I have the same bike. I have upgraded the wheels to Arch Ex, and added a dropper. Also changed to 1x10. My order of upgrade benefits is: 1. Dropper 2. 1x10 (I just love it, but don't have a good reason...) 3. Wheels. The OEM giant wheels are good enough. It the only upgrade I feel that I could have spent the money better...

If you rode with a Garmin, send them the GPX file. Maybe you get lucky.

Right. I may be brave enough to talk about it now. 5:26 from F batch. I rode with a mate who had such bad tyre technicals. I couldn't leave him stranded. 3 plugs, 3 bombs, 2 tubes, and a limp home pumping every 5km for the last 15 (he eventually joined the HD marathon route). Apart from that, I cramped from 23km. It was hectic. I have such respect for that trail. The only way to prepare for Hakahana is to ride Hakahana. I'll be back. To the guy on the silver pyga oneten, I am so jealous. He treated those downhills like flats. Awesome to see. Only complaint was the last bit in Girotec. Mainly because I had already been out for so long and it was soul destroying watching the riders snake back and forth in front of me. Thanks to all involved, I had a great time.

I've just done a new maxxis combo (crossmarks and ardents) on my bike with OKO. Can only comment on the installation, which was hand pump only, and holding air perfectly. Thus was on arch ex rims. Previously had spez tyres with Stans, and found the dreaded solid ball and watery sealant in the old after only 4 months.. .

Do the marathon I say. There are 3 big climbs. If you have to walk some of that, then so be it. The rest will be worth it! Many will walk those sections.....

Challenge them. They always try bully tactics as a first response to pay less. Tell them you plan to go to the ombudsman, and then follow through if they don't budge. Also, did the pr#ck ever admit to being at fault?
