  1. Thanks. Gonna give these a go. Mainly for XC and light trail...
  2. thanks for the heads up! Sorry which one then....
  3. Just ordered a set of tyres from here: https://www.cyclesharp.co.za/product-category/mens/mitas-mens/ They have both 650B and 29er in stock! Quickest online chat & service ever!!
  4. Ideas an where to purchase these tyres in JHB?
  5. We went through around 8:30 to 9am. Nothing at that stage! Hope he/she is ok!
  6. Bud, take your B hairs out of your chain sprocket. Yes, exactly what I'm saying. I guess when a shop has a sale, you ETHICALLY refuse to buy because you ripping them off?? Without emotive drive everyone would be riding the same cheap bike. Economics is not the only reason people buy on the Hub... No remorse here. I landed up with a better buy from a willing seller... There is always another bargain around the corner I would say that we are dragging this ONE event out longer than necessary. Time for another cup of coffee
  7. If a seller has decided what price he wants to sell and there is a willing buyer, there is no rip off...Was this bike worth R23k. Probably. Is it worth R32k for 2011 model. Well lets see if it sells...I bet on NO CHANCE. Sorry say what you will. I still think its all in bad taste. But nothing illegal or evil. We all make up our own minds where to buy and what we prepared to pay. There is a bit more than pure economics...Being comfortable with a buyer or seller is part of the buying process. If there is zero trust between the buyer and seller, chances are there won't be a transaction.
  8. Sadly you are 100% correct... But for a strange reason, I feel the Hub is a place where most people are as passionate about riding and equipment as I am. I prefer to buy and sell in this type of communal environment instead of Gumtree. Yes probably Idealist, but why else trade here? We are all looking for that bargain or perfect bike to "take" us to the next level (thanks to marketing hype mainly...). It just does not sit well with me when I see an attempt of blatant excessive profit gain on the same community you purchased the item. I can't see how this improves the community of the hub in any way. Or are the classifieds just an extension of the Junkmail, nothing more...
  9. But everyone has an opinion. So this is what is being expressed here. No one said anything about right or wrong...
  10. Just bad form! Perhaps BikeMarket bought the bike..you might get a second chance
  11. It would not surprise me! There is a few bikes I've followed and noticed the price jump as soon as you see the same bike advertised behind that brick wall... Me, I've decided NEVER to buy or sell with them, just out of principle. Just my opinion! I have no problem someone making a bit of cash because they were quick enough to spot a bargain. But don't rip a new ring out of it...no one will pay that price and you probably deprived some honest hubber from owning a dream bike.
  12. Yip perhaps just bad luck.
  13. Can you believe, a 29er 130mm fork! I was also surprised how well it look with 650B. I didn't experience a huge geometry change with the different wheels either...
  14. I don't know these tyres. Came with the wheels... On my first ride I managed to burp the tyre at 1.7bar and cut the side wall. Not sure if it's the hoops or the tyre. Managed to plug the cut (lucky) and get back. The good grip on the rear could be thanks to this tyre as well? I found the front gave way with out warning on the loose pack and mud... What is your experience with these tyres?
  15. Remember this is on a SMALL OneTen frame!
  16. So, a bit of feedback on my first Pyga ride on Saturday...Probably old hat to the Pyga owners. But also some info on the OneTen with 650B wheels. I spent 3 hrs riding Big Red Barn. Half of the time with 650B wheels and the 2nd half with 29er wheels. I'm a 29er fan so this is not a "which is better" comment. We did a lot of the black diamond newer section on the 650B wheels. Thankfully the rain has settled the fresh ground. The Pyga really does climb VERY well and it is the first time I've actually managed to ride 98% of the section without putting my feet down! I blame my buddy in front of me stopping on a steep climb for the 2% . Grip on the rear wheel was superb! With the 650B I was able to turn easier and manage the tight climbing turns with more confidence and balance. This is no new revelation really and written a million times before. I think the lower center of gravity with slower sections favour smaller wheels. But I really enjoyed the smaller wheels dare I say!!! A big fun factor! Changing to 29re wheels, I struggled on the first few corners and it took me a few kms to get into a rhythm. I then realized that the 29er wheels where caring a lot more speed into the corners! Yip 29ers do roll much faster. I lost the accuracy of the 650B but gained effortless speed on the bigger wheels. Anyway...enough of the wheels. I have to say the Pyga is really a pleasure to ride. Hardly any adjustment to riding the bike. It just felt natural. So happy that it climbs well. My concerns of carrying the extra weight of the Alu frame was unfounded. At 12.4kg, I"m not disappointed. Today it goes to the Trailhead for an overhaul on bearings, pivots and shocks. Hoping to play again on the weekend. Happy Pyga owner
  17. Interestingly, I will receive the bike with both 650B and 29er wheels. They owner used the 650B wheels for the small wife...should be an interesting comparison. Pretty sure I'll use it with 29er wheels. Anyone tried a OneTen as a 27.5 setup?
  18. Looks like it is one of the few small frames they made in the Oneten. Hoping the fit is good.
  19. Ok, so I bit the bullet and purchased a 2nd hand Pyga 110 . Hoping to get the bike tomorrow... So I emailed Pyga this morning asking for price and availability for a complete pivot bearing kit and Alloy bolt kit (I prefer to know it's all new and good at the back before I ride...) Before 3pm today, the parts are on their way via courier. Well done Pyga! Excellent service!!!! I'm hoping the bike rides as quick as their service!
  20. 72km/h on the longer downhill straights Think I hit the "grass" over the bars at 45km/h. What a clown! Very lucky that day. Too busy watching my mate taking the corners and forgot go wide and swing in...Skinny tyres and braking in the corner is a BIG NO NO.
  21. The 2nd corner after the drop. Video is challenging for me to upload It kinda went like this after my back wheel started to slide...
  22. Every time I watch it, it gives me the shivers...my bum bites the seat now when I take that corner. SBR demands respect in many ways
  23. Sorry to hear about the accident...I'm glad he's ok, but not nice to end the ride that way. I came off the 2nd corner on that downhill and decided to take my chances at 40km/hr over the bars into the bushes. I was very fortunate to get away with a few scratches and a burst tyre. Took us a while to find the camera I knocked off the bars... Need to be very careful there! But so much fun at speed!
  24. Any longer term comments on the Lyne Dropper posts? I've had mine since July this year. Still working great. Starting to feel a bit of play on the seat now...guess this is normal.
