  1. I would like a coach : 1. Who will look at my ridiculous running and teach me how to run properly and ultimately quicker. 2. Who will analyse my cycling and help me get faster and more economical. 3. Who will watch me swim and help me become an efficient swimmer. 4. Who will make meaningful improvements to my nutrition 5. Who will make meaningful improvements to race day technique 6. Who will motivate and inspire my training and performance 7. Who lives in Johannesburg I do not want someone to give me a program that I can work out for myself or download off the internet. There is a free program in every Tri mag every month. Cut and Paste does not make you a coach. You cannot be a coach over the internet. Brett Sutton is a bit expensive and he lives in Mexico. Anyone else?
  2. Umm, that is a bit of oversell. Yes it is very efficiently organised but... Swim course sucks. Well it is a wade, not a swim. Cycle course is dangerous with vehicles on the course. Going down hills at 70kmh with mountain bikes wobbling up the hill with no separation is not fun. Run is quite nice. You sit around in the heat for hours waiting for your start. Your bottles are at coffee temperature by the time you get on your bike. The shirt and the medal are great. For a novice, it is a good race to start. But 'Ironman experience' is a stretch.
  3. Pornstar sells Adamo in CT. The same concept as the Adamo is the Fizik TriTone and also Cobb have a range which is now available in SA I believe. John Cobb is the saddle guru.
  4. I would imagine the signal would be encrypted, so you couldn't change the gears but you could stop changes happening by jamming the signal.
  5. The website does not seem to allow you to choose seatpost diameter and length.
  6. I have visions of someone sitting on the side of the road up Alpe d'Huez with a jammer. Wireless is a risk in competitive racing.
  7. Conventional wisdom says running training aids cycling but not vice versa. I guess it differs from person to person. Remember that running off the bike is different to a normal run as certain muscles are tired and tight. Brick runs (running directly after a cycle) are an essential part of training to combat this. There is so much info on the webs, would highly suggest you make it part of your program to understand the process of training by investing time in reading the many articles.
  8. Nice bike, congrats. You have a lot of spacers in there. Setup still coming?
  9. Dude, train less. So you will be five minutes slower, but think of the upside. Supporters need to be happy as well.
  10. My wife and I loved watching the (short) nightly broadcast. Became a highlight of our evenings looking forward to it. She is new to cycling and wants to do it...a long way away still, for me too. Think I heard her singing that theme song "You got power" on the back of the tandem on Wednesday. Good times.
  11. Buy the Traithlon Plus mag. There is always a program in the back of that. Just Google it as well, there are a hundred available on the net. Obviously find one that matches your ability and goals. Remember that the most important part of training is recovery, so don't go over the top to start with.
  12. Garfield will look Pretty in Pink! They may even let you start in the last wave.
  13. Zoot?
  14. They do allow MTBs so no reason why your SS will not be allowed. The climbing is no more than what you will do in the Cradle. Look at the thread from last year's race, lots of feedback there. Not a fan of this race.
  15. Watched from the side lines and think this race has a lot to offer. Saw quite a few unhappy people because they did not know what to do. The race organisers left a lot of stuff to the last minute. Given that probably a large number of newbies to triathlon, this was not good. Was at transition exit when the first AGers were coming back from the ride with others still going out. Inadequate instruction to the marshalls meant that the two streams of cyclists were crossing over each other. Some very scary moments with some near miss head ons. Fortunately sense prevailed quite quickly and the flows were worked out. Was very cool to see the elite ladies up so close. Some of them are tiny. Watching the race later on TV was even more spectacular. Certainly came across brilliantly on screen. Magnificent advert for CT. I believe it is a seven year hosting deal so they will get a chance to iron out the bugs before next year. Now I have a year to pluck up the courage to swim in that water. Eish.
  16. Saw on Tweetybird that due to the current water temperature, the swim is wetsuit compulsory for the Standard Distance. Optional for the Sprint.
  17. IMSA - Port Elizabeth - 29th March 2015
  18. I will be having that beer while you are racing. Will go run the course on Weds or Thurs night. Down there from tomorrow.
  19. Yup, you and I can find it but does every athlete have to go hunting. Even on the ITU site, it is not obvious. There actually is no confirmation that these are the rules that apply. What amendaments to these rules are in place. eg MTBs are allowed but will contravene the bike width limitation. I asked a whole lot of questions on the FB page and have got answers that differ from the ITU site. There are some serious athletes participating in a World Series event, you can't not have official rules. They are treating it like it is a fun ride. Anyway, was going to pack up my bike and enter today but think am just going to come watch the elites.
  20. Stunning that there is no link to the rules on the race website.
  21. Given the lack of available info on this race, I have lost enthusiasm for it. Will be there but as a spectator. I hope the race is better organised than the website which really is a triumph of form over function. Posted a whole lot of questions on the Facebook page and got a one line answer.

    Booted DSTV

For all the content you get, DSTV is not badly priced. But it is still is a lot of money. Who has time to watch all the content? My strategy, turn it on and off as needed. Was on for Epic. Will turn off at the end of the month. Back on for July for TDF then off again. Also fill the PVR with stuff you would like to watch and don't have time. Before you terminate, remove the dish antenna. That way the Smart card does not get turned off and you can watch the PVR for as long as you like.
  23. Hope is not a Strategy. To go unprepared out into the wild blue yonder without being prepared is irresponsible and making your problems someone else's. Get the gear. know how to use it and if you are stuck ASK for help. There are very few who would not stop if asked. If you know someone who does goes out unprepared please educate them with some tough love. It probably will save them some serious unhappiness.
  24. I concede that Garfield completely got the better of me on the day. No excuses. But we will duel again...
  25. Please post as soon as you get a response. I can only bring one bike down. Using a road bike in a non drafting event is pointless.
