  1. I have a bee in my bonnet regarding rotor rings - I fitted a set to our tandem a few years ago but then sold the bike before I had time to ride with them. Now I see that they have a single speed rotor ring listed on their website. I am keen to try one out but cannot figure out how it would keep the chain at a constant tension. I have sliding dropouts on my SS. Has anyone had any experience with this chainring?
  2. I remember watching Nick Bester running the comrades when HR monitors were the big deal. He did not win that year and afterwards he said he was too busy running according to the watch reading than how he felt.
  3. Very nice bike. If I had carried on commuting in Jhb I would have bought one. I had two of those locks to lock up my bikes at the Gautrain stations. They are damn heavy but they gave me peace of mind
  4. Go to World Champs I am doing Josi2Kosi and was looking forward to a peaceful week with normal mtbers
  5. Not ready for such a big step but this is my 1st Toyota car so baby steps.
  6. No cycling related but worth a mention.
  7. We have done 11 of the events on the list. Two that I would really like to do are 3 Towers and Lord of the Chainring - however they are in the middle of my annual budgeting exercise so unless I change companies they will remain on my bucket list
  8. If we went back it would be with 11-28.
  9. We climbed Spitzkop and Long Tom at the Panorama Tour. We are average climbers and felt that our 25 cassette and 39 chainring was too hard.
  10. After a Sunday walk/run in the veld after heavy rain the previous day
  11. I used to leave one bike overnight at Rhodesfield Station and the other one at Sandton Station during the day. I used to lock them to barrier with this lock. No problems for months.
  12. As a Discovery member I have registered a complaint on their helpdesk.

    Sani2C 2014

There are so many stages races to choose from nowdays that we try not do the same race twice
  14. I bought a 2nd hand Edge 705 a couple weeks ago and found that the unit would not clip properly onto the mount. I sent it into Garmin Jhb and they replaced the bottom casing free of charge.
  15. I know. Added it to my cycling library of knowledge. Learn when to keep quiet
  16. Two weeks ago someone asked me when last I fell off my bike. I said about 18 months. Since then two involuntary dismounts.
  17. Wilddog_a and I FLY. What an awesome route. Thanks to all the trail builders and organisers for a great weekend. Hopefully I will be able to ride over slippery branches next time without getting so close to the ground.
  18. I just read on ROAG site that there is a 1hour plus 1 lap race on a 2,5km circuit at 5pm on Friday at Cowan House. This is to build up a thirst.
  19. We will be leaving at about 9am on Friday. Have to let the fog and smog disperse first.
  20. He fell really hard and has been well behaved since then. He has been riding one of my bikes for almost a year
  21. I lent him my Tallboy when they came to spend a weekend with us and the 1st thing he did was try a wheelie. He ended up on his back in the dirt as he touched the front brake instead of the back one. I bought him his own geared 29er
  22. Thanks for the info. BTW - He weighs a mere 95kgs (mostly muscle). His technical skills are sublime. The 1st bike I lent him was an aluminum frame one. Within 2weeks he was doing "small jumps" so I took it away and gave him my steel frame GT.
  23. Hello fellow Hubbers, My daughter's boyfriend will be in your area for the next two weeks on holiday. He has just converted from a free style mx rider to mtbing a few months ago. If anyone one has a spare medium/large mtb to loan him and has the time to ride with him , he is very keen to ride at Jonkershoek. He has taken his cycling kit with him. Send me a PM if you can assist. Thank you. Craig
  24. We are also down to 3 bikes each DS 29er mtb SS 29er mtb road bike
  25. My current set up is:- DS bike -Front - Rocket Ron Snakeskin 2.25 Rear Racing Ralph Snakeskin 2.25 ( Only done one ride with Rocket Ron tyre so I can't comment on it) SS bike - Front - Nobby Nic Snakeskin 2.25 Rear Racing Ralph Snakeskin 2.25 I was a big fan of Conti tyres due to their durability and puncture resistance but I bought a bike with Racing Ralphs and I have really enjoyed the bigger volume and ride feel. Our area is very rocky and we have had no issues with sidewall cuts.
