into the Raithby vineyards last night after 7 hours in TEAMS meetings. Our proper lights are back in Johannesburg so we only had our small commuter lights but it was still a fun ride.
  18. Took a ride out to Rooiels along R44 and bumped into Dirt Rider out on his Momsen STR at the coffee stop just before Gordon’s Bay
  19. I am. He took me for my first ride in 1998
  20. That's okay - we can still be friends although I played for KZN and Gauteng( Transvaal for many years.
  21. No better feeling than hitting the ball in the sweet spot of the bat. Although this was hit about 5cms too high towards the handle. I wonder if the aluminum bats flex as much!
  22. Interesting concept re longevity of cycling shorts. In 2008 Anatomic sponsored 9 pairs of bib shorts for the Epic. - one for each day and a spare. After the race I kept two pairs to wear and put the balance away. When the 1st two pairs wore out I took another two out to use. Today I took the 9th and last pair out of storage. I ride approx 5000kms per year - not all rides are in lycra. Another achievement is that my weight and body measurements have stayed the same as the shorts still fit.
