  8. what did you expect to get out there? with all the rain we have had, it was obvious that it was going to be muddy. As already said, the organisers worked their fingers to the bone to get everything race ready and yes it was a mess with the slower riders and and and... as a roadie, this was really really extreme for me, but hey, what an experience, and I'll probably be back for more next time. I would love to get all the bitchers together as organisers of a race - to see if they can do it better.
  9. Must say the best service I ever had from SAPS was in Dec in Mosselbay when they stole 4 of our bikes on the 30th Dec. I discovered it @ 5 in the morning, the inspector who took down my statement already left our place by 7. I went and had some pics printed, which was collected from me at the beach by about 12. They told me they had a R 10k reward they could pay out, and will try get the pics in the local newspaper asap. 31st the detectives only worked till 12, and was off on 1st which was the friday. By monday 4th, they had discovered my road bike. Give credit where its due - its clear they know to be on the lookout for bikes. Lets hope it continues and the jackings stop soon.
  10. go to www.spectrumsport.co.za there should be a number or email addie you can try
  11. these bikes did the trick for Sky today!! saw a gent sitting on a white one close to the finish @ Emperors this morning, obviously waiting for someone. might have been in C/D bunch - lucky bugger. Not sure I'll be prepared to spend that much - even if I did have it. The FP 6 will have to do for now - then again saw those red/white FP 7's that some of the Bruce Reyneke guys ride on - bloody hell, that is eye candy!!
  12. I got 105.0 on the Ibike Pothole section was terrifying , but rest was great. One or two hairy intersections with sleepy marshalls, but still great race. pretty poor show to get assistance from vehicles, but hey if you get away with it.... sods
  13. Hope you make a speedy recovery Bradley. Good luck to his friends and family.
  14. please also do something about the water on the MTB route
  15. That's how I know him... good oke do yourself a favour and look at which races they organize, being a cyclist himself, he obviously knows what is NB to riders and makes sure it gets the proper attention. Great one thanks Wynand!

    "Rip off"

that is what happens when - you lend your ears out - go find out for yourself and then you know - cyclists have diff experiences from lbs's - you dont build a relationship with a local lbs - you say you have been supporting them for long time, go back and tell them what the situation is, if they dont want your business , you know where to take your money
  21. happiness B start - 2009 was S.....
  22. the more that is said in this thread , the less is being achieved everyone is staring to threaten everyone and quite frankly the comments are childish and laughable (or a great deal thereof) whilst trying to solve the issue and getting to a workable solution, it seems the residents (some of them claiming to be cyclists themselves???) are really trying to create their own volkstaat by bordering it and laying claim to ownership of the roads. on the other hand ignorant riders are continuing to add fuel to the fire. If someone with the experience of the riders involved in the initial incident that lead to this thread, is implicated as being in the wrong, then I hate to think what the reaction would be with less experienced riders. A vehicle passing that close to someone less experienced will most certainly lead to a tragedy, which is the last thing anyone wants to see - except maybe the driver implicated? stop the bickering , attend the meeting, be as brave there as on this forum, surely hard words will fall, but hopefully a solution will be found and maybe a peace treaty is a good idea too. if this wasnt such a serious issue - it would have received the Oscar for best movie script even before the year has started properly. By the way Mr Ples - on the matter of the name calling you refer to go read your post again and be honest with yourself. You doing exactly the same... and as you pointed out for every action there is a natural reaction
  23. As I have it you will still have a much better starting time as a licenced rider - at least in Gauteng that is eg Fast One this weekend Vets 40-44 - 6:10 Open A - 6:45
  24. Condolences to the Knoetzen family. RIP George
