  1. Wow they really are coming crawling out of the woodwork today.
  2. What ridiculous logic.
  3. I doubt you fill find an official on here, and I would be stunned if (by some small miracle you did find one) that official would be prepared to put a time frame, no matter how loose, on anything. Maybe contact Rob at PPA.
  4. By all accounts that should be back up and running fairly soon (hope I haven't jinxed it now).
  5. I would reply in depth but I'm too busy learning to read... Do you have any insight into what is happening at Cecelia, or even Tokai for that matter, that the most of us don't have? Why don't you do some research before jumping on the 'Parks fault and nobody else is to blame' bandwagon. The problem at Cecelia was not brought on by anything Parks did, said or announced.
  6. Table Mountain Bikers is his club, he formed it. He does have passion that's fair to say but all I am saying is if he is going to wear two hats, one as TMB and the other as PPA, then he has to be very aware of peoples perceptions. Because we all love a good scandal, even if it is just imaginary.
  7. Are you suggesting that Rob uses PPA processes to push funds into his personal club? All applications for funding need to be treated equally in order to avoid the kind of unsavoury accusations that reared their ugly head a week or so back on here. Can you imagine the meltdown if the first group to receive worthwhile trail funding was his own club? Ouch...
  8. It's more than just signage though, by the looks of things somebody jumped the gun on announcing something before a full agreement had been met.
  9. That would have to be one brave employee with the thickest skin imaginable.
  10. This whole post is a bit rich given it is written by someone that often posts asking people to pay and stick to the rules when riding Paarl. So which is it? Do what you want or follow the rules?
  11. Well maybe if we bothered, you know, abiding by the rules the ranger wouldn't have needed to be sat there waiting? But oh no because we are entitled mountainbikers we get to do what we want and then whine like bitter children when it goes wrong. Time and time again people are found riding in areas they are not supposed to and then the poor sods that are actually working hard for official access end up that bit further away from the goal. Want to sort it out? Then join a group that engages with Parks, City of Capetown, landowners, other user groups etc and do something positive.
  12. Tim I have no argument with what you have posted but there is more than just SANParks screwing the pooch here. A. SANParks crap communications leading to; B. Table Mountain Bikers releasing the info and not realizing that; C. Mountainbikers will read the bit that suits them and block out anything that doesn't suit them. Which seems to be pretty much what has happened here.
  13. There was also an email saying cyclists would be fined.
  14. Which is what I thought was the case. Not open, stay away so we don't bugger up the prospect of it actually opening.
  15. Not really, there isn't *that* much confusion. Until signage goes up indicating that cycling is allowed we need to stay away.
  16. It's all a bit mad isn't it. "You can go that way, but not the other. Probably. But when there is a full moon you can go both, or that's what I think they told us"...
  17. I have been informed that since the start of the month they have been available in town. Don't ask me where in town though as Parks don't seem to have gone as far as actually advertising the fact. Oh and to the best of my knowledge up until a week (roughly) ago the sales in town came to exactly nil. None. Zero. Good stuff from Parks there...
  18. So when Tokai reopens nobody will ride there? Are you for real?
  19. Last information I saw on this was that you will still currently be liable for a fine riding Cecelia, it may change soon but right now we shouldn't be there.
  20. My first thought is if they put up a picture of an actual cyclist the next step would involve a mob, pitchforks and fire. Lots of fire. We aren't popular.
  21. Best dog I ever met was my dad's spaniel, properly trained to the gun and the fittest animal imaginable. It used to be walked off the lead a minimum of two hours a day during the week and was out and about with us roving around the north Wales countryside for countless hours every weekend. It once got attacked by a rather unfit Doberman and unfortunately for the Doberman the old adage 'its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog' held true. It ended up running away squealing after hitting what amounted to the fittest most agile dog shaped piece of granite imaginable. I was devastated when old age finally took that dog.
  22. Stellenbosch with a good group of friends and my youngster I managed to amuse everybody by hitting the deck, hard, roughly 20 meters from the end of the trail. On a flat, straight, smooth section... 23. Spent a good portion of Sunday riding around a few of the Stellenbosch trails with a group of friends and my youngster. Ben shows me how to take a drop... http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/Ben%20Coetzenberg_zpshmr0hpn0.png http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/DSC_0328_zpsvckkfycy.jpg
  24. If you discount anything made outside of the USA... Same goes for their list of comedies because, yeah, nobody else makes comedy or drama.
