  1. Incidently - schwobbly's XC tyres have far less volume with at the same ratings as their beefier counterparts... Rara and Roro have far smaller volume casings at 2.25 than typically a Nic and Hans etc. and now... back to AM tyres...
  2. I have never since fallen so hard and nearly face planted as frequently as when I had Bontrager XR2 Team issue tyres (2.4 front 2.2 rear) on a Spez Stumpy I had - thosewhere really crap met 'n K. - a 2.1 Crossmark has more grip as a front tyre. but the maxxis IS better - hard gamble with your front teeth
  3. That's pretty impressive. Would love to see the power meter and stats from that ride. MTB tend to spin out around 60kmh but then gravity works great for them. Most of the speed must have been on the climbs - thus giving a good enough average speed.
  4. YOH! dem be Nice....
  5. Nice but get the boy some proper shoes and pedals man.
  6. policing nightmare when they cannot even keep everyone in their own batches. I think its best to make sure you are seeded high enough to not be stuck behind or between the MTB plebs... Seriously though there is a need for rider etiquette and rules being explained to the groups - especially the slower groups about keeping left and staying on your line as to allow others to pass if they need to. Especially when you have short route and long routes mixing in some events. the obliviousness of some people is shocking.
  7. This was a really bad idea... I know of 3 riders that went down a week early and caught that CT cold bug and decided to rather mis the race again. They are quite sick now and glad they opted out of yesterday. When the news of the down cyclist came out they all lost all the FOMO they had and decided they made the right move.
  8. It should just have said "no matter what mommy says" on the back
  9. I don't get to go many places the last 6 weeks since this dude came along so I am hitting the IDT between duties... Finally got to put this in him - waiting since Shova last year to... Say hello to Bikehub Logan...
  10. Also from last year like the bottle>>>>
  11. Agreed... 2018 Anthem Advanced Pro 1 colour with Fox factory suspension from the Pro 0 and shimano XTR 2x11. I would fit some other bars, stem saddle etc... Wishlist or dreambike spec... . Is Santa still taking requests????
  12. With a roof rack for the Giant
  13. Maybe some people need to be treated like children? Send them home and off the group ride immediately. Someone needs to be made an example of. Strong words maybe but its like crossing the centreline in races - individuals need to be DQ'ed and made example of. Probably you will find that it is the same n0bs on group rides ignoring the unwritten rules and the written ones...
  14. Very true and if you have a good LBS that stock Giant its even easier. I am not just being biased BUT when a very highly regarded Epic mechanic tells you how many Scott Sparks they got to mend all the time with seized pivots and cracked rear frame pieces VS the almost zero issues with Giant bikes... it kind of influences your decision. Also the bobtastic suspension on Scott when you forget to lockout the suspension for the millionth time is not my favourite either. And all bikes make funny noises when they not cleaned and maintained well even giant and scott and spez etc etc. Wish I could get my hands on that Giant Anthem - tested one for a couple of days in Advanced Pro 0 setup and now I cannot stop dreaming about it...
  15. Sell all an buy 1 decent Giant???
  16. Can one still enter if you ride a windsurfer? Just checking...
  17. personally did the short route last year with my wife as her first road event. This was good to get her used to what happens at starts etc on a nice easy ride and route but other than that, I would not be riding this event as it is daylight robbery. Premium full closure event prices for riding open routes with very little done for the cyclists? I think not. I wont be entering very many (if any) ASG events again I think... Always felt the value was lacking from their events.
  18. man... every time I visit Procycles and everytime I ride BCC trail - I always remember him.
  19. Hey Patch... did you hear... road disc brakes are legal to race with now: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/172616-cycling-south-africa-allows-disc-brakes-in-local-road-racing/page-2?do=findComment&comment=3279025 16.
  20. yes. and now suddenly your OLD bike is worthless but vintage.
  21. 50 - 100ml in each wheel - 29er with crests and Vittoria 2.2 tyres (Barzo and Saguaro) Cleaned at least every 3-4months and new fluid added - use the Ryder Fluid (White stuff with the black particles in it) I have not had to stop for any holes yet but have had to slow down just a bit so it seals before hammering on...
  22. I really don't feel like crashing into unskilled riders swerving wildly at 60kmh into the finish in A batch. Had enough of that last year along with the huge potholes and bad roads... no thanks. Suggest the stronger A bunchers drop the hammer 1/2 way and drop the posers. That way it will be safer for all... Hope everyone has a safe ride and the problems from last year has been addressed.
  23. if you wear an apron by the braai you should be bringing me a beer... endvanprent.
  24. I could write a book about AL group and the lack of self preservation - nevermind consideration for those around in the group. ...guys forcing past inside the group into gaps that don't exist and then when they are there they can't seem to hold the wheel... forcing a split and a chase back by everyone else... or constant surging and braking my pet hate... the guys that when they move forward cut across a line forcing evasive action by everyone but lets not rant about off topic issues... I wish I could stay with VA/VB (depending where the age split is done) but the pace is just too high to hang on most of the time and the gap to the AL or A batch is just too big to make the jump and go licenced.
  25. Winds can be hectic... if it keeps blowing like it has been doing... The amount of accidents and sinkholes at Fast One did not make for an easy race exactly... Got to be super alert at all these races with the winds and road conditions... Anyone check out the route roads yet?
