  1. A lense to sit in your office in New York and take shots of animals in Brazil? Is that the lense only or do the stingy buggers at least throw in a body too?
  2. Cooldown Splashdown at Strand. GoPro in hand Bring on Summer!
  3. Consider the downside if you dont think preventative maintenance will work for you: Replacing Stanchions, Bushings, Seals, Dustwipers and all the rest will work out way more expensive than maintaining your equipment. All of the above can set you back R5k to R6k Unfortunantley, I get to see this way too often. "My fork isnt working anymore, can you fix it?" You should have handed it to me 3 years ago when it first started acting funny!!
  4. What work do you have? Fox Dustwipers and Foamrings are pricey compared to Rock Shox. Fox Dustwipers and Foamrings = R569 RockShox Dustwipers and Foamrings = R199 Labour on a fork service in around R500 Seems you were charged reasonable prices.

  9. For HDR layering, I use Photomatix Pro 5.1 (Download the cracked version, the trial version leaves a nasty watermark all over!) Works pretty cool and is easy to export directly from Lightroom and import again once done. The other presets I use in Lightroom is mostly Googled freebies www.photoinsomnia.com/category/free-stuff/ www.stuckincustoms.com Also has some cool stuff
  10. Silver Protea on the Silver Tree. First time I have ever seen one of these last week even though the are only found in the Cape Peninsula. Numbers are down from around 7000 in the late 1970s to around a 1000 trees in 2005. The Silver Trees were planted and harvested in the 17th and 18th centuries mainly for firewood. The trees grow quickly, up to 8m in 10 years but have a relatively short livespan of only 20 years. Today it is a Rare, Endangered and Protected species.

  12. ... Sorry wrong one ... that one was cropped for instagram
  13. Agreed ... But I am really struggling to find a baseline to work from and I blame the monitors at this stage. I work on a shot on the laptop and it looks one way, lift my head or stand up and it looks different! Copy and paste to view on the lcd monitor at work ... and it looks different! HD TV looks awesome but different! Phone ... looks different. And that is even before exporting to FB or Insta and the apply their own editing. What to do?
  14. Campsbay at the end of Braaiday
  15. Thanks again for the tips! Great news, I found a plugin for layering/blending in Lightroom that works perfectly for what I need. So no need for Photoshop just yet! This is a combination of 3 shots ... what do you recon?
