  1. Fan in front. Aircon top left. I love my rollers. Video is trail seeker on Vimeo. Recommended.
  2. I rode the course on Friday in the heat. Loose over hard conditions. I thought it was the most technical course I had ever ridden. The climbs were brutal and the decents were so challenging. I cannot imagine going out there in the wet. I was a spectator on Saturday. Much respect to the racers!
  3. Streaming 101. I need some confirmations please. Raspberry Pi and say Apple TV are hardware. Kodi and iTunes are software that allow you to access content that you have stored or wish to stream. Basically the software allows you to use apps to access content on the web, the trick is to find the apps that will allow you to view the content you want. Am I on the right path here?
  4. Yes. That is the one I was referring to. The 1l
  5. Don't know if this will help. It's a 1l and not 500ml as I initially thought.
  6. Relative to buying the shimano oil in the little bottles. The castrol at that price is the cheaper option by far. I just like to keep things original.
  7. Buy the Shimano oil in 500ml. It's much cheaper and will last you forever.

    RIFLE

Write all three competency tests and pass at an accredited institution. Gun shop: buy the weapon, apply for license, weapon remains in dealer stock until license is approved. Collect license card from SAPS DFO and then go to gun shop and collect weapon. Private sale: agree to purchase weapon and both parties agree on a gun shop to use, seller places firearm in dealer stock at gun shop, he signs your fire arm application consenting to the transfer and you apply for the license. There after same procedure as above. This is a good system for both of you. I would buy a rifle bag to store the rifle in whilst in storage at the gun shop though.

    RIFLE

I have shot rifles all my life, I own a few as well. Fired a 416 rigby and it put my neck out. The Cyropractor said I had whiplash similar to what he sees in car crash victims. Beware the heavy calibres. I own a 375 which I shoot occasionally, it's quite comfortable to shoot. Fired the 470ne and the 500ne. I have access to a 460 weatheby which I decline to shoot! My 300wm is easy to shoot as it is heavy but a light model will get your attention, so the heavier the callibre you choose pay attention to the mass of the rifle as heavier rifles generally have less felt recoil. My favorite rifle is my 243 in ruger no1. It's so accurate and just a pleasure to shoot. Another point to the OP, please write all three competency tests, I assure you, you will thank us later. What will happen is that you will go hunting and one evening someone will pull out a shotgun and you will have a go at a few waterfowl that are returning to the water at sundown, soon you will be convinced of a need for a shotgun. As you get more into it you will tell yourself that you need a 9mm as well because three gun looks awesome fun and you are heading to the range anyway, and you saw a really great 223 semi auto rifle last week. And it goes on. I have the sickness....welcome.

    Formula 1...

Decided to give F1 a chance again after the last few seasons were hopeless at captivating me. Qualifying was poor to watch, now the red flag for 20 mins where everyone has tea whilst they sweep the track. Keep it, I will enjoy the Moto GP tonight.
  11. Thanks Rich. RR looking good
  12. Thank you. I am in agreement with you.
  13. Hello there, have any of you had a look at the Vittoria Peyote? I am curious. I am a racing Ralph fan but when I wanted to fit new Tyres for Sani there are no 2,1 available in the 2015 tyre. I run American Classic wide lightning wheels on a Cannondale Flash carbon HT 29. I am a racer. 78kg. I am running RR 2,25 front and a crosmark 2,1 as my training Tyres. I have a thunder burt in 2,1 but don't think that is suitable for sani! I have a worn Geax AKA which I did not realy like, don't know why but I don't want it as a tyre. I have also gone through a set of the Onza Cannis Tyres and did enjoy them but still my first choice is the RR. I won't race on the Crossmark. I have also torn the sidewalks of the two RR evo Tyres that came with my bike so those are out as well. Snakeskin for me. Another option is the x king, I don't know the tyre at all. Any input on my best solution for Sani would be appreciated, I would describe my riding style as smooth in the technical sections, I ride karkloof on the racing Ralph's and have no issues with grip. Much appreciated Ryan
  14. Sorry must add that I have the Gauge high volume. http://www.competiti...=GIR0339-BK-S39 Sorry about the strike through, I cant turn it off or space with the enter key!

