  1. What a thread! Some really nice knives. I have a nice little collection I need to photograph some time. Love my benchmades, zero tolerance, good old kershaws, and some custom made stuff. I carry a benchmade daily. I love limited edition knives, first production, and specifically look for nice numbers like 500 or 1000 etc. Looks like I'm going to have to add an opinel to my collection too!
  2. I Wouldn't go 30t. Within a month you'll be buying bigger... I train with a 36t, and race on either 36, 34,or 32. Depending on how much climbing there is. Basically, it's not about needing lighter gears, but more about being able to rest / recover if you want to.
  3. Mixing the butter and the coconut oil is genius! I've been trying to find a more efficient way to make my bulletproof in the morning. Thanks for the idea!
  4. That mct oil makes me burn hot! I can definitely feel the difference. How have you found it compared to coconut oil?
  5. Bright red flashing lights save your life. My new Knog will make SURE you see me from behind.
  6. So I obviously rushed off to dischem and bought some, along with one of those little milk frothing machines for work. It makes very good bulletproof coffee (I just need to get some butter). Thanks tombeej
  7. Dischem online shopping here I come!
  8. Anything latex free.... Could use one of the water based ones like OKO.
  9. Wait, something isn't right. I think those are net grams or something. They are from an app I use to track eating. Works out at about 3000 kcal per day...
  10. I'm still hungry all the time. I keep carbs below 70g a day, mostly below that. Fat is always at or over 200g per day, and protein around 100g per day. I am doing a lot of riding though. Like 2hrs a day. Question is, more fat? More carbs? Noakes says up to 150-200g per day if training hard?
  11. By that theory, if you never remove your tyre, and keep topping it up, you'll eventually tend towards have a very high concentration of nitrogen in your wheels anyway. ????
  12. Dischem had some......
  13. Very clever. Going to Teasers, and then slashing your glitter filled tyres to cover it up.
  14. There was a thread like this not too long ago, including pictures. Apparently motocross (Or it could have been ENDURO motor bikes) have smaller rear wheels?
  15. Getting warmer up here in Gauteng too. Even when I start early (5am), it's already warm enough for a simple base layer or jacket. Definitely not both. Which also means it will start to rain soon. :-)
  16. That sounds delicious. Let's get a few more recipes shared for today shall we?
  17. Enjoy your Sylvia. She's a great machine. Let the modding begin! Have a look at a PID to help you regulate the temperature in future.
  18. I used to suffer heavily from cramping. I tried all sorts of supplements, but none of them worked for me. What eventually worked was longer and harder training rides. All the research I did pointed at fatigue being a big factor for cramping, although there is plenty of "we don't really know why it happens" out there.
  19. Seems to deploy even for a simple fall, like falling over because you couldn't clip out. MTB sees possibly multiple little falls in a single outing. I do see how for road or commuting it could work nicely.
  20. Something like a Macap M4 stepless and doserless. Mazzer make some top quality grinders too. The rocky is pretty solid, but I find it clumps too much.
  21. I have the Sylvia, and I love it. Just my opinion, but you probably want a better Grinder.... They say spend about double on the Grinder that you spend on the machine... Obviously, that's just to prove the point.... The budget always dictates. I bought a rancilio rocky, but I wish a had bought something slightly better.
  22. For those on carbs for race day, this was recommended to me by someone who's opinion I really trust. Apparently the pepto pro is a product that dramatically increases the body's ability to replenish glycogen stores in the muscles. Good for during high intensity races! I'm no expert, but what I'm told is that we can normally only absorb carbohydrate concentrations of 5g per 100, but pepto pro increases that to just over 20.... Or something. http://www.atlife.co.za/content/products_peptosport_powerberry_tub.html I'm not linked to this product in any way, but I thought I'd get some hubpinions!
  23. Actually, and stupidly, I never thought about trying to keep it warm... I'm not sure I'd like it cold. Sounds like honey and espresso is the answer.
  24. I was thinking about that initially, but I've been using bulletproof coffee as part of my pre long ride breakfast for a while and really like it... I thought the MCT's would also help on the bike for multi stage races? I'm undecided on the carbs for stage racing at the moment.
  25. Has anyone tried to take Bulletproof coffee out on a ride? I'm keen to see if it separated out again after a while (which wouldn't be great). I have a high caffeine dependance that I need to feed on the bike. When I was a carb head, I used to smash the Gels with Caffeine in them... Now I'm thinking bulletproof coffee with added honey for the bike... MCT, Carbs, Caffeine. Yum.
