  1. Also only received great service from Matthew and Easybike.
  2. Some entries up for grabs from Food Lover's Market. http://lovethebike.com/
  3. My wife and I have been riding for 2 years now. 3 months ago, we upgraded her bike from a small 26er hardtail to a Giant Anthem XW dual suspension 29er. She is only 1,6m tall. The difference the bigger wheels have made has been incredible. She tackles the technical downhills and rocky uphills with far more confidence than before. I am a huge Van Gaalens fan but she used to hate that place due to all the walking she did. 2 weeks ago she was able to ride the whole of the concrete road, pofadder, oom piet and greek church. The 29er wheels has taken her level of enjoyment to a whole new level.
  4. Learnt my lesson on the golf course a few years ago. Now apply tabard whenever I play golf or go riding.
  5. Wife and I been going to VA Sunninghill for past 3 months. Improvement on the bike has been huge for both of us.
  6. I clearly have some catching up to do for our w2w bet! I averaged 270. Keep Trav away from the beers and his performance will go down!
  7. Doing the race with my wife and my colleagues from Food Lover's Market. First W2W for both of us.
  8. I am very interested to know how you accessed half that route. I often ride around that area but there are alot of closed gates and some harshly worded "no access/private property" signs.
  9. I really enjoyed this race. Pace was fast in the beginning and I paid for it in the end. The other great thing about the race was being able to cycle to the start line from my place in Sunninghill.
  10. After only 8 months of mountain biking and no form of fitness training before; I did the 45km in 3:30, and had an absolute blast. It is all rideable apart from the bottlenecks and when riders walk side by side up the hill; forcing you to break and walk. The last 20 odd km's was unbelievable. Can't wait to do the full monster next year.
  11. Apologies for advertising. My wife came down with a nasty cold yesterday and didn't feel any better this morning. She is going to decide this afternoon whether she will make the race. If she can't, there will be a 45km entry available at no cost other costs to substitute if that is possible.
  12. I have a Titan carbon pro XL frame with seatpost and handlebars that I am looking to get rid of. SS build would be great but don't have the space. Let me know if interested.

    Babbas MTB races

Wife and I did it in March as our first race. Managed the 63km (2 loops around the farm) quite comfortably as it is very flat. 1 or 2 climbs at the end but not big at all.
  14. My wife and I took up mountain biking last year June. Started her off with a Scott Aspect 610 (26) and 10 months into it and a couple races under the belt, the bug has bitten and she is planning on getting a dual suspension 27.5 before wines2whales. She is naturally fit so riding came easy to her. My suggestion would be to get a 27.5" for your missus based on my experience. That said, any takers for a small Aspect 610?
  15. I tried to teach my wife to hop onto the pavement. That lesson ended with stitches in her knee. So thanks for this post. Peaches services will come in handy.
  16. The top tube of my Titan Carbon Pro developed a crack. Agent insisted it was from the handlebar swinging around. 2 different bike shops agreed it was definitely not the case and was consist with a manufacturing fault. In the end had to rely on my own insurance to buy a new frame. And it isn't a Titan.
  17. It didn't look like they were at all attacking Cyclelab for anything. They were filming inside the store amongst the bikes. I got the feeling Cyclelab might have been the victim/possible victim of some scamsters.
  18. Was at Cyclelab Fourways yesterday and Devie from Carte Blanche was there with a camera crew. Heard her mention the words and definitions of a "fake" and "grey import". Seems they have latched onto this.
  19. Only bio I know is a guy by the name of Dale Ebel. He works out of Greenstone and also at Serengeti Golf Estate.
  20. Anyone have any insight on the Sintesi 301 29er? Planning on buying the frame from Evobikes but don't know much about the brand.
  21. There is a route called the Toeka loop. Head out of Clarens on the R712 back towards Bethlehem. Turn right on to a sand road labelled the S205 follow this road and the "Toeka" signs and you end up doing a 45km loop if you start in the town. Can also head out of Clarens towards Fouriesburg and there are a number of dirt roads along the way to explore. Rebelie game farm on the way towards Golden Gate has a 4x4 track that they allow day visitors to ride. I think it was R40.