  16. I am 5ft 11.5 inches and 82 kg I ride the Medium carbon flash. The 2014 with the full xt. I fall in-between M and large but am really comfortable on the Medium. the 90mm travel on the lefty is adequate for xc. I rode a BMC carbon Hard tail before this bike and I am really happy with the Cannondale. Note though the bar height on the Cdale is tall and it is a mission to get the bars way down. I am actually enjoying the more upright position and it has not compromised my climbing.
  17. Thanks for the input friends, I am still undecided. The chap who has invited me to partner him is a very competitive cyclist and I have been informed we are racing the event. He is very experienced at Sani and is dead set against the 1 x11. If I ignore his recommendation and struggle, I am looking for trouble I feel. I could ride what I have and just finish, but to race adds another dimension to the equation. I have time I suppose. I appreciate the input and your help Ryan
  18. Thanks for the reply's Chaps. The advantages as I see them are that the system is simplified as I loose a chain ring, derailleur, shifter and cable. The issue is, what cost does the simplification demand. In terms of weight saving I will be progressing from XT Cranks and chain rings to xx1 cranks and chainring, this with the derailleur / shifter should yield a small drop in weight. I am training for 2015 not 2014. This year I am concentrating on Triathlon so as to build a good aerobic capacity and then I will focus on the bike training in the months prior to the event. I also decided I rode too much and needed to cross train a bit, hence the triathlon. On a side not Running does cycling no favours! The obvious concern is the compromise in selecting the ratios. I am happy to change my front chainring to suit specific races, the advantage I have is that I have time on my side and can learn the system as I ride this year. Getting it wrong at Sani means blowing a year and a half's training and letting my partner down. To those that posted info on the actual race I am much obliged, and thanks to everyone who posted so far.
  19. I have been invited to ride S2S in 2015. I currently Ride a 2 x 10 XT setup with a 38 / 24 front and 36 / 11 Rear. Bike is a BMC TE02 and Medium hard tail. I am upgrading my frame to a BMC TE01 and as my current drivetrain is worn I am looking to change to XTR 2x10 or XX1 1x11. I am 181 cm tall, 83 kg. 39 years old. I am a fit rider as confirmed by VO2 max testing done at the Prime institute in Durban. I race XC marathon and I am competitive in my age category. As far a technical ability I can ride the trails at Karkloof (the difficult options) with my XC Hard tail setup. I am very comfortable on the 2x 10 but the 1x 11 has undeniable advantages. I am going to be racing Sani and have never ridden it so would appreciate any info that you guys could give me. I am obviously concerned of not having a low enough gear for really steep climbs, I also don't want to spin the hell out of my legs to go any where. What can you tell me.... Thanks Ryan
  20. I hear you. I got my seeding today but am not riding. All my buddies are rearing to go and I am deciding to chill on race day. Best of luck on your recovery.
  21. Morning Friends Thanks for the support and recommendations, I am afraid it is to no avail as I am not getting over it fast enough. 4 Days to go and I am not feeling good. Have tried to rest and take my Vit C and Viral Guard, Listerine antiseptic as a gargle, and an Andolex spray. I have pre registered so I have until Saturday to decide but I think it will be wise to sit this one out. Disappointing. Thanks again Ryan
  22. Thanks guys. I will make my strategy. Rest and vit C. I do feel I am on a downward slope though. I. Tried Viral choice but it unbalanced me. I will try it after meals as suggested. Thanks again Ryan.
  23. 1 week to go until Hill 2 Hill. 105km MTB marathon. I rode a 70k yesterday and felt flat. Woke up this morning with a sore throat and general head cold. I am supposed to do a 50k race tomorrow but have cancelled that as H2H is priority. Any cures that have worked for you in a similar situation? Thank you Ryan.
