  1. bikes are inside on wall mounts and they are also locked to these wall mounts.
  2. makes sense and can tack you in my mind ....... will see how it goes. looks like it is clearing so might be in luck for a ride tonight. we do loop heading towards blockhouse and then tafelberg road and then back on dirt at 2nd hairpin, some guys also do the uct loop for a longer ride.
  3. hey kandui, we ride on tueday's and thursday's from top of molteno @ 17h00 however, i do also end up being solo every now and then so maybe we can try to hook up. what route do you take on the mountain? i can then ride towards you and join your group?
  4. saturday = ride to kalk bay + rugby @ newlands sunday = ride to chappies + golf @ erinvale
  5. i'm a heavy rider and had the same problem on my mtb after replacing pads with xtr pads. they had no stopping power and made a hell of a noise. the lbs did bleeding and setting of brakes but nothing helped. i have since replaced with swisstop and it was the best "upgrade" ever, never looked back. simply fitted the pads and that was it .......
  6. Jip also noted it this weekend at Breede race ..... I make a specific reference to mtb bikes since I understand that you don’t want to take of your league number on your road bike which is the plastic tag under your seat and since the number stays the same.
  7. What is up with mtb riders these days leaving your previous event number on when arriving at an event or when doing a ride a week after the event. Surely when you clean your bike you take your numbers off …..? I’m I missing something or why would riders do this?
  8. no rain and great ride ....... without getting lost this year big thanks to the local community, i will be back next year.
  9. same as the motor bike and i'm also left handed, probably comes down to personal preference and no particular advantage which goes were ...... as long as you dont get it wrong by slamming on the front brake .......
  10. I used to ride a no name frame for two years and it was a relatively cheap way to get into carbon and made the word of difference. I have since moved to a different frame but sold the no name to a friend, he is very happy to date.
  11. I ride with cross marks .... no problem to date. I don't even buy the UST, just buy the normal foldable tyre and then use stans to seal and bob's your uncle .........
  12. Did you pay the same for the service and strap at the expo or did you get a special price?
  13. well done ...... my arverage heart rate was seriously high and i also ride an 11 tooth but goes all the way up to a 28 tooth ...... still did not help me to get up chappies with the group;
  14. I noticed a long queue at the polar stand at the Argus expo ..... what is the big deal .......?
  15. i can relate to the amount of effort you have to put in on the climbs .... i come in at 95kg and did a 3h05 ..... chappies was also the end of the bunch for me :-(
  16. Hi All, I’m interested to know what sort of power the bigger guys put down in a race like the Argus. The power output in Watts needs to be much higher to finish in the same time than a lighter rider but the question is how much more …….? So if you are >90kgs and complete the 2012 Argus in <3h05 and have the data available please post the power you put down on the climbs to stay with the bunch.
  17. I’m in two minds …. Should I ride the Argus with deep sections or should I go with my lighter wheelset since there is a fair bit of climbing. On the open road you are in most cases protected by the bunch so I don’t see the aerodynamic advantage of the deep section wheels as a great advantage plus you have to carry the additional weight up the climbs ……? Will be interesting to hear what you think …..?
  18. i feel the same. would love to do the event and will in future wait till the end and try and find a bargin, that is the only way i will ever get to do the epic since R35k can buy me much more than a stage race.
  19. jip, if you are light weight stay away in strong winds ..... i ride my deep sections in wind but then again i have some serious gravity on my side.
  20. I use to take a number of energy gels during a race and then beginning of this year stopped using any of the energy gels and just drink my mix. I have since complete a number of races including endurance events like the DC and don’t really feel like I’m at a disadvantage. How many of you hubbers still believe in the super powers of the energy gels and how many of you ride without it?
  21. I did some proper homework a couple of years ago to buy my first mtb after doing quite a bit of road riding. The TFS 500 was the best value for money at that stage for what I needed. The price seems good. I will also get prices from King’s Cycles in Worcester, they have very good deals. Best of luck !!
  22. will there only be demo bikes this saturday only or will it be a regular event? can't make this saturday but would love to get my hand on a 29'er to experience what most of you are raving about ....
