  1. Anybody else having problems with Mobdro? The stream appears to be broken. Gives me a message that it can't load data
  2. Interesting. Why do you think that?
  3. Safest way around corners on a Harley..
  4. Morning all, I want to make an aluminium helmet chin mount mount for GoPro, similar to the one in the photo. I am finding it difficult to source a small piece of aluminium plate about 500mm by 500mm x 2.4mm. all suppliers wil only sell me 2m sheets! Anyone know of a place in Cape Town which will sell smaller pieces? Cheers and Merry Xmas to all.
  5. Thanks guys. Bundu, where did you buy the Rode and Skylark, I can't find any specs on this mic I'm looking at. How do I find out if it's analogue? For its price - R199 - I doubt it's digital. Thanks again for the feedback
  6. Hi all, I am looking to buy a Gopro mic adapter for my hero8. It looks like the one in the attachment. Trouble is I am not sure if it will work with this mic I have from Takealot for R199. Reviews say it only works with high-end mics. Anyone here have experience of this? Cheers
  7. Just how long would it take to get to this level?
  8. Nice but hey, Ice Cream - does tis mean you're feeling better? Hope so. This will surely help..
  9. Unless you really want an experience which makes OTB seem tame by comparison, be very, very careful when going down stairs on crutches.
  10. Nice looking package all round although the pannier bags look a bit slim to me. Could be empty or just designed to be tall and slim. Nice though.
  11. There are mixed views on this and it boils down to personal choice. "Some say" that hard panniers are more likely to break - particularly at mounting point - on a fall whereas soft luggage won't and even if it does, it's easier to make a workaround solution. I've seen this happen as well as covers bending at the hinges, making them impossible to open or close. Another factor mentioned is that hard luggage is more likely to cause injury if it falls on you, with all those sharp edges and being unyielding. In favour of hard luggage is the fact that it is lockable and you can remove and sit on it out in the bush. I think soft luggage will also protect the bike when falling and stop it from falling entirely flat, depending of course on which soft luggage one uses. All in all, I don't think there's a right or wrong, it's a personal choice informed mainly by the type of riding one does.
  12. Gee, sorry to hear about Mum and condolences. Hope the ride cleared the head. Don't wish to meddle in your plans but thought I would give you an idea of another perspective. I have a GS Avd and while i like the idea of the pannier racks acting as crashbars, they are a bit unsightly. I watch a Bulgarian guy on Youtube who does adventure riding. He used and recommended this product (maybe he's sponsored by them although he says not ) by an outfit called 21Brothers. Seems pretty good and similar to GiantLoop product. Only possible issue would be protection from melting on the exhaust. I thought if you are over in Dubai you could order them. Just an idea. Perhaps after all that, you prefer pannier racks. Here's the one I mean: http://www.21brothers.eu/21brothers.eu/Rogal_30L.html and here's the link to his video on it: or https://rtw-adventures.com/motorcycle-saddlebag-1.html Here are some opinions: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/equipment-reviews/21brothers-sawky-30l-soft-bags-83685 Edit: Multiple spelling mistakes
  13. Looks great but I have a question: I note that you packed all your luggage up high ontop. Any reason for that rather then pannier bags? Doens't it make the bike somewhat top-heavy?

Well, it has definitely affected his lap times. Down in 12th as I watch...

Slightly off topic but I loved the way BB dived past Zarco and hunted down Dovi this weekend. Very impressive.

It seems he was doing better than we thought but went off because of Crutchlow's off. I think the cameras missed that. Brad Binder: “The race started OK but I got a bit boxed-in through the first two-three corners. I didn’t want to take too much of a risk with the full fuel tank and I knew the Long Lap penalty was coming early on. As soon as I did it I dropped down the order and worked to catch back up but then Cal Crutchlow crashed in front of me and I had to run off the track! I lost a few more seconds that lap. The comeback was not bad. I felt good and the bike worked really well today. Even when the tires were used we could keep the same lap-times. It was a shame about the result because we had the pace for much better but I’m really happy and I think we can do a good job next weekend.”

    Dazza doing well: https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2020/10/16/binder-bags-top-spot-in-chilly-moto3-fp1-in-aragon/350604
  19. I had that problem too until I put them in "backwards". Makes sense actually because the widest part of the plug is in your ear where it should be, not sticking out doing nothing. I squash them up and push them in quite far and can actually hear them expanding to fill the ear canal.
  20. I think earplugs are essential to protect your ears. I have tinnitus and it's a shocker. I wonder how folk use intercoms and stuff though? Quick question followed by a tip: Which ear plugs do you use? Tip: I have tried many, including bike-specific ear plugs from bike shops and find the simple cone-shaped plugs from Dischem to be the best. And by far the cheapest. Tip no2: Inset them with the wide part into your ear with the point sticking out. It seems counter-intuitive but you will find it is the most effective. Squeeze them to a narrow width, insert and then listen as the sound disappears as they expand. Bliss. Haha

I've often wondered aboutt he safety issue with tear-offs. They can blow around on track so imagine riding over one in a bend?
  24. Following GoPro's recommendations for working with the troublesome HEVC files, I installed and use Handbrake. Seems to work OK and converts HEVC to H.264. It's an extra hassle and cost of time though. Then, again, with GoPro's recommendation I'm using VSDC to do the video editing on converted files. Very steep learning curve for me and my oldish quadcore really struggles even with 16Gb RAM. If you want it can oupt HEVC again so I like it but of course if you post to YouTube it reduces quality ayway. And another thing. To upload a 5 minute video to Youtube to 2 hours and 38 minutes! Ouch But I have to say watching the finished videos direct from storage device on my TV is amazing. The quality is fantastic. I'd be interested to hear the experiences of others.
  25. I just bought the 8 and am happy with it - except for the non-removeable lens cover. I see the 9 has its cover removeable again. I have watched some video comparisons and don't see any improvement over the 8 but of course there is improved battery life and an extra feature or two. I have huge problems editing with HEVC codecs so I can't see the use of 5k ability except for added resolution when reducing to 4k. Anybody else have a Hero 8 and have editing problems?
