  1. Accommodation options: Kameeldoring Camping site - Ideal if you like to camp or comfortable with a tented chalet, 3km from the start of Trans-Augrabies. Option to rent a Bush-Lapa in Upington from Oryx Outdoors. Home | Kameeldoring Camping The Falls Guesthouse - Ideal if you looking for b&b, 5 km from the stat of Trans-Augrabies. The Falls Guesthouse Lake Grappa - Ideal if you looking for self-service or two bedrooms and away from the race, it is about 15km from the start. Personally I would not cycle to the start just due to the early morning temperature. Disclaimer, I`ve stayed at all three enjoyed our stays, some were for business and others for family weekends. And yes they are all three clients of mine but I paid my own way. Other options: Augrabies Lodge, 7km from the start, normally my lunch stop. De Oude Stoor, 7km from the start. HOME - De Oude Stoor About the event, was born between friends after the Trans-Portugal race they did together. It is now run by the Strauss family, a family affair with everyone doing their part. It was in the first years a point to point race, I did like that format just because it show cased our region. The race is now in Augrabies and surrounds. It is not a high numbers race, just due to the remoteness, date in the year calendar and the nature of the trails, you are not going to find manicured trails. It is a must to take the meals package and take some time to frequent the hospitality tent, some local endurance legends (Kapnoudhis, F Strauss, Killian, van der Merwe) that will ensure you have a good time! While you are here, please explore our region. It is not fishing season, but perhaps you can take a chance at catching klein-bek geelvis or at least a catfish. Kalahari Adventures Some semi-precious stones at Crystal Springs Minerals in Aleid(between Kakamas and Augrabies). Kgalagadi Transfronteir Park needs no introduction! Some gravel riding exploring perhaps, take the Neilersdrift gravel road (R359) from Kakamas, through Keimoes onto Kanoneiland and stay over at Oranje Rus (under new ownership and forms part of the NC Famous Lodge group). This was normally my birthday celebration ride. Other gravel option is the gravel road through Vredesvallei, Riemvasmaak onto Kakamas, have not ridden with a bicycle so can`t comment. Eendag as ek groot is(kinders uit die huis) gaan ek julle weer join.
  2. @bleedToWin great choice, we could not be happier and sure you will also be happy. After fitting the Rocket Ron`s, Tom now wants to go and ride, yesterday even took the road with his elder brother and friend. Normally I need to ride with or run along. The RR seated easy and holding up to duwweltjies after the rain.
  3. @ChrisFThanks for promoting our region and local race! The region had lots of rain, was not the best table grape and raisin season and the citrus look peculiar with expected increase in shipping. However, the great Orange river is full, flowing fast, the veld and animals look great, meat aplenty! and we are entering out two most beautiful months of the year, April and May. It is now the time to start that training and come and enjoy the Northern Cape.
  4. Logged in but if I want to comment on the new Orbea partnership it says login to comment, clicking on login, right top you are already logged in.
  5. The 2.4 Vee Tire is 748. Set still available for free.
  6. This geo block is concerning. What is our alternatives if the local supplier(s) do not bring in 20 and 24 tubeless tyres? It took me 6 months to "chase" tyres in SA from Bontragers to Kenda for my local LBS to sort two sets via Cytek (was special order), unfortunately they are just not fit for our use in the flat land, kids in WC and KZN will probably love them.
  7. Must be new. Place my order 2 Feb 2026. DHL working through SAPO not the best. On Monday the parcel was lost, on Wednesday only arriving in SA between 12 - 14 March, for the local SAPO branch to contact our office with the good news the parcel is with them and they will keep for 7 days. Give me 7minutes and I am there. Will post picture in next week of the fitment.
  8. They finally arrived. First ever only purchase from across the great Orange River. Took about 3 weeks to arrive, import tax and duties below my estimate and the end price being R908. Alot of money bit could not source an alternative. Bought 20 and 24, all three boys sorted.
  9. The burly 20inch I’m willing to pass on. Nothing wrong, keeping it air it is just not suited for our area and a bit heavy for Tommeke, he does not have the piston’s like Tom Boonen.
  10. These work great. Veetire Co Crown Gem. Done a 20inch that is holding for 4 years, very low pressure but they are finished.
  11. Rocket Ron’s😬 2 pair 20inch for my Tommeke and his nephew. 24inch for our eldest.
  12. Yes but could not get the ligther more xco version. It is a proper burly tyre. Closed my eyes and bought from Bike24, the replacement is at SAPO. If the come more than willing to pass the Veetire onto you to pay it forward. On the school run wil send pics.
  13. Made the mistake to order from Bike24 with DHL, parcel at Sapo and not moving. 😭
  14. Agree, and basically you get the s-works frame for R15k less.
  15. Remember this is the top end frame, no difference in frame carbon, lay-up for entry anthem 3 to top spec.
  16. My money is on the saddle rails.
  17. Great @ChrisF, the best is, he will remember you, your gait, shoe size, he even remember all the Upington folk.
  18. Thanks for sharing @capediver All the best for your next adventure.
  19. Also used them around 15 years ago. Cliff if I recall, there is a lady that does the stencils and stickers.
  20. We are big Titan Racing fans, we have three between the boys. Said last year if it was not for three boys, I would skip 24 and go to 26. This currently must be the best value: https://giant-bicycles.co.za/products/stp-26-metallic-black?available%20colours=metallic%20black&available%20sizes=regular There is also different frame sizes.
  21. Julle het Sportmans...Upington het nie eers meer `n sport winkel nie, net sport fashion winkels. RunnersEdge Stellenbosch.
  22. If you run in neutral shoes, for the price, my recommendation is the Rise.
  23. What shoes do you currently have? Switched to Adidas Supernova Rise last year, bought on special at Poobie Naidoo. Made the switch from Hoka Clifton and New Balance 1080, decision was based on price and I am very satisfied with the Rise, looking to buy another pair. The Rise is taking me back to my school years running in Adidas Ozweego.
  24. Alpha Beta`s is a brick and mortar store in Kimberley. Run by Wimpie if I`m not mistaken and a lady. There are hubbers in Kimberley than can confirm @Super Sywurm
