  1. Hey guys...

Apologies if I hijack this thread, but seeing while the discussion is around Wahoo, I'd like to know from the fellow wahoo (bolt) users, How do you guys find the battery life?

On yesterday's 124km ride (6hr moving time) 7hr37min elapsed time, I had 18% batt life left. Now this is probably not bad at all, given I have turned off everything that will only chow battery life.

I do want to find out from you fellow users, does the strava live segment alos chow alot of battery life or not really?

    Again, sorry for the hijack.

  2. Morning to all the trusty Hubbers

Does anyone have any experience on Goodyear Peak tyres? Looking at maybe getting a set.

    - Sidewall

    - Mileage

    - Grip

Just general kinda comments would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  3. Morning on this beautiful heritage day...

I know the topic has been discussed a few times on the hub through searches but it is kind of outdated...

So with a few years past is there anywhere in SA where you can buy ceramic bearings?

The popular brands like Kogel and C-Bear is only available overseas as far as i know or are they available locally?

Enjoy your ride today and the braai!!!

    Cheers

  4. Hey Hubland

Anyone knows of a place where i can donate some cycling gear (clothing)? Preferably in Cape Town area where i can drop it off.

Mostly jerseys/gloves that im not wearing anymore, maybe some kid from a cycling academy can still benefit from it i hope.

I know CWC had a bin as you walked in sometime ago, but i haven't been there in ages. Still there?

    Thank you

  5. There is a Rockhopper Adventures in Caledon with a satellite shop in Greyton, and there is a bike shop in Gansbaai.

The shop in Bredasdorp has been closed for a while (owner has since passed away.)

There is a bicycle shop in Swellendam, and Riversdal Cycles in Riversdal as well.

There are three bike shops in Hermanus.

What area do you plan to move to? Hermanus is a fair bit away from the rest of the Overberg, and the population density isn't that high.

Pity you weren't around when Euodia Bike shop was for sale, it would have been the perfect start with a shop with an already established client base.

Edit: Scratch Rockhopper in CAM country.

Bike shop in Gansbaai is also closed down. No more.

  6. My trusty old HT purchased 8 years ago for less than R20K, have over 42,000km on it with more kilos being added every week.

That said, now I also have a FS in my garage worth more than R20K and it is more fun & faster in just about every aspect... (and far less expensive to maintain than I anticipated).

That "perception" might have more truth in it than you imagine.

Willie, then i must seriously been doing something wrong as i find that a full sus is more expensive to maintain than a hardtail...

I have been toying with the thought for a number of months now to go back to a hardtail, but thinking of that long corrugated karoo roads in the middle of the night... you will be the first one to slap me through the face.

  7. that sucks, where were you parked? just asking so people know what the MO is of these chops

I've parked at ICC convention centre a few times. nice and equidistant between start and finish, straight off the highway and i suppose secure.

We parked close to the staring venue on the castles side... not sure which flippen street it is. Quiet a big parking area filled with other cyclist as well and a about 800m away from the start. Hence the reason we parked there.

  8. Bit of mixed emotions for my wife and i at the moment...

We did our 1st ever CTCT and being the loving husband i am i dropped down from my starting group to my wife's group (4G) to ride with her and just enjoy an amazing day out on the bike and amazing it was. It truly is the most beautiful race in the world and a super fun day out enjoying the vibe.

Rolling across the finish amped that we just completed our 1st ever CTCT and that on our MTB's, we were on a high but that quickly turned into anger and disgust as we were informed that our car was broken into and almost everything was stolen... All our bags with our clothes, extra cycling clothes and cycling stuff, my personalized Scicon cycling bag and some other stuff... Turns out that 3 other cars in the same parking area was also broken into. Went to the police station in Buitekant street to report the case for insurance purposes and it turned out that in the time we spent at the polce station 7 more people came in to report that their cars were broken into.

Lesson learnt the hard way, next time i will rather bring someone with to drop us off.
