  1. Believe me in this - he still scores. The old jeep track looks and feels like a flat district road after being on the new one.
  2. You need a permit for any of the bits that go through TMNP land, so essentially yes if you want to do a reasonable distance. Given the eye watering price of day permits if you intend doing this a few times I would get an annual activity permit. I always found the easiest place to get the permit is Tokai but they are closed on weekends. Copy and paste from another thread - Purchasing of activity permits can be done on weekdays at the Tokai Wildcard Sales Offices, while Cape Town Tourism Offices located at Kirstenbosch, Simonstown, the Airport and the centre of town offer other alternatives to purchase the Activity Permit (these sites are open on weekends too).
  3. That was fantastic and ties in nicely with where the movie ended.
  4. Hikers don't pay. And given that the trails are built and maintained using donations that come from cyclists, cycling organizations or cycle friendly businesses it's not really correct to say they score when the money they pay for the activity permit doesn't ever go into the trails.
  5. Most but not all, that is being remedied later in the week.
  6. As Myles said Boulders is dual direction and Puff Adder (although short) is too. There will be a short trail guide put out in the next day or two for anybody that has questions.
  7. Have you not seen the 'Goodbye DSTV' and 'Let me introduce KODI to you' threads? You don't need another reason to bin it off, there are plenty already.
  8. She knew you were a dentist, there can be no other reason.
  9. Have a close look at the photo that pops up in episode 9 and that should answer a question or two.
  10. I'm loving it and am rapidly vanishing down the road towards being an uber nerd when it comes to all the theories etc in there.
  11. I haven't seen it mentioned here but "Utopia", a Channel 4 (UK) series is brilliant. A bit mad but brilliant.
  12. Told you. That bloody snake was just the first of your shocks for the day
  13. 14 years old and set in his ways.
  14. Copy & paste job for you - Yesterday was a milestone for mountain biking in Cape Town! The revised EMP for Mountain Biking was officially adopted and signed by the Table Mountain National Park manager,on behalf of San Parks and Meurant Botha,as chair of the Table Mountain MTB Forum. The signing has paved the way for the opening of a number of existing footpaths, based on a Trailsharing principle. It really is in the hands of the cyclists to make this a success. It is especially important, when we get access to a trail in Newlands Forest,Kirstenbosch and Cecilia Forest. These areas are dog walking "bastions" and we know that Kirstenbosch is an area that protects our local flora. We are privileged to be able to use these spaces as Transit routes to get to Hout Bay,the Greenbelts and further on,Tokai. Based on lessons learnt from the Greenbelts trail project, first 6 months of Trailsharing will be tough, with current users not wanting cyclists to share paths with them and some cyclists not understanding the need to slow down, get off your bike or pat a dog. We've all got to be prepared to bite our tongue (walkers & cyclists) and understand that this is a shared space and we all love being outdoors. Diffuse a situation with a friendly word & a smile! It works. We will publish maps and communicate more information as we get closer to 1 December. There will be a group ride on 1 December, through a section of new trails, most likely from Rhodes Memorial to Constantia Nek. You'll need your activity permits to join us. Yesterday was a big step forward for MTB in Cape Town. Thank you to everyone that made it possible and kept the faith! P.S. Tokai is still set to open 31 December. We did ask for Tokai to open on 1 December, but an indemnity document, sitting on a desk in Pretoria, needs a signature. That is the holdup, over which we have little influence.
  15. No, people can have an opinion that differs from yours.
  16. More likely the US version that most over here seem to watch.
  17. If it's anything like the, classic, movie then very much yes.
  18. Even if it is only your last line that is true then for those kids it's a worthy exercise.
  19. That line says it all really.
  20. He kind of exploded in a thread and got banned. Bit of a pity in many ways because, despite the meltdowns, Gerhard a lot to offer and he generally meant well.
  21. Meow. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/ll_cat_sound_zps12hqin7y.gif But an unfortunate amount of true too...
  22. Can't say I blame you in your situation I would have resembled a scene from 'The Flash', possibly setting a land speed record in the process. If the wait for the lift was too long I would have been considering window options. I was there a couple of years back getting a parking fine thrown out on the very reasonable grounds that the vehicle in question was described as a red Mercedes and was parked outside a ladies hairdressing shop in Woodstock. My car being a white Landy and me not frequenting either Woodstock or ladies hair salons really played in my favour. But damn that court is a depressing place.
  23. Sharp, very sharp. Personally I think Madness should be their house band.
  24. inSANityParks?
  25. People will be looking at this and thinking "There's a gap..."
