  1. Any idea how accurate those are as been thinking of getting one? The one on my track pump is rubbish i think as it said 1.8 bar and it felt like over 2bar. Now i just go by feel.
  2. I see what you saying. Once i have the job and worked out a transport plan with the wife then will look for a commuter bike and find out about the subsidy. Thanks
  3. What about getting a "cheap" wheel set with some more commute friendly tires for the Trance? As for getting stolen, it doenst happen as much here (not to say that it cant but less likely)
  4. Well theres another point of is it worth commuting in the dead of winter. I wont know until my first winter here arrives.
  5. A quick google and they look pretty cool. Windproof, waterproof, thermal....etc...pricey too...£30 odd a pair..
  6. I think they do salt the roads here also and there is not snow all the the time so not too common. I will need some winter clothing for sure as its gets freck cold and lights as it gets dark early. Here is a link to the route: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/The+Crescent,+Wood+Lane,+Treeton,+Rotherham/B+O+C+Ltd,+Bawtry+Rd,+Brinsworth,+Rotherham+S60+5NT/@53.3962628,-1.3788208,14z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x4879761e2c631f49:0xa55770fbb00afd3a!2m2!1d-1.3441171!2d53.3834443!1m5!1m1!1s0x487977b0cf6358db:0x7699cb8b4344e2cb!2m2!1d-1.3838762!2d53.4077828!3e1?hl=en&authuser=0
  7. First time posting on this thread as was not able to commute back in SA but things might be changing here in the UK. Forgive me for not reading through the 173 pages I am almost closing the deal on a job that is about 9 minutes from home by car and about 20-30 minutes by cycle. My wife will more than likely quite her job to look after the kiddies (babycare hellishly expensive) and eventually get a part time job and then full time again once kiddies old enough to go to free school. We only have one car which should be left with the wife to take the kids out and get around and if there are any emergencies. So, commuting is now on the cards which is awesome. Right, onto the bike stuff. I have a beautiful Giant Trance kitted out for All Mountain trail use and no other machine and shall be using her to get me to work and back. It not the ideal commuter but it should be fine right (i guess the big fat knobbly tires will pose an issue)? As the UK is heading into the winter months ( ) i guess i will need some warm stuff and lights. What are the commuter basics i should know? Should i look at getting another bike (what a silly question i know)and if so what is the absolute cheap alternative (funds have dwindled significantly)? Im not a roadie at all so limited knowledge there.
  8. Anyone know the best UK sites for selling and buying bike stuff?
  9. Building up the tool collection so bought a tool that i probably wont use often but nice to have when i need it.
  10. Love Slipknot, one of my favorite bands.
  11. I am going to start needing some of this clothing now. Where did you get it?
  12. Yoh, thats a bargain
  13. I have been wanting to invest in some knee pads for some time now but with vast variety out there i just gave up trying to decide which one. Was really keen on the Leatt pads but from the above responses, i don't think they are a viable option Interested to hear the OPs review on the 661 pads. Who else is using what out there?
  14. My bike only arrives in 3 months time as was shipped with the container. Used my mates wife bike amd went for a roll at Sherwood pines and man oh man did i wish i had my bike as there was some sweet trails. After the ride we all sat in the open park section while the kids played...awsome
  15. Thata awsome. Want to start saving for a new fork and keen on the "other" not so popular forks and really like the look and reviews of the Mattoc.
  16. Is that the Mattoc Pro? If so, whats it like?
  17. How effective is that little gadget?
  18. Is it me or does anyone else see the weird smiling face in that first pic?
  19. Don't know why, but suddenly soccer has become my new favorite sport to watch...
  20. Wow, that took me a long time to see it. Amazing camouflage
  21. That oak just makes everything look so easy, not fair that one person has so much talent...lol...there was some wooden planks before the drop off where i hit the dirt.
  22. Today i did a skills lesson with Peach at Hakahana, first time on enduro lines...holeee sheeet...some hectic stuff. Got the first drop off that had and rolled in ok but then as soon as i landed, the front tyre seemed to wash out and i hit the dirt hard, it hurt. Got back ul and did it a few more times which went without incident. We then went through some other cool flowy stuff and came to this massive drop off that my heart pound and nerves tingle. Attached some bad quality pics that do that thing no justice at all. I dropped in and the ground just completely fell away for what felt like minutes until i hit the ground and skidded forward, geez, my heart was pounding hard..hahah...proceeded to do it a few more times and it got better. We then eneded off with some jumps which again is not part of my skills profile but gave it a go. The forst two or so were sketchy but then i was getting used to the feeling of being in the air and jumped one or two good ones. My last jump was superb, i got some good, controlled air and landed spot on to hit the next one even higher and landed it perfectly, smiling galore. Left it on that one. Loved that sort of riding, good fun
  23. That kid got some evil in her....lol
