One wedding done, two to go. I dragged your saddle bag along the stretch through Meirings Poort , de Rust and over the pass to PA on the second day of my tour in December. I am having trouble walking up the stairs today, so regrettably NO riding.

I am in Oudtshoorn having driven down from Johannesburg to ride. I have just been told by the doctor that I have a choice. Either I see my Daughters again or I start the race. Apparently I will finish myself off before I finish the race. I picked up a sore throat on Monday and by yesterday I started coughing up green phlegm. Oh well. At least I can start drinking today. It works well with the cough muti I have been swigging.

My burning throat morphed into a hacking cough which has now settled into my lungs producing an interesting shade of Chartreuse phlegm. Swartberg 100 on Saturday?

My payment has gone through but I have not recieved any confirmation of entry. Has anyone else ?

Rich All of it is on public roads and are open to ride at all times. I did the first part last year and the second half in December as part of a longer tour.

Is there anybody that wants to do a training ride around SBR or at Breedts in the next week or two ?

I did the exact route from De Rust to PA via Oude Muragie in December. From where you hit the tar road to the top of the pass is almost exactly 30km and all of it is uphill.

As a matter of interest, does anybody know what the is gradient on Suikerbossie or the first climb on Suikerbosrand ?

For it to hurt less they will need to grade about 1000m off the top. You are a brave man to tackle it on 53/39
