  1. People who ride without helmet make excellent organs donors! Organs are in short supply, doctors know this!! I'm against a nanny state but I can do the maths and I never ride without a helmet!
  2. Go to the green arrow on the map. More more details, search "Eden, Stellenbosch" in google maps will get you pretty close
  3. Know the difference...
  4. Just turn off the sound the commentators were k@k. Two roadies trying to sound interested, ruined what was excellent coverage. Hope like hell the rest of the world didn't get the DSTV supersport commentators.
  5. Compared to the France-Nice ironman the Cape Town course is flat! France bike profile:
  6. I agree the "The competitor" fork is f&^ked but lefty is still an awesome fork!
  7. Here is the list of South African Downhill rider who have enough UCI points to ride or have been selected. I'm sure most of them will be there! 8. Try Coral wetsuit in Woodstock http://www.coralwetsuits.co.za/ I had a custom wetsuit make up for me, with triathlon arms and normal surfing wetsuit body for R1200 (last year). Managed a 1:08 with it at ironman, now I use it to kite surf. You can go back and have it altered for free, if they did not get the cut right.
  9. I think this link pretty much covers what you need to know: http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/humour-so-you-want-to-be-a-mountain-biker-14501

    ACTION PHOTO

The problem with most of these photos is that they are usually taken near the top of climb. The photo is BORING!! I would never buy this type of photo, no matter how cheap. But make the photo interesting/exciting like ripping up single track, technical section, a river crossing... and now you got an "Action" photo. Also it is something memorable about the event, not a generic "top of hill" snap. For this type of photo I would be prepared to pay +R100!
  11. Olympic distance and shorter = no socks Races that are longer I demand the extra comfort of socks.

  15. Turn the stem around. So that the stem is now pointing up and not level as it is currently. Also add spacers on the headset so the stem is higher.
  16. This from Chris Nixon: Western Cape DH Championships Contermanskloof I have been trying to make this happen for a while now but have not had any luck with getting a sponsor for this event. There are still some sponsorship possibilities that look promising but even if these do not materialise we will still make this event happen on the 11th and 12th December 2010. The course is a new one that has been built by Robert Stark of Contermanskloof specifically for this event. I rode the course this past Friday and what a course it is, world class and really steep. It can be ridden on hard tails as well. This will be the normal 10am to 4pm practice on Saturday and then again practice on Sunday from 8am to 9:30am and racing will start at 10am on Sunday. A video of the course will be posted here soon so keep watching this space. Directions: Take the N7 towards Malmsberry and then take the Potsmans turn off. Turn right over the N7 and follow the road to the T junction. At the T junction turn left onto Contermanskloof Road past the quarry on your right and then another 1km turn right into Contermanskloof road and it will be sign posted from here. If you are coming from Durbanville you can go along the Fissershoek Road and at the 4 way stop turn left into Contermanskloof Road and then the farm is about 2km further on on your left hand side. or GPS -33.80019,18.572731. 18. An artist, an architect, and an cyclist were sitting around discussing whether each enjoyed spending time with the wife or the mistress. The architect says, "I like spending time with my wife, because the stability and endurance of my marriage helps me design better buildings." The artist says, "I like spending time with my mistress, because the passion and mystery of the affair influences my art." The cyclist says, "I like both." The architect and the artist are puzzled. "Both?" The cyclist replies, "Yeah, both. Each thinks I'm spending time with the other, and I can go riding!"
  19. I'm also curious to know why are you only allowed ride Tuesday to Thursday?
  20. " chainring in the face"
  21. I don't have dstv, so I've probably got the details wrong. But from what I read the increase is R30 or 6% and last increase was a year ago.... seems pretty standard. Seriously a poll was created for this? And who is going to vote "Good", ever on price increase?
  22. Looks like they have decided to fix the amount to a Rand value. No longer a Pound value. Was 250 Pounds which at 15 is R3750. Bad luck for us that the Rand has strengthened to about 12.25
