  1. Like I said before, its all about money. And a bit of ego.
  2. So who's willing to go buy sports drink at the BikeShop while wearing this shirt?
  3. Plett is quite a drive for a tube while in Knysna
  4. Running a pharmacy?
  5. I dunno... According to the interwebs, he announced his retirement in May 2015. So they will roughly just be rubbing out 1 year's worth of results?
  6. "...therefore the athlete’s results extending back to March 14, 2014 will be recommended to Cycling SA for disqualification" Only from 2014? So pretty much not allot is going to get scrapped... I'd say it should be scrapped to like back to 2008 or so.
  7. Can we maar just go ahead and stop professional cycling in South Africa entirely? Seems like a much easier solution.
  8. Rourke Croeser must be super amped by this announcement, that sponsors still want to touch you after being busted for doping.
  9. All of which is pretty funny coming from a bunch of okes, myself included, that get jittery if they can't get onto the Hub at least a few times a day...
  10. I doubt anything you could have done would have helped him at all. Which is why so many people relapse after rehab. They don't care to turn their ways around.
  11. You rock. Glad he is out of your life.
  12. Spent my entire December holiday injured and sick. Over trained (or as they say, there is no such thing as over-training, only Under Resting), and sick. Had a pain on the lower outside of right leg, put pressure on the leg and it the leg would just "give", almost collapse from the numb pain. Had to rest for about 2-3 weeks to get that to go away, and just as it was almost gone, have a cold why don't you, another week off. Training for the Addo 100 miler took a serious knock. Now to salvage what I can and hopefully stay healthy till 26 February.
  13. The problem with these okes is that in their heads, they are "on top of it". Everything is still cool. If he indeed has a drug issue he probably thinks its no real problem.
  14. I could SWEAR I saw him driving in Newton Park this morning...
  15. Drugs is a terrible thing. Mate of mine probably went through like 5 jobs in 4 years. Eventually lost his wife and kids after wife couldn't take it anymore. Used kid's nest eggs to buy drugs. This oke must be in the same boat. Best solution is tough love. Wrapping these idiots in cotton balls isn't going to help them straighten out. The need to loose everything, everything, be sitting on the street in their onderbroeks. Then hopefully they start realizing what they have done.
  16. Makes me wonder why okes are searching for balls the the hub and reviving a 6 year old thread.
  17. Marcel Kittel's old Giant/Alpacin team, I had no idea what Alpacin is or what they did. How many people on TheHub do? Turns out they make shampoo, saw in the shops the other day. I had no clue. Regarding RECM, they handle money and investments I think?
  18. Professional cycling is a business, not sport. Riders are race horses decorated with logos and slogans. A billboard on wheels. Went to watch the TdF in 2013 and when you are there it hits home how the cycling plays such a small part. An hour before the riders come past, the sponsors convoy comes past where they throw freebies and other products at you, trying to get you to start buying their products. This takes the better part of half an hour. Then the bunch of riders comes past, 30 seconds, gone. Factoring in the RC doping thing this past week, you know what I'm glad I'm not at that level. I don't want the pressure of having to be in top (doped) shape or else I might loose my spot in the billboard train. I don't want to be the race horse with logos on my back. I race my MTB and do well every now and then in local MTB races, and I've actually decided that I'm happy where I am. I don't want the life of a Pro.
  19. Raced against Greg in Sabie around 15 years ago, dual slalom on the hill just as you drop into town.
  20. Ran my first pure road marathon on Saturday. Have done 2x Ironman and 3x Addo 75km runs, but this was 1st purely road race. Managed 3h39m (11.6km/h average). Not super fast time but having hoped for a Sub 4, I was pretty chuffed.
  21. You can safely just replace some riding sessions with running sessions. Trust me, running will improve your riding, even if you ride less. So, no more time needed. Just run instead of ride. That's my opinion.
  22. Been training actively for running for a month now. Training for the Addo Elephant 100 Miler (160km).The run training and losing a few kilos is paying off. Got a 10.8km route with lots of long drags that I like to nail every so often to see how the fitness is going. Best time I ever got was when I was at my fittest during IM training earlier this year, 51:50 and that still required a big effort. Always thought that if I could break 50 minutes that would be a sign that my running is in good shape. Did it yesterday in 48:16. What is needed to enter Comrades? Funny how running helps cycling but cycling does little for running. Cycle once a week now, and still made it to the top of a local hill 1st on Saturday.
