My race went pretty well for the first 10km. Then some guy in front of me osvershot the turn and braked and swerved right in front of me. When all the sh.it and dust had settled my right shoulder was dislocated and my whole right side was full of bruises. The guy did'nt even know I went down. Now, as for MTB'ers being a caring bunch - **** that!! Only one guy from all the 80km stopped and tried to help me get up. Thank you, whoever you were. To the rest - ****you very much! Luckily this happened about 200m from the first KFC waterpoint and those guys were wonderful and supportive till the medic could come and give me some morphine. After the morphine kicked in I wanted to ride the course backwards on one wheel... I'm now bookd off for a week...

spartikus - sadly not!!! As for the bike - I think you should be safe with SLX or X-7 and X-9. The important thing is the suspension and I would rather spend a few bucks extra and get decent shocks. Disc Brakes goes without saying. Same for good tubeless tyres.
