  1. I suppose sex does sell lube. But I don't see the connection with chain lube and the bikini's.
  2. Yes. They will now state that shipping will take 3 months. Also, you cannot just be unhappy with the product because you actually bought the wrong thing. If there's nothing wrong with the product you will not be able to return it "at the shop's cost". The shop will probably not refund your shipping costs. Also, they will be very tentative to swop it if the packaging has been damaged.
  3. See, another use of the R40 chamois. Helping out your friends!
  4. Or we could pay R250 and then fork out R40 for a chamois from the car cleaning products section at picknpay. With one of those baby's you will be styling! And, you can yank it out after the ride when you wash your bike!
  5. I'm sure petrol stations do their books and can check attendants' records (they have to put their Attendant ID tag on the pump). Also, nowadays this resets the digits. This is only at newish petrol stations though. The double card swipe is a problem especially at restaurants and pubs. They take down your CC number and CVV number at the back and do another transaction later. Didn't the taxi industry strike when the petrol price went up to R10 a liter about 2 years ago. I also suppose they use the filling stations close to taxi ranks cos that's where are every morning and afternoon. I would also fill up there.
  6. Also, it sounds more like one of those emails that people send around that has no substance or proof to it. It causes a great hype and then dissapears...till next year when it's the email's turn to do the rounds again.
  7. Why do you assume that? I am, in fact I pretty sure that after income tax, petrol tax, vat etc I'm only left with about 45% of my actual income. (Not happy about this!!) However, the "taxi slip syndicate" will definitively not impact the tax bracket one bit. Worry about the R100mil youth party, the R500mil police HQ, the millions of travel claims. To worry about the extra couple of rands the taxi driver can claim on a false slip is petty and not worth my time to be honest.
  8. Live and let live. In SA we are so quick to remove the sunlight from our neighbour's yard. If we can't do anything with the slip, but the taxi driver can get some money back, who cares? Now, if you keep the slip nobody gets anything back. It's either lose - win or lose - lose. It's not like the tax brackets are going to be relaxed because less taxi drivers claimed fuel...
  9. Sometimes I think a lot of the 'claims' of modern supplements are merely marketing smoke and mirrors.
  10. I agree. Long sleeves will kill me here in Gauteng. I will only be able to wear the kit in winter, in the early mornings.
  11. #4 for sure. The black will be VERY hot after a couple of hours on the saddle and in the sun... maybe I should just finish my races quicker...
  12. Yes, my topeak has taken a lot of abuse and is still perfect.

    Hub cage/forum fight? I'm in!
  14. If stuff goes well its the lords doing... If stuff goes wrong the lord works in mysterious ways... Over it.
  15. What gets me is the local distributors' refusal to supply local online shops (not just cycling equipment...squash, tennis etc as well.). What should they care, they still sell the same stock whether through a LBS or a shopping site. Shops and distributors all in cahoots if you ask me.
  16. Stick to the 8 speed crank, shifters and casette. The casette should fit fine on the new wheels.
  17. 46C off the molotto road at Blue Moon Lodge race, near Pretoria. I almost died!
  18. If you do Groenies and then over to Fountains you can get about 40km of trail.
  19. What time does groenies open? Do you sommer shower there?
  20. Make your own. If you can get a steel handle, old chain and a drill you are sorted. Drill 3 holes into the steel handle. One at the end, one right next to it and one about 10cm from the end. Connect a 10cm piece of chain to the hole at the end. (It will hang loose and wrap around the casette). Connect a piece of chain between the second and 3rd hole. (to grop the casette) I made my own and it works like a dream.
  21. Here is my honest reply. Please don't take it personally, but... If there is a charity organiser that continues over and over to sell its idea and creates an overflow of requests for donations I lose all interest. Honestly, you have multiple threads and bump your own threads into kingdom come. Great initiative, great idea, but if people aren't too into it, try to approach it differently. Hell, I posted a thread about going for beers and you replied that I can donate the same amount that I would spend on 2 beers. Good luck though.

Ag, this is so petty. The mags didn't sell. I'm pretty sure about 80% of people who are complaining never bought any of those mags. I had a vending machine that sold snacks and cold drinks. I had those pink milkies and they didn't sell at all. So, after removing them people complained that there weren't any pink milkies anymore. So, I put them back in and guess what, they didn't sell. Also, people kept harping on that I didn't stock any healthy food. So, I started stocking fruit juices and granola bars, dried fruit sticks etc. Well, guess what. They also didn't sell. People just like complaining.

What are you talking about. Every issue is packed with valuable information on how to get a six pack in 6 days, gain more power with only 3 exercises, do the Argus with 2 weeks training! And, they repeat some articles in case you missed it in a previous issue. Invaluable. I even cycle with my Mag in my back pocket!
  24. I did a 8 to 9 speed conversion and it worked fine. Shifters and Casette. However, I think bikemonster might be right about the screw on cluster. Perhaps check if you have a screw on cluster or a casette that slides on. If the casette is a slide on one you'll be fine. Also, to be quite honest, my conversion didn't really do much for improved cycling. My most valuable upgrade was my suspension fork. I'm guessing with a 7 speed bike you have a crappy fork. Perhaps first upgrade that.
