  1. That Tommy from JHB is my BIL! Coming to visit me in a few days, but I`m no racing snake, ek gaan alweer klippe kou. All the best on your ride @capediverwill check in daily.
  2. Did it many years ago. Buy a permit at the gate and tar road to the top. Was a relaxing ride, just spin it up and do not stop untill the top. Just do it!
  3. There is a thread of a dad going to great lengths and cost to built a proper light race bike. My searching skills not op to standard unfortunately, it was shorter, lighter cranks, Crest rims... The prior year Crown Vee Gem 2.25, the one with the natural side wall, we successfully converted two sets tubeless with not a days trouble, going down to very low air pressure. This current year model the side wall felt thin and was not confident it will hold and therefor replaced. We need tubeless where we stay and ride.
  4. Thank you. Tommeke`s birthday was in July, well worth the wait. The red grips and orange pedals was his idea, the reverse of his brothers orange grips and red pedals. We did fail the first test, when Dirk drop the bike at our house, "hier is dan nie `n kick stand nie". Quickly sorted from his 16inch. Excited about the tyres, the previous bikes we did a ghetto conversion, these are tubeless tyres, for our riding way to aggressive but sure after a few S`e the rolling resistance will be sorted. Once again thanks to my LBS, Cycle City & Dirk, for the effort and great service.
  5. New bike day, new grips, pedals and 2.40 tyres. We could not go for a ride, year end concertđŸ˜¬,hopefully we can go on Sat! Thanks to Dirk from Cycle City Upington
  6. New Titan Racing incoming. Waiting for the tubeless tyres, grips and pedals. Impressed the bike is lighter than the previous version and reach looks a bit less stretched, upgraded gears to shimano and the rims are wide! Thanks @Titan Racing Bikesfor all your efforts. Will update with the final bike, Tommeke and siblings on their Titan’s.
  7. Had a proper trip! ICU type of trip! Beautiful bike! Remember fondly the Lynskey, only after she`s gone did I appreciate the ride feel.
  8. Check your DM`s. All the best.

    Gravel burn 2025

Think I have a plan, for my FOMO. My bond is with Nedbank...my wife is gatvol for the house renovations standing still. Just perhaps it is possible to lend more, cozy with up with Pieter for an entry..my stars must be aligning while typing received an email about the new Open Upper 2.0 with electric Campy Super X....what is this loan to value they talking about.
  15. That size 52 should fit!
  16. This Willier Filante review also made mention of the classy decals on the Miche wheels. https://escapecollective.com/review-the-new-wilier-filante-id2-muddies-the-whos-an-aero-bike-for-waters/ Cool that Willier and Miche is family owned and operational.
  17. Looking forward to the build update. What bike is your dad using for Burn? Saw the picture in the Burn thread, there were a great looking green Willier.
  18. Isla bikes is the best if you can get your hands on one. Company went belly up after the covid boom. Frogs are awesome bikes, but also only on the second hand market available. Think you may have seen a Sprocket, cool design bikes with crisp look about them. Great for urban riding. We stay in the platteland, dik rooi sand, driesoring en hak en steek, therefor we need a bit more robust tyre and preferable gears. Some of the reasons why the Roxter 16inch is house bound. The eldest have race sub nippers on their 20inch Titan Racing bikes. https://www.sprocketbikes.co.za Same distributor as TR.
  19. Ask for photos from the drive side. Looks like Shimano Tourney 8speed, around R1600 to replace. Either 2024 or 2021 model. If it is 24 model, new chain and shipment, negotiate on price around R4300-R4400 If 2021 model to expensive, around R3500. New they are around R7k.
  20. Do you have al link or photos? The Roxters is finished off beautifully, like headset bumpers, cool paint jobs, small but sturdy stands and grips, but lack value on groupset and brakes compared to the other alternatives. One of those brushed alloy look with the part set of a Titan Racing will get my money.
  21. @dewaldsssagree on the Scott Roxters, not worth the money. We have one in our stable, lets call it the house bike, it is only ridden in house, we are bad parents, looks spotless but has a coaster brake on the 16inch wheels. The very nice bikes you have, not sure the Silverback will make do, friends have one and there is a difference in quality compared to the TR Hades SE. Going from 20 to 24 different discussion, my recommendation is to skip the 24 and go straight to 26, there Giant has a very attractive offering. 27.5 and Scott and Trek comes into the picture Will post pics when we receive the TR Drone JR and for comparison show the previous gen as well.
  22. We had two of the previous gen Titan Racing Hades SE Team bikes with air suspension and hydraulic Tektro brakes. Very nice bikes and the boys enjoyed them, getto conversion for tubeless and not a days troubles. The Suntour fork on the fist bike was very nice, the second with a guess house brand Sweep fork, not so nice, could not get the fork supple on the low weight of the boys. I`m waiting for the new Drone JR to land in SA, it replaces the Hades SE Team version. Expecting middle Nov, not sure on the spec list but definitely air fork and hydraulic brakes and hopefully shimano gearing. The Player has a cool Mango color! Our second choice, if I could get an old Hades SE Team the plan was to strip and build over on the Groovy Mango. Just yesterday we went for a ride, our youngest on a 10 year old Norco 16inch that was abused by his brothers and he could not be bothered, just out riding and enjoying life. Never thought I would have kids, so made a promise they will always have cool shoes and bikes. Between that promise and the dogs, retirement is not on the cards.
  23. With all of the riders leaving IP, was hopefull he could get a ride their for another year or two. If you had enough, its time. He can be proud of his career!
  24. Louis called it a day. https://escapecollective.com/its-the-end-of-a-beautiful-story-demare-headlines-list-of-riders-retiring-this-weekend
