  1. Was going to ask whats the best way to pack your clothes.
  2. Heres the link to what it would be, about 3 miles so rather short. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/The+Crescent,+Wood+Lane,+Treeton,+Rotherham/B+O+C+Ltd,+Bawtry+Rd,+Brinsworth,+Rotherham+S60+5NT/@53.3962628,-1.3788208,14z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x4879761e2c631f49:0xa55770fbb00afd3a!2m2!1d-1.3441171!2d53.3834443!1m5!1m1!1s0x487977b0cf6358db:0x7699cb8b4344e2cb!2m2!1d-1.3838762!2d53.4077828!3e1?hl=en&authuser=0
  3. Ok cool. Have lots of wet wipes around due to having two young kids ????
  4. Ok right. Sounds like an odd question but what if there are no shower facilities? Is it just a matter of going to bathroom, wash face and freshen up a little bit?
  5. Do you guys commute in your full cycling hear and carry work clothes in a backpack and change at work? If you have shower facilities at work do you shower or just freshen up and then change again to cycle home?
  6. Havent heard of this aeropress so googled it. Seems pretty simple and easy to use. Could be a good choice to see if the manual method of an expensive machine is viable. How do you ensure you get fresh roasted beans? Specialist coffee shops?
  7. We got a filter coffee machine and separate grinder as a wedding gift but didn't really like the filtered coffee too much but was cool grinding up the beans. Tasted a few nespresso coffees today at one of their stores and cant help but taste like its not that great coffee. Almost like a packet curry mix rather than making it from Scratch...hahaha. The pods are also expensive. I really like the convenience of it and the not much cleaning at all aspect. The manual one appeals to me as you get involved a bit more and tastes more authentic but its a little more work and a bit more cleaning.
  8. Recently been interested in a coffee machine as the wife likes her coffee and i enjoy a morning coffee and expresso or two. We have been going back and forth on whether to get a manual machine (where you grind the coffee or just get already ground coffee and put it in that little handle thingy and where you get the milk frother thing) or a Nespresso with the attached milk compartment. With the manual one its a bit more work and a few more things to clean and just concerned we wont use it as much as a result. The Nespresso is easy as you just pop in a capsule and press a button on which coffee you want and bam, there it is. This comes with a more hefty price tag though. Just don't know which is best. What say thee coffee gurus? (Forgive for not going through almost 300 pages)
  9. Also been told they too hard and then let the air out a bit and they feel a little too soft but my mate says its all good.
  10. Any idea how accurate those are as been thinking of getting one? The one on my track pump is rubbish i think as it said 1.8 bar and it felt like over 2bar. Now i just go by feel.
  11. I see what you saying. Once i have the job and worked out a transport plan with the wife then will look for a commuter bike and find out about the subsidy. Thanks
  12. What about getting a "cheap" wheel set with some more commute friendly tires for the Trance? As for getting stolen, it doenst happen as much here (not to say that it cant but less likely)
  13. Well theres another point of is it worth commuting in the dead of winter. I wont know until my first winter here arrives.
  14. A quick google and they look pretty cool. Windproof, waterproof, thermal....etc...pricey too...£30 odd a pair..
  15. I think they do salt the roads here also and there is not snow all the the time so not too common. I will need some winter clothing for sure as its gets freck cold and lights as it gets dark early. Here is a link to the route: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/The+Crescent,+Wood+Lane,+Treeton,+Rotherham/B+O+C+Ltd,+Bawtry+Rd,+Brinsworth,+Rotherham+S60+5NT/@53.3962628,-1.3788208,14z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x4879761e2c631f49:0xa55770fbb00afd3a!2m2!1d-1.3441171!2d53.3834443!1m5!1m1!1s0x487977b0cf6358db:0x7699cb8b4344e2cb!2m2!1d-1.3838762!2d53.4077828!3e1?hl=en&authuser=0
  16. First time posting on this thread as was not able to commute back in SA but things might be changing here in the UK. Forgive me for not reading through the 173 pages I am almost closing the deal on a job that is about 9 minutes from home by car and about 20-30 minutes by cycle. My wife will more than likely quite her job to look after the kiddies (babycare hellishly expensive) and eventually get a part time job and then full time again once kiddies old enough to go to free school. We only have one car which should be left with the wife to take the kids out and get around and if there are any emergencies. So, commuting is now on the cards which is awesome. Right, onto the bike stuff. I have a beautiful Giant Trance kitted out for All Mountain trail use and no other machine and shall be using her to get me to work and back. It not the ideal commuter but it should be fine right (i guess the big fat knobbly tires will pose an issue)? As the UK is heading into the winter months ( ) i guess i will need some warm stuff and lights. What are the commuter basics i should know? Should i look at getting another bike (what a silly question i know)and if so what is the absolute cheap alternative (funds have dwindled significantly)? Im not a roadie at all so limited knowledge there.
  17. Anyone know the best UK sites for selling and buying bike stuff?
  18. Building up the tool collection so bought a tool that i probably wont use often but nice to have when i need it.
  19. Love Slipknot, one of my favorite bands.
  20. I am going to start needing some of this clothing now. Where did you get it?
  21. Yoh, thats a bargain
  22. I have been wanting to invest in some knee pads for some time now but with vast variety out there i just gave up trying to decide which one. Was really keen on the Leatt pads but from the above responses, i don't think they are a viable option Interested to hear the OPs review on the 661 pads. Who else is using what out there?
