  1. That's exactly right. Unfortunately there is no right answer here as they all have their advantages and disadvantages. I've researched the cars we like and they have all been pretty good so at the end of the day, if you find one that fits the bill then go for it.
  2. Well its not very clear but from what i have read, its mainly the new cars and older model diesels they say will not be affected but im sure there will be fines for high co2 emission cars when entering cities in the future so its something to take into account when buying a car. We also would like to by for a long time as we don't know what our situation will be like in a few years.
  3. You see, pretty much ruling out all of em..
  4. I've seen a few of them but they have rather high mileage and older models like 2009/10 and the CO2 volume is large and here they are going to start clamping down on Co2 emissions with fines when entering cities.

  6. Well there the thing, every-time we find a car that we like that seems to have a good review (non are perfect) it either has a semi-auto or a CVT and a few like the Seat and VW have DSG. So if all those are costly and not reliable, the traditional (torque converter) auto is rare as hardly any cars we look at have it so hence i'm rather frustrated now. The reason for the auto is because...why not? Traffic can be a nightmare and so this makes things a little easier and also easier for the wife to drive as parking is tight here and its rather hilly so it will help her. We have a manual Ford Fiesta 2009 at the moment and its a great little car but we need a second car an want something a little bigger as we have two kids. An SUV is a little out our budget and most are heavy on fuel and CO2 but have good boot space. So we are thinking af a larger hatch back like a Ford Focus where the boot is slightly bigger and if we need more space for lets say a holiday then we thinking of roof rails and fitting a box.
  7. By regular auto, are we talking about the semi auto/auto clutch manual?
  8. This is not so much a maintenance question but does entail it. We are looking at getting an automatic as a second car but cannot decide which automatic is best. We have seen that majority are CVT or Semi Auto with few DSG out there. looking at the cons, the CVT can have a drone due the revs being kept fairly constant and the Semi may not always change gears when it needs to or get stuck in a gear and expensive to fix if it goes wrong. Reliability seems pretty ok for most but not 100% on this. Anyone got any experience with different automatics and whats best?
  9. Used gorilla tape for my tubeless setup a few years back and have had no issues since and works brilliant. I did make sure i cleaned the rims very well and put the tape on as straight as possible with out any sort of creases. Jewbacca made an excellent point on the electrical tape over that. I never did that but if i need to re-tape at some point, i will use gorilla tape again and then the electrical tape over that.
  10. All the goodies fitted. So much of awsomeness.
  11. You have a Hulk Duvet Cover.....nice...
  12. Yes, Its a softer compound for better grip but the rolling resistance is better than the mx grip on their range. Honestly dont think i need the extra grip on the rear as the MM has plenty of it. I think the DHF 2 (non 3C) should be a good option. With so many tyres out there, i juat want something with good all round grip that rolls pretty good. If tyres were cheap then i would buy 3-4 one shot and test them all and choose...lol
  13. So you would recommend the DHR2 iver the high roller for the rear then? Was actually trying to compare those two options.
  14. The High Roller seems popular also. Can someone tell me if it would be worth getting this tyre with the 3c max terra compound for the rear as apposed to not having it at all? The 3c ups the price quite a bitm
  15. Current Tyre Combo: Magic Mary / Rock Razor. Awsome while is SA but here in the UK its a slighlty diffirent ball game, especially in winter. Finding that the RR is not giving enough grip as its a bit more wet amd soft on the wood trails. The trails here are really focused on flowy more DH stuff so lots of berms, table tops, doubles, gaps, drops.....etc. What different rear tyre can i pair with the aggressive MM thats a little more grippy all round but wont make it feel too draggy?
  16. Forking exciting ????
  17. A few things arrived today ????????
  18. Greno Woods, Sheffield. After i replaced the pivot bearings and rear shock, the bike was running sooooo smooth and absorbed everything. The new rear shock (RS Monarch Plus) seems waaayyy better than the previous one (Fox Float X) so pretty chuffed. The trails at this place were awesome and flowed so well. Lots of berms and jumps.Need to practice the jumps cos i suck..lol
  19. Monarch Plus RC3. Must say, it looks soooo much better than the previous kashima fox...all stealth like.
  20. Parkwood Springs, Sheffield.
  21. Took some out of unpacking and slaving away to put the Trance together and install my new 40mm od2 stem. Looks sweet
  22. Really like MMs music...mechanical animals is by far his best album but most have been pretty good and always worth it.
  23. The UK....permanently. This is what i have decided to do: i have one those french press things and my wife says we have a milk frother (will need to check when our container arrives) and a coffee grinder although intead the one we have is more of a spice grider, the one with blades so might get a proper coffee only one. Then try my hand at the french press thing and practice a bit to get a superb cuppa and judge how much work it is and if i am happy to do that for a great cuppa. If i loather it then a manual machine may not be the answer and perhaps the Nespresso is back in the picture although i really dont think is a great cup of coffee. Can you make an expresso with the french press?
  24. Haha..light flooding. Was chatting to wife again last night about commuting and the prosepect of getting another bike (although it will be as cheap but good as possible) but she sort of ignores me and says we should talk about it once i have signed the work contract, fair enough. In the interim been browsing sone bikes amd leaning towards a hardtail MTB rather than a road or hybrid. Nice to have some front suspension and have hardly ever ridden a road bike. Was thinking if a single speed would be ideal to keep maintenance down to a minimum and its a short commute. Thoughts on this?
  25. Do you commute in the rain? Its raining today (surprise) but it starst as a drizzle and the gets slighlty harder and then stops...and then drizzles lightly..then stops...you get the idea
