  1. Love the colour purple! Well done so far on the 'Nago!
  2. So guys and girls in Johannesburg having the next retro bike ride on Sunday am. Tweaking the Deltas so I can stop at least once or twice. Looking forward to the ride and seeing a few familiar faces again.
  3. Convinced my son to join my wife and I and ride one of my bikes. But which one! See you on Sunday.
  4. I need some help and assistance. Having recently acquired this NOS drive side Dura Ace 10 pista crank for its beauty I would like to find a partner (left crank arm), sprocket(s) and chain. The arm is 170mm in length. Is anyone aware of where I might get a 10mm pitch chain and sprockets? Anyone recall which LBS may have stocked them? Until I find parts I have placed the crank in my wife's display cabinet in the TV lounge hoping it will take a while for her to notice before its thrown out. Please help!
  5. I recently acquired a Raleigh built Carlton and will post some pics later. The bike was involved in an accident and needs a new fork.

  7. Raleigh made some Carlton frames under licence in SA in the 70-80's
  8. Finished rebuilding these in the week. It's getting warmer and quite pleasant to work in the garage during the evenings. Lotus Sport with Madfiber wheels and 10spd DA. Giant Once team TT bike with SRAM Red and Mavic Carbone Premium wheels. Look KG196 with Record and Bora Ultra's
  9. Go to eBay link and scroll down until you see the price of the Colnago bar tape at $500!
  10. Beautiful clunkers
  11. How is your bakkie?
  12. Nice to see it is a Zeus! I have some treasured Zeus parts that I value similar to the 50th Anniversary bits.
  13. Because the Colnago has already been sprayed, I would do it again. You can only add value. I have a Pinarello Montello frame also in bad condition. Planning to re chrome and spray back to original. From pics of your Pinarello the touch ups are almost going to cause 80-90% of the frame being re sprayed in any event. I would re spray
  14. Yes, it's mine and yes too big for me but I could not resist buying the frame. I will be in PE from Sept 19th for a week. Get fit, as we are hoping to do a couple of rides. How about organising a retro ride for either the 20th or 26th?
  15. So I had a productive afternoon listening to Mix FX and having one or two cold draughts. Daccordi track bike estimated from late 80's? My first build not using Italian (or European) parts on an Italian frame. Apart from NOS Miche Primato BB the remaining parts are: Drive chain: Suntour Superbe crank 50T chainring (jazzed up old crank bolts which were a mishmash of makers) KMC chain Durace 16t sprocket Suntour Superbe pista pedals with NOS Christophe toeclips and old Le Tour straps Wheelset: DuraAce 7400 hubs on Wolber aero rims with new Vittoria SC Rallye tubbies Shimano 600 seat post with Vetta saddle (Sugino seat pin) Levin Tange headset Ditto Craft stem with 3ttt bars (don't have any pista bars, sorry!) with San Marco bar tape
  16. 100% correct!
  17. Lovely pictures Kamaal and Warren! The brown leather works so well with the black frame. Well done Kamaal.
  18. Guys and girls, we seem to be missing the point here. Two deserving young ladies are going on a great adventure. Congratulations on being chosen, go and make an impact in Europe! In an ideal world all our top 20 riders should be sent. The fact that two are going is better than none. My two cents.
  19. EvanB normally arranges the date and time. Will chat to him and we will post details on this thread. Great fun to admire bikes and get to know faces behind hub names!
  20. Wrong flag!
  21. Not 100% sure as I have not measured the distance but its +-30km with a stop halfway for photos and for slower riders to catch up. It is a social event and certainly not a training ride with partners and children encouraged to join in the fun.
  22. Warren, we look forward to seeing you and the bike at the next retro ride at the Cradle. Send EvanB a PM with your mobile number to make sure you get an invite. Great morning out with lots of time to chat and admire each others bikes after the ride over breakfast.
  23. I will drop my offer to R1,500! P.S. I am growing and one day soon I will be able to ride a bigger frame size.
  24. On that note Heyyou, I will give you R2,000 for your Somec!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Warren, your profile does not say where you live but if you are in Jhbg area I would gladly have a look at the bike and give you an opinion. From the photos the frame doesn't look to be in a bad way and after a strip down and thorough clean you would be able to decide. Somec's always had fancy paint jobs and it is very hard to replicate the original work. PLUS, you loose value if the frame is repainted so my advise only respray if the paint work is in very bad condition (or it has been resprayed before). Heyyou has a lovely example and so does Glenzito and Fixer (or at least they did).
