I am aware of your aversion to the stretchy stuff. I was ineptly referring to the generic cyclist. I agree it is the law and needs to be complied with. I appreciate that an effort is being made to deal with cyclist safety and I hope that these new measures will give all road users cause to reflect on their road behaviour.

Motor vehicles require reflectors in situations where their headlights are not on, eg when parked at the side of the road. Reflectors are not effective in daylight. 4(1) requires a cyclist to have lit front and rear lights between sunset and sunrise. These lights will be visible long before reflected light is and if a motorist cannot see your lights, reflected lights are not going to save your lycra-clad butt.

S4(1) obviates S4(3). Makes no sense.

The roads are generally in very good condition and the municipality does a good job of keeping the roads clean. The current mess and storm damage is being cleaned up so everything will be fine by December. I have never had an excessive amount of punctures (very few in fact). Your Michelins should be fine.

I apologise for the highjack, but I found it impossible to resist that set-up.
