  1. Which bike should I bring - 26" ds or 29" ht? Doing the 75km...
  2. Mmmm... I have the 725 Polar for well over 4 years now and not a single problem. It gets used every day.
  3. Took them three weeks to deliver my XTR groupset and when they did, it had XT brake calipers! Another two weeks to fix that...
  4. Do it yourself and save yourself some trouble.
  5. I-Fly - I saw Dan at the 1st CP with his bike, having a beer! I thin I passed Adele at some stage - she looked like Pippy Longstocking from the back with her ponytails! If I am correct you rode stage three? By that time the wind had died down somewhat. Going down the pass, I could only manage 76km/h due to the headwind. My total ascent for the race was 2310m or something. If you consider that Windhoek is only 1800m above sealevel, it means the race was uphill! The vehicles left stage 4 after 10km and the changes in the route meant we did not have so much dust in stages 4,5 and 6. Also, the block headwind/side wind also took the dust away quicker, compared to last year's comparitively windless stages where the dust would just hang in the air. The pipe-line was an absolute shocker, especially if you have already got 280km in your legs! How about the solo next year?
  6. Well, she can roll something else with her thighs...
  7. Caad4, I am, and don't call me shirley! Got it cheap-cheap! It's one of those frames that's made in the sam factory as other well-known brands - as per one of the previous threads. Will see how it goesd...
  8. Is this black enough? Should be completed today...

  14. Wow really? Millions hey?
  15. Dankie Ecc1!
  16. OK, so after last year's disaster, it's time again for the 340km schlep through the desert. My base fitness is reasonable and I'm doing 10 to 15 hours a week. I still feel there is room for improvement as I want to finish the race in the 17 to 19 hour timeframe. During the week I do 2-2½hrs at moderate to high intensity for 4-5 days and then I try for 3-5hrs a day on the weekends at moderate intensity. This should be enough? I fly up on the 15th, the day before the race, so I effectivley have 34 days left. Any training tips from the guru's? Here is a slapped-together route profile for the 340km...
  17. I do about 45-60km one way, 3-4 days a week on the MTB. I have a lift club and when it's my turn to drive I load the two bikes and leave them at the office. Next to days I drive in with the other guys and ride home.
  18. If your saddle isn't set up correctly, then: yes, and no. Is your saddle perfectly horizontal or pointing upwards?
  19. Just read the "team composition" from the youth development... If I had 6 male riders: Would it be OK if they were 4 white laaities with an Afrikaner culture and 2 white laaities with an English culture? Or do I read this whole thing wrong? Also, do you get white PDI riders?
  20. So, what you guys are basically saying, is that I'm screwed with the Desert Dash only 45 days away?
  21. Refer to my two posts above...

  23. Yeah, those Zipp 404 tubbies are very heavy at 1278g for the set, compared to the featherwheigt Mavic Ksyrium SR at 1445g for the set... The 303 are heavier at 1171g and if you want really heavy tubbies, you can always opt for the 202 at a leaden 1097g. FAIL...
