  1. I actually think that the race was only 50km. We spoke to plenty guys and non of them did further than 50km. Was well organised, but its a pity it starts so late and isn't a timed event.
  2. It is pretty safe, we have never had any issues. On most rides, there are only 2 or 3 of us and we have never felt threatened or unsafe. The only sections where I feel could be dangerous, are those near lanseria where you are in the middle of the bush with no one in sight. Drop myself or dorpie a pm if you are keen to join us. We try and get a ride or two in during the week (afternoons from 3ish) or on weekends
  3. 2nd Hand Cannondale. The lefty is the most amazing thing ever invented
  4. Check out this route from my Strava profile http://app.strava.com/activities/46762509
  5. Hey guys, I have some very cool routes from Ruimsig that head out to Lanseria, Kings Kloof, up K dorp hill and back down some serious trails. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will put up some gpx files
  6. Never had a problem with any rims doing it the ghetto way.
  7. Has anyone built up a 650b singlespeed yet?
  8. I have the same problem but with 2 different 26ers. I have ridden extensively on both but since putting on cranks with 175mm arms, I seem to catch every single rock in my path. The other bike has 170mm arms on and I seem to miss every rock. 5mm is not a lot of difference so I gather that it can't be that so I have put it down to bike geometry. One is a recreational frame and the other is a race frame. I presume this could be a problem?
  9. I had my Manitou Black serviced for the first time after 4 years and it felt like a brand new fork! It cost 500 Zars and they replaced the seals and oil. I cannot see how they can charge you R2500 for a service. Maybe the LBS knows that you only service your bike every 2 years so they need to make up for all the lost income
  10. I will speak from experience here and say that the Bryton 35 was one of my best cycling related purchases to date. I have never had a problem with satellites, however I do turn it on whilst I put my helmet and shoes on before a ride. I have never had a problem with the software, I think it works well and is great for a free service. I am running Bryton Bridge on a Mac and Mac's often don't have software specifically made for them, so this is a bonus. Polar still doesn't support Mac users which is one of the reasons why I decided to move to the Bryton. The battery is also great! I have only ever charged it when it is uploading my rides, otherwise it never sees a charger. The after sales support from Jason is also great considering I emailed him with a login problem the day I got my Bryton and he sorted the problem out before I had a chance to complain on here. Bryton FTW
  11. Ill be in Cannon Rocks and keen on a couple of MTB rides. I am quite interested in the Sebumo ride if you can give me some more information.
  12. These guys sound too busy to help us spend our money anyway. They have 2 x 94.7 expo's to do at the moment!!! I carrent believe it
  13. I have the same tensioner on my ss and it seems to slide up from pushing the chain down. The chain then becomes loose and falls off. Have you had the same issues? I have now set the tensioner to push up on the ChaIn and It seems far better.
  14. Go do the black route at Kings Kloof... That isn't as technical as the section at VG but it is a great start to getting a bit more confident.
  15. So pi$$ed that I missed this! When is the next one?
  16. Sorry to hijack but I saw an old Raleigh Flyer MKIII at a pawn shop today. It has the old "Raleigh Springs South Africa" badge on the front, a brooks saddle and ?Weideman brakes? It was a road bike and not a chopper and I cannot seem to find a pic online. Is this worth anything?
  17. Cool. I will keep looking. Thanks to you too
