  1. I long shot here...could the limit screw loosen during your ride? Sorry, read the problem incorrectly...Move along, nothing to see here....
  2. Did a ride at Modders on Wednesday. I can see they are slowly getting through the grass cutting on the trail, but there is still PLENTY to do. - Riding through the reeds is like running a gauntlet through The Gladiators tunnel! Not fun! - The River section needs maintenance - Something did smell like it died on one of the climbs. Hope that's not the case! Really enjoy riding here! So much potential to be the best park ride in JHB! Just need some organisation to listen to riders and take action. Let's hope the new guys on the block share our passion...
  3. A bit late for this post... I good friend and he's buddies in the Basque country dress up every year for the KINGS Day. The Idea is that the kids ONLY have a short gimps of the KINGS as they exit the large Barn....(as per the 2nd pic) So they wait at the end of the barn, and the kids are let in on the other side. As the kids rush in, the KINGS disappear through the Barn doors, then walk past the windows...with the kids amazed and delighted... Think the parents have just as much fun with this as the kids do!
  4. Park open until 9pm (I think). Normally a few people riding at night. Yes, you will need a light at night! You can ride Green / Yellow or Red. The Red is around 40km and should take about 2h30 to 3hrs.
  5. Road Rage - taking the Mickey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fIvnHa1zNQ
  6. I think the phrase "excessive force" applies to this incident. Even if the cyclist is a total prat!
  7. It's the "HUB Humor" that keeps me reading the treads, not education
  8. Wonder how the local law dealt with is incident?
  9. Ok, not a picture, but an amazing piece of cycling art I physically saw in a private residence in the Basque country in Spain. I stood for hrs staring at this masterpiece. I love the way this artist invokes "motion and struggle" within a peloton. I'm no art guru, but this painting gripped my attention like no other Hence the pic on my profile. Wanted to share this masterpiece with other passionate cyclist... Artist is Nori Ushijima
  10. Find a short climbing section with a few obstacles, ruts or loose gravel to clear and practice with a mate. From repetition and observation from your competitive buddy, your natural body movement will soon learn what needs to happen to get over the climb. Sitting in the same position will render the same result without increased momentum. If you're not moving forward and back to compensate terrain changes, you will limit your ability to clear more difficult obstacles and climbs...
  11. Did the 40km red route yesterday (just before the rain) . Thankfully, a great deal of the grass has been cut back, not all. Trails are looking good!
  12. Yes, definitely overgrown and in need of trimming. Still enjoying the ride there! Hoping it's just Jan and the rain...perhaps someone can elaborate.
  13. If you purchase a smart trainer like a Cycleops that runs off the tyre, in other words, a non-direct trainer, the cassette gearing will NOT matter... like this: https://www.bicyclepower.co.za/product/m2-smart-trainer/
  14. I found something on Garmin Connect: I reinstalled Garmin Connect on my Samsung 9 and paired the Garmin 820. I setup the email notifications. When you start Live track, you still need to select email as a notification again. When I did this, it seemed to work.
  15. Great video. I need to make a plan and do a ride!
  16. I have a Garmin 820 and Samsung 9. Live track worked perfect a few months ago, then stopped. Live track sends an email, but only shows the large map of Africa, without zooming in on my location and ride. Tried reinstalling Garmin connect 3 times. phone connects with Garmin on bluetooth. Not sure what the issue is...
  17. I've sent emails, complained...just get an apology and a gift voucher...for the suffering cycle to start again...
  18. Yip, tried the last 2 or 3 rides...can't get Live Track on Garmin Connect to work anymore...Not sure what has changed. Tried all the setting I can.
  19. I find I'm 15 - 20 min slower on my Steel MTB (2x10) vs Road bike around SBR. Did the double a while ago on the MTB for Ass comfort reasons... Gearing on the MTB is actually easier for the hills! Heavier weight of the MTB, a disadvantage going up! Where you lose time is on the fast downs and flats where you run out of gearing.
  20. Been at least 3 months since the plate removal. There is noticeable lack of size and strength on the operated shoulder. Man, the joint is SUPER noisy. Hope this is just things trying to find their place. Slight pain after 2 or 3 hr rides, but nothing serious. Anyone else notice join noise, especially during standard push-ups when you can hear the join moving?
  21. I saw a guy with a small wheeled MTB in the back of he's car being turned away 3 weeks ago. I asked the security and he said the chap didn't know he had to pay. He was just told to come ride SBR... I thought it was because it was not a 29er
