  1. Have been using Finish Line Green Wet Chain Lube for years...works a treat, zero issues.
  2. Milky - if you are looking for skills vids, head over to YouTube and search for vids done by Fabien Barel - dudes a legend and knows his stuff! Teaches me something new every time I watch them!
  3. @kellyslater: depends on what the mandate of the current EMP is, not sure it allows for new trails to be built....but existing ones can be maintained. This is obviously trying to be addressed in the EMP revision currently happening, but it takes time...to much time it seems. However red tape has its own calendar. Sad to see the snake trails go, they have been the staple of Tokia for years. Also frustrating to see that the owners of the trees are not prepared to fell in a way that can "somewhat" retain the basic trails layout and allow for a quicker rebuild. On the flip side, imagine the possibilities for the new trails that are being planned! Yes they will take more sculpting and planning to reduce the wear and tear leading to sandy soil of the area....bu it could lead to some special creations in the future. So maybe when PoS calls on us to build, we need to collect out gloves, shovels and spirits and go plow back into Tokia trails - make it 'whole' again!!!
  4. Apologies, the bike is a KONA KING KIKAPU. Also a picture, slightly dated vs the spec above....
  5. A mate has just had all his professional Nikon camera equipment stolen this morning, as well as his mountain bike...not sure which he is more broken up about: Bike specs: Kona KingKapu - red front triangle and cream rear Fox RP2 or RP3 rear shock Marzocchi XC600 Marathon fork (black and red with gold stanchions) Easton finishing kit with different brand short 70mm stem and wide 710mm bars Sun Ringle rims on shimano hubs (with a piece of knitting wool round each hub to keep them clean) WTB tires - 'Stout' front and 'Prowler SS' rear - these tires are not available in SA Brand new drive set - 3 blade SLX cranks with 170mm arms, XT Cassette an new chain XT derailers and Hayes Brakes I will try get him to post a picture as well as serial numbers. Will be trailing slumtree, cash crusaders and the like as well, but if you see something please let us know! Shot Moretrails
  6. Yes its been done - makes a bike with lower center of gravity that utilizes the 29er long wheel base for a more stable ride. Been a couple mods of this one of the overseas magazine websites. Not great for something like a Santa Cruz with a lower pivot link - will be smashed to bits on rocks.
  7. DUDE, Now you talking. This helmet is on the "want to have to have need it" list! I don't think my Giro Hex is going to come close to a POC. Without a doubt my next helmet - bugger the price!!!
  8. Been riding Charge spoon saddles for a while - own three of them! They are they most comfortable saddle I have ever owned, and the only cost 25 quid each!!! Bargain Order one, you will not be sorry!
  9. Thats probably Tobie from Hello Again - dude does build some cool bikes. Otherwise follow iRide's advice and check out Nilse at Woodstock Cycleworks on Main Road
  10. Matt Pearl White one of those rolling around Cape Town....wiff the carbon trim. A work of art I tell you!
  11. So you thinking of going as a Ninja Turtle eh?
  12. 456 Summer Season is a kick ass bike, makes some of my mates full sus rides look silly. And the ride is pretty good too, being steel it is comfy and doesn't rattle your teeth out like a alu bike. The 456 Ti....mmmm now there is a bike I would dig to get my gloves on! All the bikes you mentioned have some what of a cult following in their owners...so you not going to get any unbiased answers. Although, any of those bikes is going to be AWESOME!!!
  13. Trance is more of a trail bike, so its all about getting to the top so you can actually come down. Hitting the rocks will be cause you are new to a full sus and it takes a couple runs to get used to the bb height dropping. Now changing cranks for a trail bike is not a bad idea...175mm cranks are so called standard and give good pedal efficiency, but one does tend to clip them on stuff. Changing to a 170mm crank will make a world of difference but will not be the "be all and end all" to the problem. 5mm, I know, unbelievable. But it works.... Changing to 165mm cranks will be great for going down but murder going up...yes it makes that much difference. You can't generate as much leverage on the pedal stroke and pedaling will become uncomfortable on the ups or when you need to put in big effort. My 2c...
  14. Hairy, slap some more pictures up of the bike....you can't just put 2 up!!!
  15. For that kind of cash, don't stuff around with a factory set. Build some wheels and never look back!!! Hope hubs Mavic / Stans rims DT Swiss spokes Happy rider....
  16. Aim for a medium cage, less chain slap, tighter chain quieter bike
  17. "Truth", corner of Somerset and Buitengracht.... (((((BOOOOM)))))
  18. Nice, hope you as fast as she looks..... Hahahaha Hear hear, bring on the weekend baby!!!
  19. Vote with you feet and bank accounts people - if it was that bad, don't go back. I did that years ago and have been happily riding the Argus ever since... Die Burger is simply a dangerous ride - open roads to traffic, wrong time of year & weather (either wind or heat or both) and apparently not enough liquid infrastructure. For an "endurance" event that is a major item to get wrong.
  20. What flavour you getting G-Spot?
  21. My RP23 has made that noise since day dot - also on a Shova. Brand new out the box it made that noise. Its been serviced and completely rebuilt twice with new seals and nitrogen regas....still squeaks. No damage done and serviced by the agent. Then again, they had to do it twice cause they got the nitrogen pressure all wrong due to there equipment having the wrong calibration - read being old and tired and worn out. Shova should only really need propedal on when climbing, otherwise ride it open....wide open! Braaaaaap
  22. Deon Can you indicate the positions of the trails more or less - I don't know the horse trails in Tokia. Would be good to make sure, don't want to blinded by beautiful loamy single track and then blinded by a swift hoof to the helmut a moment later... Shot!
  23. Its a fail safe feature - did the same to mine (twice) and landed up speaking to Andre about it at the time. Reposition the piston into the body whence it came. Then grab brake and squeeze like you would under normal use and it will pop back into place, job done!
  24. Not so Drongo, if you go anywhere in Die Kaap it is up first. 32x 11x32 or 11x34 is just fine round these parts. Biggest I would go around these parts is a 34T up front, maybe I'm a woes... As for chain device, if you got the tom then check out C-Sixx chain guides. They are also bringing out an XC seat tube mounted guy next year...slick! Otherwise MRP 1x guide or E-Thirteen XCX for guide only and no roller. I think Rock Star components do a cheap one also. 1x10, I would look at 34T 11x36t
