  1. I run 25c fortezza senso on zipp 303 non firecrest. Even the Giant brand brakes has an issue. The curve on the arm makes the arm touch the tyres. Had to fit a spacer behind the pads to make them stick out more. Even wider rims will be better as the top of the brake arms will be further away when the pads make contact. Or use 23c tyres.
  2. I like the Shimano brakes. I loved my XTRs as they operate nice and silent and plenty power too. XT is bulletproof and for the money the M8000 is fantastic. I have not tried the Hope and latest SRAM brakes and that's because all my other bikes are Shimano and use mineral oil. and they bleed easy too. Totally biased but I cannot fault Shimanos
  3. I heard its just the size 11 pair that was on review that was in the giveaway... wouldn't have fit me anyway. "Our test size 11 shoes with cleats and some dirt/sweat weighed in at 580 grams each." - https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/gear/reviews/review-five-ten-kestrel-shoes-r4496?source=related
  4. sharpied??
  5. EXACTLY!!! - I think it would be a great combo. I am yet to try a Magic Mary 2.35 SS front and ONZA Ibex 2.4 front and the Maxxis minions and high rollers - not very available... The Hans Dampf is ok but not great front and the Vigilante is GOOD - just needs a bit more beef.
  6. I think we need to write a letter of demand to WTB for a 2.4 or 2.45 Vigilante
  7. Proof is in the pudding - a 8.5kg Scott Spark. That's awesome.... Share some specs on the bar, stem and those wheels too man - what hubs etc. Do you ride it???
  8. Well in comparison to a 27.5 AM rig... Giant Trance Adv 27.5 RS PIKE PS Monarch Plus RS Reverb Dropper Full XTR with 1x10 (Wolftooth CR and Rapide expander) Giant P-TRX1 wheels (with Scwhalbe Hans Dampf front and Nobby Nic rear) Hope Rotors Look Pedals Dartmoor Stem and Spank Oozy vibracore bar. Selle Italia SLS Max saddle Titanium and KCNC Ally bolts everywhere 12kg flat ready to rock 12.6kg with 25mm Giant P-AM rims and WTB Vigalante and Trailboss tyres So yes a sub 11kg Anthem 29er even in Ally is quite possible - I would guarantee it. If you do a full money no object weight weenied carbon anthem I would think that a Sub 10kg is also possible. It wont be bullet proof but it is very possible.
  9. ok officially entered... going to borrow some extra light batteries
  10. Because no one posts their hardtails... sad really...
  11. Best you don't slip that hold on the front brakes... Like those colours.
  12. my slightly updated Trance... not bad @ 12.4kg as is
  13. BCC night rides rock!
  14. sounds like a plan!!!
  15. Not sure about that shock being upside down... don't see it lubing the seals internally.
  16. R29K on a phone quote.
  17. take me to your dealer...
  18. I had 81.4KM and 1858m Ascend. Its tough and there is always another hill... the +/- 5km downhill @ 50-60km/h is fun though... Some okes retired themselves down that hill. 2015 still had "portage" and the rocky first hill that everyone walk.
  19. As long as it is not the other way around...
  20. I dig these colours! congrats!
  21. Nice... I have stong hatefull feelings now... Congrats wish I would not just waste such a machine I would love to own one.
  22. PROPER!!! The tyres look kwaad man!
  23. Firstly I must rave about the WTB Vigilante again. Bloody brilliant. and with the trailboss 2.25 at the back all is well in control. When things do slide is is very progressive and the front Vigilante grips just that bit more than the back to keep things in check. Other than debris, very loose, or snotty muddy they don't let go at all. Will try the Onza tyres next but first I want MOAR WIDE wheels... and possibly a 150mm Pike
  24. YOH! that's quick!
