    D2D 2014

Dont know what to make of the race...it was my first dome 2 dome so cant compare. Started in CL and manage a 3:00:34, just sad about the 34sec. Didnt enjoy the downhill start as people where flying down there and yet it was suppose to be a neutral zone. The cars didnt really bug me it was like riding around the cradle. I feel the end needed signage showing you where to go, must say all and all it was a good day out.
  4. I Have a set of Q-rings on my mtb, (Not sure about the mechanical advantage) but it took me awhile to get use to them as it feels like you always pushing or pulling and your legs dont rest. I do love them now as I feel my pedal stoke has improve and will definitely put a set on my road bike when I have some extra cash to blow. My 2 cents not sure if it helps.
  5. hi guys What are you guys looking for: New routes in the area? Training partner? or just a social ride along?
  6. Lekke Rouxtjie, wit is die enegste colour boet! You must feel like you going to Monsoon Lagoon on ladys night when you get on the road bike. I went cheap white Shimano SH-R088 wide (vir my boer voete) & Shimano PD-R550 pedals
  7. The other thing that can happen and it happened to me this year is that they send it to my Cycle Club and not to my PO Box - so also check with your club to see if they don't have it.
  8. Hi Stiggy Im riding a Giant TCR (2013) and love my bike its good value for money for a of the shelve bike. Here is my but - I ride from time to time with Marco and the guys from Cycle tech (They the guys brining Argon in) and I must say Im very impress with the Argon. I do think for R25K, you would be able to put a very nice Argon together. Hope it helps.
  9. Why would you want to make every ride a training ride? Personal view, it will take the fun out of trail riding!
  10. Everyone is looking for a bargain thats why these things will never work. I was at the 94.7 qhubeka charity evening and saw how some bloke bought a MTN Qhubeka team bike with all the bells and whistles plus a extra frame in his size for R67K what a bargain as these bikes are valued at about R110K.
  11. Sjoe but you guys are fast I stay in Sundowner and I know exactly what you struggling with, ive given up looking for roadies riding out our way in the mornings as for some reason there is no one that rides there or know any routes, but if you look on strava there is a k@k load of segments around us. (I will confess I do know more MTB trails out our way than road) Im currently doing E2E on Wednesdays and Fridays, home-Engen-Engen-home Start 4:15 ends 6:30 home - 65km. So it would be nice to get a 50-60km loop locally.
  12. This was my first 94.7 and my second road race I must say big up for the organisers, I was riding with the qhubeka guys in GG and manage a 2:58 very happy. Will definitely be back for next year.
  13. On your summer question - I got them last feb did a couple of rides and races but sort of stopped as work, travel and cycling didn't mix. Didn't ride through winter and only a couple of rides in December started with proper riding since beginning this year. Im starting to think it might be the shoes and they showing their true colours. Did you go to a podiatrist to see about your bridge and your general foot support or was it more trial and error? I will try the shoes inner tonight just to see what happens. Thanks for the help and information.
  14. I dont understand that either that I only have problems now, I can only think of 2 the heat and my feet is swelling in the narrow front or the shoes are worn. I think it might be worn, I had a quick look and it seems that they have done over 3000km since April this year. I use the pearl izumi inners the very nice.
  15. Hahaha I was waiting for that one.... I got both my bikes ergofit and I have not messed with it but I will have a look, the only thing is I get it on the indoor trainer as well, so im blaming the shoe or maybe its because Im close to 40 and im starting shrink
  16. Thanks trek fan I will go try some shoes and see if I can get a set that works. Thanks for the advice.
  17. Hi Hennie thanks for the advice, I think I do curl my toes and I have tried to relax them but its not really working. Seeing that it only started when the weather got warmer, it might be that my feet swell in the narrow italian shoes, will have to go look for shoes made for the "african plat voet" its just a bit sad that the shoes only lasted a year and a half as they where expensive.
  18. Not sure if anyone has had this or have any idea how to prevent/cure this. Background: I do about 240 - 300km a week thats about 9-10hr split between MTB and road riding. I have good shoes "Mavic's" and been riding with them for the past year and a half. I ride with the same shoe on the road so both pedals on the MTB and the road bike is SPD's. Problem: 2 weeks ago on a MTB ride my left foots toes cramped so badly after about 55km, that after we stopped at about 72km my toes where blue as a result of the cramps and sore for about 2 days after. From that day I have been having toe cramps every time I ride, regardless if its road or MTB. What I have tried so far (nothing has worked from below): Move cleat positioning Bought a expensive inner that can be lifted at the toe or bridge Loosening shoe Tightening shoe Solution: ?????????????????
  19. I dont understand the results, as I completed the race in 2:20 for the 80km my race chip number was in the results, when I asked them to link my name to the race chip (as the guy at the number collection didn't do it) my results disappeared. They said it will be up in 2 days its 3 and im still waiting..... got to love this! I especially like the guy who did a 48 average for the 80km
  20. Not sure if we talking about the same guys, in the 80km A-bunch there was a guy that almost got klapped for not holding his line. This was my first road race and I thought this was a bit uncalled for as no one was really holding their line in the bunch.
  21. hahaha, I tough it was a roadie thing the "no goody bag" (first road race so didn't know what to expect) but hey the last MTB races I did I got socks. My personal opinion - good bags are like medals it just fills up my house. Best thing I ever got when I finished a race was at the GR300, not a medal but a pair of UV Sleeves.
  22. Hi there sat with the same problem - you have to give it access to your location service. you can find it in settings - privacy - Location Services scroll down and switch it on also make sure your main Location service is on. This should sort it out.
  23. Man very sad this is my " no pink slip short run" hope your mate is ok and thanks for the info.
