  1. Bos: so get off your butt and lets make a plan one day! mornings in the week work well for me
  2. there is near majik forest another 40km of singletrack on nitida, hillcreast contermanskloof and meerendal! it puts almost any other area to shame! nice vid...super camera quality
  3. seriously!! that is hilarious!! I would have thrown her and her bike as far as I could down the mountain. She is totally at fault !! what is with the downhill padding for a little jaunt through the forest?
  4. shave your legs and ride faster - I never get the buggers and ride Meerendal or Majik every day
  5. on Shimano the derailleur for 10 speed is the same as the 9 speed, it's the shifters are different. I am not sure on SRAM though...
  6. niiiiice! I have the blue on e with same wheels and an XT build. Where did you get the x0 stuff from, I really want the double chainring setup
  7. hmm OK will try that one....I did notice some discoloration last time, will give that a bash. thanks!
  8. great...so I must live with the noise?
  9. as far as I understand you can fit some road tyres onto a 29er rim...the only issue is rim width diameter is the same...depending on how strong you are gearing might not be an issue. Only outlay is a set of tyres.
  10. no-one??
  11. OK so my rear hub creaks when I am on the gas on a climb. The sound is a clicking noise not dissimilar to the sound a poorly adjusted rear dérailleur makes with the chain rubbing the sprocket. I have dissembled an reassembled the hub and the sound disappears for a short while but halfway through the next ride it is back. The bearings seem fairly smooth, no rumbling or grinding....any help?
  12. it really is pretty easy. work cleanly and carefully and it really is pretty lower grade
  13. get a nice heavy gear oil...works fine. I have a castrol one...cost like R35 or so for 500ml
  14. OK DMD you're wife really pulled one out of the hat this time!! That is the best gift ever! Hopefully I will see you on it soon!
  15. I just tell my wife that I could be riding some 20 year old bimbo with big boobs instead of my bike...she's happy with that
  16. I have the AC's and ride pretty hard and so far - no issues!
  17. I cant see that it would be. Steel is real those bikes are really strong. A top tube would fail in a crumple as it is under compressive stress. The dent would have to be pretty deep and pretty large to really make any serious affect on the strength.
  18. sure it will be fine. I think you have two options: leave it or fix it by filling with body filler, sand smooth and repaint, I'd not do anything more than that and you'll never know it was there.
  19. from what I have heard and seen, Maxxis tyres seem to be the worst and mostly with Stans/Joes. interesting I happen to have a bottle of both stans and joes and the joes has a MUCH more pronounced ammonia smell.
  20. fyi info from my mates at BMW is that they use a US product called ride-on
  21. wow! nice. Does the process use some sort of a follower that patterns off the ring? or did they CAD it up first?
  22. shot - good work...how did you machine those puppies, you'd need a mill with a dividing head I would think?
  23. I still have some that I got from rad...using non ust tyres and also need something more fluid...so I intend to mix stans and OKO together. OKO has loads of fibrous material in it so it seals bigger holes bigger, but you need hte fluidity of stans to get around the tire. for example I had a small nick in the sidewall yesterday that OKO would not have sealed - the stans I have in the was very fluid and so I stopped and got the nick to the bottom and voila. that being said you will find more opinions than there are products - everyone has a favorite. In the words of Malcolm Gladwell - there is no perfect product on perfect products....everyone has their own preferences.
  24. nope you can as far as I know...I have a mate and his wife that work for beemer and they don't seem to know anything about it...will check again tho
  25. I ride alone almost all the time...however the day I fell and broke my femur was not a highlight of the idea...managed to ride the 2km downhill to where a mate came to pick me up...thank goodness for cell phones!
